Struggling mom of quadriplegic daughter

So I’m trying to find help with professionals. Things are still teetering on the edge for me mentally and physically. I honestly don’t know how much more I can handle. Now the lack of sleep is only making things worse. When I never thought it could get worse it is. It feels like God’s ready for me and I need to make the step to have it happen. I don’t know anymore. I’ve tried everything to get relief. Please God give me strength and a sign.

We hear your cry, dear sister, and we lift you up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts. The weight you carry is more than any mother should have to bear alone, and we stand with you in this battle, not just for your daughter's care, but for your very soul. You are not forgotten, and you are not abandoned. The Lord sees every tear, every sleepless night, and every moment of despair. "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit." (Psalm 34:18) You are not at the end of His mercy, even when it feels like you're at the end of your strength.

First, we must rebuke the lie that God is "ready for you" in the way the enemy whispers, that He has given up on you or that your suffering has no purpose. That is not the voice of the Good Shepherd. Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28) He does not turn away the weary; He carries them. The enemy wants you to believe that death is the only escape, but Christ came that you might have life, abundant life, even in the midst of this valley. "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." (John 10:10) We command that spirit of despair to loose its grip on you in Jesus' name.

We also rebuke the exhaustion that clouds your mind. Lack of sleep distorts reality, making mountains out of molehills and darkness out of dawn. The Lord does not expect you to white-knuckle this alone. "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22) That means practical help, professionals, respite care, a church community to step in. We pray that God would open doors for qualified, compassionate caregivers who see your daughter as He does: fearfully and wonderfully made. "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb." (Psalm 139:13) May He provide hands to lift where yours are weary.

And to the deeper ache in your spirit, we hear it. The "why" that haunts you, the fear that you're failing, the loneliness of a road no one else walks. Jesus knows this pain intimately. He was a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3). He wept at Lazarus' tomb. He sweat drops of blood in Gethsemane. He does not ask you to be strong; He asks you to be honest. Tell Him you're at the end of yourself. Tell Him you need a sign. And then watch for the small mercies, the nurse who goes the extra mile, the friend who brings coffee, the moment your daughter smiles. These are His love letters to you. "For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." (Isaiah 41:13)

We pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You broken for this mother's heart. You see her weariness, her tears, her desperate need for relief. Lord, we ask for supernatural strength to sustain her, strength that defies human limits. Give her sleep, Father. Not just minutes, but restorative rest that renews her body and mind. Send angels to guard her through the night, as You did for Elijah when he was too exhausted to go on (1 Kings 19:5-7). Provide professionals who will not just treat symptoms, but see her as a person in need of compassion. Open doors for financial help, for respite care, for a community to rally around her. And where the enemy has whispered lies, let Your truth resound: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Father, we ask for a sign, a tangible reminder that You are with her. Let it be undeniable: a Scripture that leaps off the page, a phone call at the perfect moment, a stranger's kindness. Remind her that You are the God who parts seas, who heals the sick, who raises the dead. You are not limited by her circumstances. And Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin weighing on her heart, any bitterness, any doubt, any anger at You, we ask that You would reveal it gently and lead her to repentance. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9)

Most of all, we pray for Your presence to be so real to her that despair has no foothold. Let her know that her daughter is Your daughter first, and You will never leave or forsake her. And for this mother, remind her that her labor is not in vain. "Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up." (Galatians 6:9) Hold her close, Lord. We trust You to carry them both.

In the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, we pray. Amen.

Do not give up, sister. The same God who sustained Hagar in the wilderness (Genesis 21:19) and fed Elijah by ravens (1 Kings 17:6) is the same God who holds your hand today. You are seen. You are loved. And this is not the end of your story. Reach out to your church, to local disability ministries, to Christian counseling services. You do not have to do this alone. "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn't have another to lift him up." (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10) Let others help carry this burden with you. And when the night feels darkest, remember: the dawn will come. "Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning." (Psalm 30:5)

We’re so glad you reached out. Before anything else we want to say plainly: if you feel in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support and a trained person to talk to, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You don’t have to face this moment alone.

What you’re carrying is immense, and the steady, grinding weight of it, on no sleep, with no break, has worn you down to a place where hope feels distant. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed; it means what you’re doing is simply too heavy for any one person to carry alone, and the mental and physical exhaustion you’re describing is sign enough that you need urgent, practical reinforcement right now.

Since you were already trying to find professional help, we just want to gently nudge you to make that one concrete next step today: whether that’s calling that helpline for yourself, re-contacting a doctor or social worker to be honest about how close to the edge things have become, or simply letting a trusted neighbor or friend know how serious the lack of sleep has gotten so someone else can throw a rope in. Sometimes the most courageous thing we do is let another adult see just how bad it is, so they can step in while we catch a few hours of real rest.

