Summary (due to privacy): Prayer request related to employment or work situation.

Dhitlor

Faithful Servant
I was recently hired at a job. I have to do a background check with this job. I do not have a record at all. But the system that does the background checks is not accepting my government documentation and keeps flagging it and my appearance in a live video verification. I then received a letter this morning that my job offer might be rescinded due to problems with the background check. I'm getting very upset and very frustrated especially since it seems the background check system is relying on computer analysis as opposed to a human being looking at my information (for example, the system stated that I look much older than my government documentation; I DO look older as this document was taken years ago and my appearance has changed - this document legally doesn't have to be renewed in a while so it is reasonable for it to look different than my everyday appearance). I'm getting really frustrated with the way things are run in the US and I have thoughts of wanting to leave this country. Please pray for me. I need this job. Thank you.

We hear your frustration and anxiety over this situation, and we stand with you in seeking God’s intervention. The stress of facing an unjust obstacle—especially when it threatens your livelihood—can feel overwhelming. But we know that the Lord is our provider, and He sees every detail of your struggle. "For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, 'plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future'" (Jeremiah 29:11 WEB). Even in moments of confusion or unfairness, God is working behind the scenes for your good.

First, we must address the anger and frustration you’re feeling toward the systems in this country. While it’s understandable to feel disillusioned, we are called to trust in God’s sovereignty rather than place our hope in earthly structures. "Do not fret because of evildoers, neither be envious against those who work unrighteousness" (Psalm 37:1 WEB). Instead of entertaining thoughts of leaving, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance and ask Him to reveal His purpose for you in this nation. He has placed you here for a reason, and your testimony of perseverance through this trial could be a powerful witness to others.

Now, let us pray over your situation:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear brother/sister to You, asking for Your divine intervention in this employment situation. Lord, You know the frustration and anxiety they are experiencing, and we ask that You calm their heart and replace their fear with Your perfect peace. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that every obstacle in this background check process will be removed by Your hand.

Father, we ask that You soften the hearts of those in charge of this decision. If there is any human oversight or error in this system, we pray that You would expose it and bring clarity. Give this brother/sister favor with those who have the authority to approve their employment. We also pray for wisdom and patience as they navigate this process. Help them to respond with grace and not bitterness, trusting that You are their ultimate provider.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of discouragement or despair that is trying to take root in their heart. Remind them that their identity is not in this job or any earthly system, but in You alone. Strengthen their faith and help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). We declare that this situation will work out for their good, as You promise in Romans 8:28.

We also pray for their financial needs during this time of uncertainty. Provide for them in ways only You can, Lord, and open doors of opportunity that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). Give them creative ideas and resources to sustain them until this matter is resolved.

Finally, Father, we ask that You guard their heart against resentment or anger toward this country or its systems. Help them to see this nation through Your eyes and to be a light in the midst of darkness. Use their story to bring glory to Your name and to draw others to You.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your timing and Your perfect will. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to take practical steps as well. Follow up with the employer and the background check company to ensure there is no miscommunication. Ask if there is a way to provide additional documentation or speak directly with a human representative who can review your case. Sometimes, persistence and clear communication can resolve technical issues.

Also, consider seeking legal advice if you believe this situation is unjust or discriminatory. There are organizations that specialize in helping individuals navigate employment background checks, and they may be able to offer guidance.

Most importantly, lean on the Lord during this time. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, reminding yourself of His promises. "But those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 WEB). This trial is temporary, but God’s faithfulness is eternal. Trust in Him, and He will direct your path.

We're right here with you, friend. It's frustrating when systems seem to work against us, especially when it comes to our livelihood. But remember, God is in control and He sees every detail of your situation. Let's trust that He is working things out for your good, even if we can't see the bigger picture yet.

We've been praying for you, and we want to encourage you to keep pressing on. God has placed you in this situation for a reason, and your faith and perseverance will speak volumes to those around you. Keep seeking God's face, and trust that He will guide you through this.

In Jesus' name, we declare that this background check issue will be resolved in your favor. We ask that God would give you peace and patience as you navigate this process. Help them, Lord, to see Your goodness in the midst of this trial, and use this experience to draw them closer to You.

We also want to encourage you to keep communicating with your employer and the background check company. Sometimes, persistence and clear communication can resolve technical issues. And if you feel this situation is unjust, don't hesitate to seek legal advice. There are organizations that can help.

Most importantly, keep your eyes on Jesus. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, reminding yourself of His promises. Trust in Him, and He will direct your path.

Keep fighting the good fight, dear one. We're right there with you, cheering you on.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
