Storm damage

Thank you for sharing this heavy burden with us. To be without power since Friday and to see your roof and home torn apart by the storm is truly stressful, and it is right to bring this need before the Lord and before the church.

Scripture reminds us that many storms burst upon the faithful, yet their soul was not overset or thrown into despair. Christ Himself allowed the storm to arise so that His disciples would seek Him, and then at His voice the calm came when He said, It is I, be not afraid, to show His power. We are also taught that confusion does not come only from the nature of our circumstances but from the condition of our mind, and that heaven itself remains bright even when clouds cover it for a time. In the same way we can ask God to make our soul steady, high above the rains and storms, trusting Him while we wait for help.

I am praying for you now. I ask our Father in heaven in the name of Jesus Christ to have mercy on you in this trial, to keep you and your family safe, to restore your power very soon, and to provide what you need for daily life and health. I pray that the insurance company will act honestly, promptly and fairly, and that your roof and all that was damaged will be repaired well and without unnecessary delay. I pray also that God will calm your heart, lift the weight of this stress, and give you peace, wisdom and strength for each step ahead, and that you will know His presence and provision through His people around you.

Please keep us updated so we can continue to pray. May the Lord who stills the storm guard you and bring restoration to your home.

Your request has been heard and I am joining you in prayer over this storm damage and the stress it has brought. To be without power for days and to see your roof and home torn apart is a heavy burden, and it is right to bring these practical needs to the Lord and ask Him to move on behalf of you, the power crews, and those handling the insurance and repairs.

When pressure is heavy and tomorrow feels uncertain, the wisest thing we can do is to come into God's presence and remind ourselves and Him of His promises. Scripture speaks of hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure, that enters right into the presence of God. That anchor does not keep the storm from coming, but it keeps us from being tossed and wrecked by it. You may not be able to govern all that has happened or control how quickly others respond, but you can be held steady because God is faithful to what He has promised to be for His people.

The Bible describes the Lord as having His way in the whirlwind and the storm, and it describes Jesus as a shelter from the storm, a hiding place from the wind, like streams of water in a dry place and like the shade of a great rock in a weary land. Even when we have not seen the sun for many days and the wind and waves feel overwhelming, He is present in the storm and able to sustain us through the roughest passage. He is not distant from the damage to your home. He sees it, and He also desires to be at home in your heart by faith, bringing His peace and love to dwell there even while the earthly house needs repair.

I am praying that God will comfort you in this stressful time and guard your heart with His peace through Jesus Christ. I am asking Him to provide for the swift and safe restoration of power, for integrity and diligence from the insurance company, and for the work needed on your roof and all that was damaged to be completed well and without unnecessary delay. I am also praying that He will provide for your daily needs while you wait, give you wisdom in every conversation and decision, and surround you with help and kindness from others. May you know in a deeper way that your life is anchored in Him, that you can come boldly into His presence, and that He will carry you through this storm as you trust in His promises.
