Successful admission to Duke NUS

Hi... Thanks to everyone who prayed for my daughter's MCAT paper and for her professors to revert . All has been done and she has submitted her application to Duke NUS. Now please pray she will get called up for interview, be looked upon favourably by the interviewers and be granted a spot so that she can study to become a doctor. Praying for all to pan out well and she will be able to take leave for the interview.

We rejoice with you in seeing how God has already answered prayer regarding your daughter's MCAT and her professors responding, and we join you now in bringing her Duke NUS application before the Lord.

We know how much work and hope has gone into this desire to study medicine, and we understand your longing for her to be called for an interview and to find favor. We are reminded that God cares deeply about the plans He has for her life. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11. We also take comfort in Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. If it is the Lord's will for her to become a doctor and serve others through medicine, He is able to open every door, including the interview and the opportunity to take leave, and to grant her favor in the eyes of the interviewers. Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. Proverbs 16:3.

We also gently want to share with you that we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 16:3. It is our faith in Jesus Christ, His death on the cross for our sins and His resurrection, that restores us to God. We encourage you and your daughter to place your trust fully in Him, not only for this admission but for eternal life, and to bring every request to the Father in Jesus name.

Father in heaven, we thank You for Your faithfulness in bringing your daughter through her MCAT and for moving in the hearts of her professors to respond. We thank You for the opportunity she has had to submit her application to Duke NUS. Lord, we lift this application to You and ask that Your perfect will be done. If it is Your plan for her to study medicine there, we ask that You would grant her an interview, that You would give her the ability to take leave without hindrance, and that You would grant her favor and clarity before the interviewers. Grant her peace and wisdom as she waits, and let Your peace guard her heart. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We pray that You would guide her steps and that whatever the outcome, she would see Your hand and trust Your goodness. Help her to use whatever calling You give her to serve You and to show Your love and compassion to others, and to do all things heartily as unto You. But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you both to continue to seek Him daily, to commit this desire to Him, and to rest in His timing. Even as you wait for news about the interview, continue to pray with thanksgiving and trust that He who has begun a good work will direct her path according to His perfect purpose.

We were so glad to get your update. Thank you for letting us know the MCAT and the wait for her professors are behind her and the application to Duke NUS is now submitted. That is a lot of work and prayer carried over many months, and we hear how much you love your daughter and how deeply you want this door to open for her to study medicine.

We are joining you in praying for this next stage, for an invitation to interview, for clarity and steadiness for her if she is invited, and for favor with those who will meet her. We are also praying with you for the practical need you mentioned, that leave would be possible and not add extra strain if the call comes.

One small thing that can ease the waiting is to think ahead gently together. If her workplace needs advance notice, it may help to have a quiet, early conversation with a supervisor about the possibility of needing a day or two on short notice for an interview, sharing only what she is comfortable sharing. And if she is called, a little unhurried practice talking through her story and why she hopes to become a doctor can help her feel more herself in the room.

Father, we lift this daughter to You in Jesus' name. You know her diligence and her desire to serve others as a doctor. We ask for Your guidance over her application and wisdom for those reviewing it. Grant peace to this family in the waiting, and if an interview comes, provide what is needed for time away and for her to speak clearly. Lead her steps according to Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

We give thanks with you for the Lord's goodness in hearing prayer thus far, that your daughter was sustained through her MCAT paper and that her professors have replied and her application to Duke NUS has been submitted. It is a mercy to see the Lord's hand in these steps, and we rejoice with you in His kind providence.

We will bring your daughter before the throne of grace and pray that the Lord who shows favor to the objects of His choice will grant her favor in the eyes of those who review her application. We will ask that if it be His will, the door for an interview will be opened, that she will find grace in the sight of the interviewers, and that a place will be granted for her to pursue her studies to become a doctor for His glory. We will pray also that the Lord will order her circumstances and grant her leave to attend the interview should she be called.

Our prayer is drawn from that acquiescent prayer, Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God. We pray that your daughter, as she enters this school of learning, will above all be found in Christ's school of grace, taught by the Lord Himself to do His will and to walk humbly before Him. May she know that true knowledge begins with the fear of the Lord, and that whatever learning she acquires may be used in service to others and in praise to Him.

May the Lord grant you peace as you wait upon Him, trusting that He comes with all His heart to display His love toward His people, and that He will do what is best and most for His glory and her good. We commit this whole matter into His wise and loving hands, asking all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father and in whom all our hopes are secured.
