Struggling

We understand the deep frustration and weariness you’re carrying—the struggle to find discipline, the longing for independence, and the unfulfilled sense of purpose to live overseas. These burdens weigh heavily, and we want you to know that God sees your heart and your desires. Yet we must first address something critical: your focus seems divided between godly ambitions and worldly distractions, particularly with the repeated mention of things that do not honor God. The Bible warns us in **Colossians 3:2**, *"Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth."* If your desires are not aligned with God’s will, they will only lead to emptiness, no matter how much you achieve.

The lack of mention of Jesus in your request is also deeply concerning. There is no true hope, direction, or breakthrough apart from Him. **John 14:6** declares, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*) Without surrendering your struggles to Christ, you will continue to spin in circles, chasing fleeting goals while missing the eternal purpose He has for you. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Repent of your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and invite Him to lead your steps. Only then will your path become clear.

As for your struggles with discipline and provision, we must remind you that God’s timing is perfect, even when it feels delayed. **Proverbs 16:9** tells us, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps."* Your desire for independence and even your sense of being called overseas may very well be from God—but if you are pursuing these things in your own strength or for selfish ambition, they will not come to pass in the way you hope. **James 4:3** warns, *"You ask, and don’t receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it for your pleasures."* Have you sought God’s will in prayer, or are you demanding your own way? True discipline begins with submitting to His lordship, not just willing yourself to perform better.

The inability to find a job or save money is a real hardship, but we encourage you to trust in God’s provision rather than growing bitter or anxious. **Matthew 6:33** commands, *"But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* Have you been faithful in the small things? Are you stewarding what you *do* have—time, talents, and resources—with integrity? Sometimes God withholds blessings not out of cruelty, but to refine us, teach us dependence on Him, or redirect our focus toward His purposes.

If you believe God is calling you overseas, have you sought wise counsel from mature believers? Have you prayed for confirmation, or are you acting on assumption? **Proverbs 19:21** says, *"Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but the Lord’s counsel will prevail."* Mission work is not about adventure or personal fulfillment—it is about surrendering to God’s call, even if it means waiting, preparing, or serving where you are *now*. If your motivation is pure, God will open doors. If it is self-centered, He may close them until your heart aligns with His.

Lastly, we must address the issue of contentment. Your longing for your own place and gym reveals a heart that may be chasing comfort and autonomy over kingdom priorities. **1 Timothy 6:6-8** reminds us, *"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out. But having food and clothing, we will be content with that."* If God has you in a season of waiting or living with others, there is a purpose in it—perhaps to teach you humility, community, or reliance on Him rather than isolation.

**Let us pray for you:**

Heavenly Father, we lift this brother/sister before You, asking that You would open their eyes to see their need for Jesus above all else. Lord, if they have not yet surrendered to Christ, we pray for conviction and salvation—may they turn from sin and place their full trust in Him today. Forgive them for seeking fulfillment in worldly things or their own ambitions rather than Your will.

Father, we ask for Your discipline to take root in their life—not by sheer willpower, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Break the cycles of distraction, laziness, or misplaced focus, and replace them with a hunger for Your Word and Your purposes. If there is sin hindering their breakthrough, expose it and grant them repentance.

Lord, we pray for provision—but only as it aligns with Your will. If a job is needed, open the right door. If finances are lacking, teach them stewardship and trust. If their desire to live overseas is from You, make the path clear and provide the means. But if their motives are impure, redirect their heart toward Your kingdom first.

Father, guard them from bitterness or envy as they wait. Teach them contentment in this season, knowing that You are preparing them for what’s ahead. Surround them with godly community who can speak truth and encouragement into their life.

Most of all, Lord, may they seek *You* above all else—Your presence, Your will, Your glory. Let every desire be filtered through Your Word, and may they find their satisfaction in Christ alone. We ask this in the mighty name of **Jesus**, our only hope and salvation. Amen.

We're right there with you, friend. It's tough when life feels like it's at a stall, and it's easy to get discouraged when we can't see the progress we want. But remember, God is always at work, even when we can't see it. He's not surprised by your situation, and He hasn't forgotten about you.

We've been praying for you, asking God to give you clarity and peace. We know you're longing for independence, a sense of purpose, and a place to call your own. We also know that God has a unique purpose for you, and He's working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).

Let's keep our focus on Jesus. He said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full" (John 10:10). That full life comes from knowing Him and doing His will. So, let's ask Him to align our desires with His, and trust that He knows what's best for us.

We're also praying for provision. We know it's hard when you can't find a job or save money, but let's remember that God is our provider. He promises to meet our needs (Matthew 6:33). So, let's trust Him, be faithful with what we have, and leave the results to Him.

Lastly, let's keep seeking wise counsel and praying for guidance. If God is calling you overseas, He'll make it clear. But for now, let's be content where we are, knowing that God is preparing us for what's next (Philippians 4:11).

Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep seeking Jesus. He's got this, and He's got you. We're right there with you, cheering you on.
