Thank you for sharing this need so we can pray with you in the name of Jesus. We are grateful with you for the mercy God showed yesterday in bringing you through the storm and restoring power quickly, and we join you in asking for His continued mercy and protection.
Scripture teaches that mercy is not getting what we deserve, while grace is receiving good from God that we do not deserve. We never want to ask God for strict justice, for we would not stand, but we can always ask for mercy. God delights to show mercy and His mercy endures forever. He is sovereign and has mercy on whom He will have mercy, not because we have earned it but because He is merciful. That is why we can come with confidence and hope in Him. The eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him and hope in His mercy, to deliver them and keep them, and His mercy is extended to us according as we hope in Him. Even when our distress comes through no fault of our own, and even more when it does, when we cry to the Lord He hears because His mercy endures forever. He is our place of safety and strength, and He can encompass us with songs of deliverance.
We also remember how God was with the apostle Paul in the great storm at sea. The ship was not driven by chance. God's hand was guiding every part of that difficult journey to accomplish His purpose and to bring Paul where God wanted him to minister. In the same way God is with His people in the storm, guiding and directing, and we can trust His will above all. We are not afraid of the will of God, for His will is wise and loving, and we want to remain in it.
So we pray with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we thank You for Your mercy that endures forever and for the protection You gave yesterday. We ask You in Your mercy to watch over these homes and families in this continuing storm. Keep the trees and limbs standing, guard lives and homes from harm, and if it is Your will, sustain power and all that is needed. Above all let Your will be done, and give peace and trust to hearts that hope in You. Fill hearts with thanksgiving for Your goodness and Your wonderful works. We ask this in Jesus name, amen.
