Struggling mom of quadriplegic daughter

Your words weigh heavy on my heart. I can hear the exhaustion in every line, the sleepless nights, the desperate search for help, the feeling that your body and mind are being pushed past the breaking point. You are pouring yourself out for your daughter, and now you are running on empty. It is no small thing to carry this kind of burden day after day.

You said it feels like God is ready for you and that you might need to make the step to have it happen. I hear the despair in that, but I also wonder if this crisis is a sign of His love in disguise. Sometimes God allows us to come to the very end of our own strength so that we will finally cry out to Him with nothing left. In His severe mercy, He strips away every earthly prop until we understand that He alone is our refuge. You asked for a sign, what if this desperation itself is His call to cast yourself completely upon Him?

The secret of strength is not found in your physical resilience or in a change of circumstances. It lies in a heart committed to God, even when everything around you is crumbling. The prophet Jeremiah wept so much they called him the weeping prophet. He watched suffering and said, “Oh that my head were waters and my eyes a fountain of tears.” Yet he also remembered this: the Lord’s mercies are new every morning, and great is His faithfulness. Your tears are not wasted. Let them run down like a river before Him, for He keeps them all.

There is a deep connection between the body and the soul. A heart that finds rest in God can bring a measure of healing even to a weary frame. That is not a simplistic cure; it is a promise that as you cast your cares on Him, He will sustain you. The burden may not vanish, but He will bear you up under it.

You long for strength and a sign. Hold fast to this: the Good Shepherd makes His sheep lie down in green pastures and leads them beside still waters. He restores the soul. Right now you feel like you are in a barren wilderness, but He is with you there, and He can make a table even in the presence of what threatens to undo you. Paul knew what it was to be “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.” That holy contradiction is the reality for those who cling to Jesus.

Do not listen to the voice that tells you your life is over. The Lord has not abandoned you or your daughter. Weeping may spend the night as an unwelcome guest, but joy comes in the morning. And until that morning breaks, may His Word become your strength and your portion. May He hold you in His peace.

You ask for a sign, but consider what sign God has already given. When Christ hung upon the cross, darkness covered the earth, and He cried with a loud voice, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” This was the sign He promised long before, the sign of the prophet Jonah, His death and His burial and His resurrection. In that moment, it seemed all hope had perished. Yet it was precisely there, in what looked like utter abandonment, that the power of God shone brightest. The cross is not proof that God has left you. It is the proof that He has entered into the depths of human suffering and swallowed up death from within. When you feel forsaken, remember that your cry echoes His own, and He is not far from you.

You say you cannot handle more, that your strength is at an end. This is no failure. The Apostle Paul himself, bearing a burden so heavy it would crush any human spirit, acknowledged that he needed much aid from above. To sustain daily insults, snares, and deaths without fainting was the effect of no human power. Yet he did not merely wait passively. He labored, he trusted, he gave glory to God. Your exhaustion is not a sign that God is ready for you to quit. It is the very condition for His strength to be made perfect. Cast aside the reasoning that tells you to step away. That thought is not from Him. Unbelief suggests you stagger at the promises because the hindrances are so great, but Abraham staggered not at the impossible promise. He grew strong in faith by giving glory to God, trusting the matter to faith and not to human calculation.

The commands of Christ are not burdensome in the way the world imagines. You are already practicing the highest philosophy. To wrestle with sleeplessness, to pour yourself out for your child, to bear poverty of body and mind without envying those whose lives seem easier, this is the exercise of strength that the heretics and the vain cannot touch. Your labor is not unprofitable. Every night you rise, every moment you lift and tend and comfort, you are sustaining the name of Christ. You bear His cross not in front of a crowd, but before the very angels who stand in awe. Do not think this is worthless because no human eye applauds. God sees, and His enabling grace will not fail.

The sign you truly need has already been given. It is not an escape from the trial. It is the assurance that the trial itself has been hallowed by His presence. Draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith. Sprinkle your conscience with this truth: He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal frame and to your soul. Hold fast. To step away now would be to let the standard fall. But to endure, even while feeling shattered, is to share in the victory that has already overcome the world. He will strengthen your inner being. Do not stagger at the promise. Give glory to God, and wait for His deliverance.
God is listening and giving me some grace. I feel it. I also have taken steps to help heal myself. I met with my Doctor and meet with a Ketamine Doctor next week. It’s usually a month wait to get in. But my Doctor could see the physical and mental pain I’m in so he put me in as an emergency patient. Very grateful to God for pulling strings to get me in. God is good! Please continue to pray for me and my daughter. Thank you so much

We want you to know how deeply we’ve been lifting you and your precious daughter before the Lord these past days. Your honesty about the weight you’re carrying—mentally, physically, and in the stillness of sleepless nights—has moved us to pray with even greater urgency. We’ve asked God to steady the teetering edges, to quiet the lie that He is ready for you to step away, and to reveal Himself as the One who holds every broken piece.

We’re still asking Him for professional help that arrives quickly, for relief that feels tangible, and for the kind of strength that only comes when we admit we can’t carry it alone. Most of all, we’re watching with you for that sign—whether it’s a word, a person, a moment of unexpected peace, or a door that suddenly opens. Please keep us updated; if the burden feels heavier, post again so we can circle back with fresh prayers.

If any small answer has come—even a breath you didn’t think you could take—we’d love to celebrate it with you. And if the silence remains, we’ll keep standing in the gap until it doesn’t. You are seen, you are loved, and you are not forgotten. May the Father wrap you in His presence and whisper hope into the weariness. In Jesus’ Name.

Time for celebration! God has absolutely worked a miracle for me. My daughter’s ### got it approved for ### workers to come in 3 days a week to help. She didn’t think it would get approved. But by the Grace of God it did get approved. I couldn’t be more grateful. My prayers have been answered. Now if God could help my son in law from wanting to give up on their marriage our lives would be perfect. I can’t change him being an ###. But I, along with all of you can pray for him. I think my life has been difficult. It’s nothing compared to the life my daughter has been living the past 3 yrs. Being a ### is hard enough. But now losing her husband and kids is too much. Please pray for her and her husband. I would greatly appreciate it.
