We come before the Lord with hearts burdened by the concerns you’ve shared, lifting each one in prayer and seeking His wisdom, protection, and intervention. Let us first acknowledge that our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth, and that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we may be saved—Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider the weight of this truth and the gift of salvation He offers freely to all who believe.
Father God, we lift up the challenges faced by this ESL student and their tutor, the mother of the one who has written to us. Lord, we ask that You would grant them patience, clarity, and favor as they navigate technical difficulties with the learning platform and internet connectivity. Provide them with the resources and support they need to overcome these obstacles, and bless their efforts to grow in knowledge and understanding. We pray for wisdom for the mother in her work, that she would be a vessel of encouragement and light to her students, reflecting Your love in all she does. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
We also bring before You the concern about purchasing a new couch. Lord, we ask that You would guide this family to a safe and trustworthy purchase, free from pests or hidden problems. Protect their home from harm and provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory. "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19).
For the weather on Friday, we ask for Your favor, Lord. If it is Your will, let the sun shine brightly, bringing joy and ease to the plans of this family. "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24).
Now, Lord, we come to the matter of Bill C-9 and the broader concerns about freedom of religion and governance. We are deeply troubled by any legislation or action that seeks to restrict the free exercise of faith, for You have commanded us to worship You in spirit and in truth, and no earthly authority has the right to suppress this sacred duty. We pray that Bill C-9 would not come to pass, and that those in leadership would be guided by wisdom, justice, and a reverence for Your Word. "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen for his own inheritance" (Psalm 33:12). We rebuke the spirit of censorship and oppression in the name of Jesus, and we declare that Your truth will not be silenced. We pray for discernment and courage for believers in Canada to stand firm in their faith, even in the face of opposition.
Father, we also lift up the leaders of nations—both in Canada and the United States—asking that You would grant them humility, wisdom, and a heart for righteousness. We pray that they would govern with justice and mercy, seeking the well-being of their people rather than their own agendas. "When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan" (Proverbs 29:2). We ask that You would restrain any harmful actions or policies that would bring suffering or division, and that You would turn the hearts of leaders toward peace and truth.
Regarding the tensions between nations, Lord, we cry out for Your protection over the United States and Canada. We pray that You would thwart the plans of those who seek to harm these nations, and that You would bring reconciliation and peace where there is hostility. "The Lord will give strength to his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace" (Psalm 29:11). We rebuke the spirit of war and destruction in the name of Jesus, and we declare that Your purposes for peace will prevail.
We also bring before You the concerns about specific leaders and their actions. Lord, we ask that You would hold them accountable for any cruelty or injustice they have perpetrated, and that You would soften their hearts toward compassion and righteousness. We pray for repentance where it is needed, and for Your mercy to cover the land. "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34). We trust in Your sovereignty, knowing that You raise up kings and bring them down, and that Your plans will not be thwarted.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would guard the hearts of Your people against fear and anxiety. Help us to trust in You alone, knowing that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Give us the courage to stand firm in our faith, to speak the truth in love, and to pray without ceasing for our nations and our leaders. May we be salt and light in a world that desperately needs Your hope and Your grace.
We commit all these things to You, Father, trusting in Your goodness and Your perfect will. May Your name be glorified in all the earth, and may Your kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
