I am praying for you in this difficult time with the storm damage to your roof and with the feeling of being without family guidance.
It is right to bring both of these needs to the Lord in prayer. Even Jesus, the Son of God, showed us how necessary prayer is for guidance and for life itself, rising early to seek the Father. How much more do we need to bring everything before Him and ask for His wisdom.
For your roof, I am asking God to make provision for the repair. Scripture shows that God often makes provision beyond what people can see or do on their own. There were times when His provision was already more than enough while people inside still felt hungry and without hope. There were also times when His house was in disrepair and the work was delayed for a long while even after resources were gathered, but in His timing He moved hearts and the breaches were repaired and the house was strengthened. Your need for a roof to be repaired is a real and practical breach that needs to be made whole, and I am praying that the means will be provided through your insurance and warranty, and that those responsible will act fairly and promptly. God is able to work even when a situation looks impossible in human terms. Under the old law God even made a place for Himself to do what man called incurable, leaving room for His own gracious and supernatural work. Give Him room to work in this situation as well.
For guidance, the word of God calls us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not to lean on our own understanding, and in all our ways to acknowledge Him, and He will direct our paths. There is a warning in Scripture about those who relied on their own formulas for success and did not first seek the Lord, and they found themselves in trouble they could not get out of. The lesson for us is to inquire of God first before we make decisions. Since you feel you lack guidance from family, take comfort that the Lord Himself promises to guide you according to His will when you seek Him. Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and turn from evil, and ask Him daily for wisdom.
Above all, remember that God has made one provision for our greatest need, the forgiveness of our sins, and that is through the death of His Son Jesus Christ. There is no other provision for sin. The Spirit bears witness to this truth to our hearts. If you have trusted in Jesus for that forgiveness, you can be confident that the same God who provided for your soul also cares for your daily needs like shelter and direction.
I pray that Jesus will guide you clearly step by step, that He will give you peace as you wait, that He will provide for the repair of your roof, and that you will see His hand at work both in supplying what you need and in leading you where you should go.
