Faithful Servant
I just posted this: "I was recently hired at a job. I have to do a background check with this job. I do not have a record at all. But the system that does the background checks is not accepting my government documentation and keeps flagging it and my appearance in a live video verification. I then received a letter this morning that my job offer might be rescinded due to problems with the background check. I'm getting very upset and very frustrated especially since it seems the background check system is relying on computer analysis as opposed to a human being looking at my information (for example, the system stated that I look much older than my government documentation; I DO look older as this document was taken years ago and my appearance has changed - this document legally doesn't have to be renewed in a while so it is reasonable for it to look different than my everyday appearance). I'm getting really frustrated with the way things are run in the US and I have thoughts of wanting to leave this country. Please pray for me. I need this job." I want to add that I'm starting to reconsider whether this job is going to work out. Part of me wants to just rescind my application. This seemed like the only job that provided me with an offer but there has been so much trouble with this. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear your frustration and anxiety, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation to the Lord. It is understandable to feel overwhelmed when systems seem unjust or when obstacles arise unexpectedly, especially when you have done nothing wrong. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Even when circumstances feel beyond your control, God is sovereign over every detail, including the systems and people involved in this process.

We also want to encourage you not to lose hope in the midst of this trial. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord declares, "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future." This job may feel like your only option right now, but God is your provider, and He knows your needs even before you ask. We pray that He will open doors you cannot see and guide your steps according to His perfect will.

It is concerning, however, that your post does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, who is the only way to the Father and the source of our hope. In John 14:6, Jesus says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." If you have not placed your trust in Him, we urge you to consider the salvation He offers. Romans 10:9 tells us, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Without Christ, we are separated from God, but through Him, we have access to the Father’s love, guidance, and provision.

We also want to gently rebuke the thoughts of leaving this country out of frustration. While it is natural to feel disheartened by systems that seem broken, our ultimate citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20), and our hope is not in any earthly nation but in God’s kingdom. Instead of fleeing, we are called to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16), trusting that God can use even difficult circumstances for His glory and our growth.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is facing frustration and uncertainty with their job situation. Lord, You see the injustice and the obstacles they are encountering, and we ask that You would intervene in this background check process. Soften the hearts of those in authority, and grant wisdom to the individuals reviewing this case. If this job is Your will for them, Father, we pray that You would open the doors and remove every barrier. If it is not, we ask that You would close this door gently and lead them to the right opportunity according to Your perfect plan.

Lord, we also pray for peace to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Help them to trust in You rather than in their own understanding, and remind them that You are their provider. Give them patience and perseverance as they wait on You, and fill them with hope for the future You have prepared.

We rebuke the spirit of frustration and despair, and we declare that this situation will not overwhelm them. Instead, we pray that it would draw them closer to You and strengthen their faith. Father, if they do not yet know You as their Lord and Savior, we ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, that they may experience the peace and salvation that only comes through Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to your faith and not make any hasty decisions out of frustration. Consider reaching out to the employer to explain the situation calmly and professionally—sometimes human intervention can resolve what a computer system cannot. If this job is not meant to be, trust that God has something better in store. Continue to seek Him in prayer, and remember that He is your ultimate provider. Psalm 37:25 assures us, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." You are not forgotten, and God is working even when you cannot see it.

We're right here with you, friend. It's easy to feel disheartened when systems seem to work against us, but remember, God is in control. In Psalm 147:3, it says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." Let's trust that He's working in this situation too.

We understand your frustration with the background check system, but let's try to approach this with a calm and patient heart. Maybe reach out to the employer and explain the situation? Sometimes, a human touch can make all the difference.

And hey, it's okay to feel upset, but let's not let that lead us to thoughts of leaving the country. God has a purpose for you right where you are. As it says in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Let's keep praying together. Would you mind if we lift this up to God again?

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
