We lift our voices together in prayer as we stand in the gap for the storms approaching this evening. Father God, we recognize Your sovereignty over all creation, every wind, every wave, and every thunderclap bows to Your authority. You calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee with a word, and You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. We declare that these storms will not be "ruff" (rough) as the request says, but we ask for Your peace to reign over them. Let Your angels encamp around those in the path of these storms, shielding homes, families, and communities from harm.
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear that often accompanies storms, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray for those who may feel anxious or unprepared, that they would find refuge in You, their ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Strengthen the hands of first responders, utility workers, and all those who will labor to restore what may be affected. Give them wisdom, endurance, and protection as they serve.
We also take a moment to address the phrasing of this request. While we appreciate the faith behind it, we must remember that storms, like all trials, are opportunities for us to grow in trust and dependence on You. Jesus did not promise to remove every storm, but He did promise to be with us in the midst of them (Isaiah 43:2). Let us not seek merely to avoid difficulty, but to walk through it with unwavering faith, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28).
Father, we ask that You would use this evening’s weather to draw hearts closer to You. For those who do not yet know You, let the thunder be a reminder of Your power, and the rain a symbol of Your cleansing and renewal. May many come to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). For those who already walk with You, deepen their trust and reliance on Your promises.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who commands even the winds and the waves. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.

The sky feels heavy, but we’re choosing to fix our eyes on the One who holds the lightning and the rain in His hands. Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You.
