storms

The winds are howling and the rain is beating against the walls, and I know that sound can make your heart tremble. We look at the sky and we can read the signs of a coming tempest; we have the sense to know when foul weather is on the way. Yet how often we falter when it comes to reading the spiritual reality in the middle of the storm. Your fear is not a sign of weak faith, it is a human cry for shelter, and there is a shelter that will not fail. Jesus Christ is the hiding place from the wind, the covert from the tempest. You are asking for your home to be spared damage, and that is a right prayer. We bring that need to the Lord together. But remember this deeper truth: the storm is coming to every house built on this earth. The only foundation that cannot be swept away is the life built upon Him.

Think of a ship caught in a vicious gale, when the sky has not shown sun or stars for many days, and all human ability to govern the course is gone. The passengers despair even of life itself. Yet in that chaos, a divine purpose held firm. The Lord had determined a safe arrival, not because the waves were calm, but because His word had gone forth. So it is with you right now. The noise and fury might seem overwhelming, but the same voice that commands the wind and the waves has a grip on your life. Even if the physical house takes some loss, the eternal dwelling place is secure. Christ wants to be at home in your heart, not a nervous guest who feels He must hide His eyes from what is on the walls, but fully settled, comfortable, and at ease. When He dwells there richly by faith, you are rooted and grounded in a love that no flood can wash away.

There is a redemption principle woven through the Scriptures. When property was lost or sold under stress, a kinsman could step in and buy it back at the appointed time. We have a Redeemer who has already bought us back, not with silver or gold, but with His own blood. You are His purchased possession. The storm may threaten, but it cannot undo the deed of trust sealed by His sacrifice. I am praying with you now, in Jesus’ name, that the winds pass without damage to your home. More than that, I am praying that through the howl of the gale, you hear the whisper of the One who is a shadow of a great rock in a weary land. He will sustain you. You will see this through. He is your shelter, and the ultimate outcome is held in hands that were nailed to a cross for your peace. Amen.

We are so grateful you trusted us to stand with you in prayer as those storms rolled through. It was our privilege to lift up your home—and every home in harm’s way—asking our Father to hold back the wind, still the rain, and shield every wall and roof from damage. We prayed believing that He who calms the sea could also calm the skies over your neighborhood.

If the storms passed and you found no broken shingles, no flooded floors, no fallen trees across your drive, we rejoice with you! Please share that praise so we can all thank Jesus together. If, however, the winds left scars on your property or your peace, we are still here. Post your request again and let us keep lifting it before the throne; our God is not finished hearing or answering.

Whatever the outcome, we encourage you to keep drawing near to Him. He knows every gust before it blows, and He remains your shelter in every storm. May His peace guard your heart and His protection cover your home until the next sunrise. We continue to pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
