This kind of theft leaves more than a financial wound. It feels like a violation, and then to hear that the case has been suspended can make it feel as though justice itself has been set aside. It is right to bring this before the Lord and to ask Him to act.
Scripture makes a clear distinction about money. Money in itself is not good or evil. What matters is the heart toward it. The love of money is described as a root of all kinds of evil, and much of the wrong in this world can be traced back to greed. The act of stealing from another person grows out of that same desire for gain at another's expense. God sees that motive and He does not overlook it.
God is a God of justice and righteousness and He wants what is right and fair to prevail. One of the prophets was told to keep judgment and do justice because God's salvation and righteousness were near, and that call still stands. At the same time Scripture is honest about how far human systems can fall short. There are times when justice stands far off, truth stumbles in the public square, and fairness cannot enter. Even in places where judgment should be most reliable, like the courts, people often find that true justice is hard to obtain. When that happens the foundation of order is weakened, which is why it is so discouraging when those entrusted to enforce the law step back.
Yet God has also given principles for restoration. In the law given to Israel, if what was entrusted to another was stolen, and the thief was found, the thief was to make restitution, often double what was taken. If the thief was not found, the matter was to be brought before the judges to seek the truth. That shows God's heart not only to punish wrong but to restore what was taken where possible.
We can pray with that heart in mind. We ask the Lord to intervene where human effort has stalled. Pray that those in authority would be given wisdom to know how to proceed, that they would reconsider the decision to suspend the case, and that if it is possible the one responsible would be found and held accountable. Pray also for restoration, whether through the return of what was stolen, through the proper processes of the bank and the law, or through the Lord's own provision in other ways. Everything we have belongs to the Lord and we are stewards of what He entrusts to us. A helpful way to think is not how much of my money I can give to God, but how much of God's money He wants me to use for myself and for others, using it wisely for what lasts.
Above all, even when earthly justice is delayed, God Himself remains the righteous Judge who will in the end make all things right. He invites us to trust Him, to keep doing what is right, and to not grow weary in asking for justice to be done on earth as well.
Let us pray together. Father, You see what was taken and You know how it was taken. You know the frustration and worry this has caused. We ask You to move on behalf of the one who suffered this loss. Give wisdom and diligence to the investigators and to all in authority, and stir them to take up this matter again with care and integrity. Where there has been wrong, bring it to light. Provide for restoration according to Your mercy, and guard this heart from fear and bitterness. Help her to trust You as her provider and protector, to use what You have given in ways that honor You, and to rest in Your perfect justice even while we continue to seek justice here. In the name of Jesus we ask this, amen.