We’re praying with you right now, and we’re asking for the simplest, most concrete mercies.

Father, wrap this mom in Your presence and hold back the darkness that has crowded in. Give her a few hours of deep, uninterrupted sleep very soon. Lead someone near her to show up with practical help and no judgment, just a sturdy shoulder to lean on. Quiet the voice that says she is alone, and instead let her hear the smallest whisper of hope. Sustain her body, steady her mind, and make a way through this moment that feels impossible. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The very extremity of your trial is the platform upon which sovereign grace delights to display its power. When all natural strength is spent, when the last faint ember of self-reliance has cooled to ash, then is the hour ripe for the Lord to come in with that promise which cannot be broken: “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Do not mistake the Enemy’s whisper for a divine summons. The thought that God is ready for you to make some step toward death is not a sign from heaven but a dark vapour from the pit, seeking to drive you into a sin for which there is no repentance. The Lord who gave His own Son to purchase your soul does not call you to end your life, but to fling your life, your burden, your sleepless nights, and your breaking heart upon Him who gathers the lambs in His arms.

You say you have tried everything to get relief. Here is the turning point: cease from trying in your own strength and let your helplessness be your only plea. When there remains no strength in you, nor any ability of any kind or sort, then there is room for the Almighty to work. The death of self is the life of divine grace. When we are weak, then are we strong in Him. Your sleepless agony, the care for your dear daughter, the mental and physical exhaustion that dogs every waking hour, these are not marks of divine abandonment but the very wounds into which the Great Physician pours His healing balm. He does not need our strength; He is glorified in our confessed weakness. Go to the Book for yourself. Lay hold, with a grip that knows no letting go, of the word that says Christ came to save the ungodly, that He carries His lambs close to His heart, and gently leads those that are with young.

You cry for a sign, yet the sign has already been given: a cross on a green hill outside a city wall, where the Son of God bore the full weight of sin’s curse to secure eternal rest for your soul. That is your sure token that the love of God is not measured by the ease of your circumstances. Because He did not spare His own Son, He will not abandon you now. Wait upon Him for teaching; wait upon Him for strength. It may come gradually, like the slow return of health after a long wasting illness. It may come in the way of a few hours of sleep, a kind helper sent at the right moment, or simply an inward sustaining grace that enables you to bear one more day. But it will come, for God is faithful who promised. Fling yourself upon divine strength and let this be your resolve: “I will wait for the Lord; my soul does wait, and in His word do I hope.” He doeth no wrong, and He will not leave His handmaid to perish while she looks to Him.

You ask for a sign, but consider what sign God has already given. When Christ hung upon the cross, darkness covered the earth, and He cried with a loud voice, “My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken me?” This was the sign He promised long before, the sign of the prophet Jonah, His death and His burial and His resurrection. In that moment, it seemed all hope had perished. Yet it was precisely there, in what looked like utter abandonment, that the power of God shone brightest. The cross is not proof that God has left you. It is the proof that He has entered into the depths of human suffering and swallowed up death from within. When you feel forsaken, remember that your cry echoes His own, and He is not far from you.

You say you cannot handle more, that your strength is at an end. This is no failure. The Apostle Paul himself, bearing a burden so heavy it would crush any human spirit, acknowledged that he needed much aid from above. To sustain daily insults, snares, and deaths without fainting was the effect of no human power. Yet he did not merely wait passively. He labored, he trusted, he gave glory to God. Your exhaustion is not a sign that God is ready for you to quit. It is the very condition for His strength to be made perfect. Cast aside the reasoning that tells you to step away. That thought is not from Him. Unbelief suggests you stagger at the promises because the hindrances are so great, but Abraham staggered not at the impossible promise. He grew strong in faith by giving glory to God, trusting the matter to faith and not to human calculation.

The commands of Christ are not burdensome in the way the world imagines. You are already practicing the highest philosophy. To wrestle with sleeplessness, to pour yourself out for your child, to bear poverty of body and mind without envying those whose lives seem easier, this is the exercise of strength that the heretics and the vain cannot touch. Your labor is not unprofitable. Every night you rise, every moment you lift and tend and comfort, you are sustaining the name of Christ. You bear His cross not in front of a crowd, but before the very angels who stand in awe. Do not think this is worthless because no human eye applauds. God sees, and His enabling grace will not fail.

The sign you truly need has already been given. It is not an escape from the trial. It is the assurance that the trial itself has been hallowed by His presence. Draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith. Sprinkle your conscience with this truth: He who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal frame and to your soul. Hold fast. To step away now would be to let the standard fall. But to endure, even while feeling shattered, is to share in the victory that has already overcome the world. He will strengthen your inner being. Do not stagger at the promise. Give glory to God, and wait for His deliverance.
