Your prayer for Nepal and for the church in this hour of suffering has been heard and we join you in lifting it to the Lord.
We pray together for those who have been struck by the floods, for families who grieve, for the injured and displaced, for hospitals and rescue teams who labor day and night, and for believers there, both new in faith and long grounded, that their faith would not fail. As the Scripture says, creation groans and these birth pangs will continue and increase, yet we know the Lord is moved with compassion when He sees multitudes troubled and scattered as sheep without a shepherd. May He comfort those who mourn, as the God of all comfort, and strengthen them through the intercession of Christ who ever lives to make intercession for us, and through the prayers of His people.
We pray as you asked, that the Lord of the harvest would send forth laborers into His harvest. The harvest is His own, what He Himself has sown through the prophets and apostles, and He alone is Lord over it. The fields are already white and the laborers are few, so we ask Him to raise up and release workers who will preach the gospel, teach obedience to all that Jesus commanded, and make disciples among every people. We ask for love and unity among the saints there, for boldness to proclaim that Christ had to suffer and rise again according to the Scriptures and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins must be proclaimed in His name, and for faith that goes beyond human reasoning and rests wholly on Christ, through whom alone there is salvation.
We also pray that this trial would not shake those who are young in faith, but would drive all of us deeper into the whole counsel of God from Genesis to Revelation, to grow in grace and in understanding of Christ and His Word. Keep us from anxiety, and teach us to make our requests known to God with thanksgiving, so that His peace will guard our hearts. Help us to watch and persevere in prayer at all seasons, without ceasing, like the widow who prevailed by importunity, like the friend who knocked at midnight, like the Canaanite woman who by perseverance received mercy. Even when we feel unworthy, may we continue to ask, seek, and knock, trusting the compassion of the Lord.
And we join you in asking for preparation for what is still to come, whether storms, earthquakes, or wars. As Joseph was given wisdom to prepare Egypt for famine, and as Agabus through the Spirit warned of famine in the days of Claudius, so we ask for humble servants who understand the times and who will keep the church alert, sober, and ready in season and out of season to preach the Word and to give the reason for the hope within us. Make us faithful to teach the whole counsel of God and to live by every word that comes from the mouth of God, so that the gospel of the Kingdom may be preached as a testimony to all nations.
May the Lord strengthen His church in Nepal and in every region that will face the next calamity, establish believers in faith, hope, and love, equip workers for the harvest, and use these present sorrows as open doors to call many to repentance and to faith in Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.

Your burden for those devastated by the flooding and for the believers among them is heard, and it is right to bring it before the Lord in the way you have.
What you are asking for touches the heart of what faith is. Faith is not only believing that God exists, but trusting His character, that He is good and that He rewards those who seek Him. It gives substance to what we hope for and makes unseen realities firm to the soul. By that kind of faith those who went before us obtained a good testimony, and by that same faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, that He spoke and it was done. We are kept by the power of God through faith to an inheritance that is incorruptible and undefiled and reserved in heaven, and we are made righteous not by works but through faith in Jesus Christ, because He who knew no sin was made sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Through Him we all have the same access to the Father, not by position or merit, but only through faith in His blood and His offering once for all.
That faith does not guarantee that we will be spared suffering in this present world. Scripture shows both sides of this. Some through faith waxed valiant in battle and saw great deliverance, and others with the same faith endured torture and affliction and remained firm for God. To have faith is not to be promised an easy path, but to be anchored to unchanging promises through Jesus Christ. So we should not be moved from our faith by afflictions, whether they come to us or to our brothers and sisters far away.
Creation itself groans as in birth pangs, as Romans teaches, and Jesus said these things would come, with increasing frequency and severity, as the beginning of sorrows. Floods, quakes, storms and wars are perplexing and can shake those who are young in faith or who have not yet been taught the whole counsel of God from Genesis to Revelation. That is why your prayer for grounding in the Scriptures is so needed, that people would grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ and not be left without understanding.

We pray for those doing rescue and medical work, for those grieving and searching for answers, and for the church in the afflicted region to be strengthened in love and unity. We join our intercession to the intercession of Christ Himself, who lives to make intercession for His own, that their faith would not fail and that having turned again in trust they may strengthen others. God comforts us in affliction so that we may comfort others with the comfort we have received.
We also pray that we would be ready in season and out of season to use these events as opportunities to speak the gospel clearly, that people must repent and believe, that Christ had to suffer and die and rise again according to the Scriptures, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins must be proclaimed in His name. We are to preach the gospel and teach obedience to all that Jesus commanded, calling all to the new birth of the Spirit without which no one can see the kingdom of God. As we do this we wait with patience, establishing our souls, for the Lord is patient as He gathers the full fruit of the harvest. He is not slow as some count slowness, but is giving time for more to come to repentance.
May the Father keep you from anxiety and keep you alert, with peace guarding your heart, as you continue to proclaim the hope we have in Christ, the city which has foundations whose builder and maker is God, and the sure promise that He who is coming will come and will not tarry.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf for the flood victims in Nepal and for all you laid before the Lord. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for the strengthening of new believers and all who were shaken by this calamity, for the rescue and search teams, for workers and hospitals, for faith hope and love to remain firm, and for the gospel to go forth with power in the midst of suffering.
We continue to join you in prayer that the church would be strengthened through the intercession of Christ who lives to intercede for us according to Rom 8:34 and Heb 7:25, and through our intercession for one another according to 2 Cor 1:3, that faith would not fail and that those who are restored would strengthen others according to Luke 22:32, and that all would grow in grace and in understanding of the Scriptures. We are also standing with you in asking the Lord of the harvest to send forth workers into His harvest according to Matt 9:38, and to prepare the church and the next regions for coming storms, quakes, floods and wars, remembering that these are the beginning of birth pangs according to Matt 24:8 and that the whole creation groans according to Rom 8:22 until this gospel of the kingdom is proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations according to Matt 24:14.
