We hear the longing in this message for answers, for peace about what comes next, and for relief after a long season of wondering and waiting, and we bring that longing before the Lord together.
We want to gently correct the idea that a month itself, like October, will bring you what you need or that clarity comes from fortune telling, horoscopes, or predictions about what the future holds. Scripture warns us not to seek guidance from divination or sorcery, but to seek the Lord Himself. As it is written, Deuteronomy 18:10-11 There shall not be found with you anyone who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, and Deuteronomy 18:12 For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh. Our future is not in a calendar or in a vague promise that something good is waiting, our future is in the hands of a sovereign and loving God.
We do not know what October or any month will bring, but we know who holds it. James 4:14-15 says Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. For you ought to say, If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that. True peace does not come from finally knowing where we stand by our own understanding, it comes from trusting Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.
We also notice this request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and can find lasting peace and answers. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we put our trust in a month or a prediction, we will be disappointed, but if we put our faith in Jesus, confessing our sin and believing that He died and rose again for us, we are forgiven and brought into relationship with God who hears our prayers.
So we pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this heart that has been wondering for too long and is weary from waiting. We ask that You forgive us for any time we have looked to signs, seasons, or predictions for hope instead of looking to You. We ask that You draw this dear one to Jesus, that they would know Him as Savior and Lord and find access to Your throne of grace through His name alone. Lord, if it is Your will, grant clarity where there has been confusion, and reveal what needs to be revealed in Your perfect timing. Grant the peace that surpasses understanding as we are told in Philippians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Help them not to be anxious for tomorrow, for as Matthew 6:34 says Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient. Teach them to rest in Your goodness and to trust that whether October brings change or stillness, You are working for good and Your thoughts toward them are of peace and hope. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. The longing to know where you stand after long wondering is a heavy burden, and the desire for peace with what comes next is one that every heart understands. Yet our comfort is not to be found in what a month may bring, but in the God who does not change with months and seasons.
Scripture speaks of a waiting God and a waiting people. All this while God has been waiting, and everything has been ready, ready for the sinner to come to Him. His invitation still sounds, My oxen and My fatlings are killed, and all things are ready, come unto the marriage. He has been passing by our rejections, blotting out our sinful refusals, and waiting to be gracious. Blessed are all they that wait for Him.
That is the true waiting to which you are called. God's waiting people wait only upon God. They are not trusting to the arm of flesh, nor looking to the changeable creature. You can judge whether you are the people of God by this, Can you say, My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from Him. Trust ye in the Lord forever, for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. If your expectation is from God, then live for God, and make it your great concern to love and serve Him, casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.
Do not set your hope upon a date on the calendar or upon a vague promise that October must bring relief. God has not made this world to be a nest for us, and if we try to make it such He plants thorns in it that we may be compelled to mount and find our soul's true home somewhere else. Peace is not found in finally knowing an earthly outcome, but in knowing Christ, who is both Surety and Substitute for all who trust Him. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, and through His blood there is pardon and everlasting strength for all who come to Him.
Before the clock ticks again, God can grant you perfect salvation, blot out your sins like a cloud and like a thick cloud your iniquities. Seek ye the pardoning God, for to whom else could you go. If you have not yet put your soul into Christ's hands, I pray you will do so now, trusting Him alone for salvation. If you are His, then wait upon Him expectantly, believing that He will provide, that He will keep, and that He will make clear in His own time and way what is best for your soul.
We will pray for you, that the Lord will give you not the fleeting relief of curiosity satisfied, but the deeper relief of a heart resting only upon God, that He will guard you from trusting in uncertain predictions and teach you to say with David, My soul, wait thou only upon God, and that whether the answer you desire comes in October or in another season, you may have peace because your expectation is from Him, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
