### still can't sleep

Beloved of All
Jesus please let my son be able to sleep. This is an ongoing problem and he needs rest and I don't know what to do anymore. Please let him be able to fall and stay asleep. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

We hear your heart, dear sister in Christ, and we join you in lifting your son before the Lord. Sleep is a gift from God, a time of rest and restoration that He graciously provides for our bodies and minds. The psalmist reminds us in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones." Your son’s struggle with sleep is not in vain, and we believe the Lord hears your cries and sees your weariness in this season.

First, we want to encourage you to bring this burden before the Lord with boldness, trusting in His sovereignty over every detail of our lives. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Even in the midst of ongoing trials, God’s peace is available to guard your heart and mind. We also encourage you to examine if there are any underlying spiritual, emotional, or physical factors that may be contributing to your son’s sleeplessness. Anxiety, fear, or even unconfessed sin can disrupt our peace, and the enemy often seeks to steal our rest as a way to weaken us. 1 Peter 5:8 warns, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or sleeplessness that may be afflicting your son, and we command it to flee in the mighty name of Jesus.

Let us also consider the physical and practical aspects of this struggle. Has your son been evaluated by a medical professional to rule out any underlying health concerns? While we trust God for supernatural healing, we also recognize that He often works through natural means. Proverbs 3:7-8 says, "Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones." Encourage your son to establish a consistent bedtime routine, limit screen time before bed, and create an environment conducive to sleep. Prayerfully consider if there are any habits or distractions that may be hindering his rest.

Now, let us come before the throne of grace together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for the gift of sleep and for the promise that You give rest to Your beloved. Lord, we lift up this dear mother and her son to You, asking for Your mercy and intervention. Father, we declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard his heart and mind. We rebuke every spirit of fear, anxiety, and sleeplessness that seeks to rob him of the rest You have ordained for him. We speak life and restoration over his body, mind, and spirit.

Lord, we ask that You would reveal any underlying causes of this struggle, whether spiritual, emotional, or physical. Give this mother wisdom and discernment as she seeks to support her son. Father, we pray for supernatural healing and breakthrough in this area. Let Your presence be so tangible in his life that sleep comes easily and naturally, as a gift from Your hand. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for Your faithfulness to answer. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue standing on God’s promises and trusting in His timing. Remember that even when the answer seems delayed, the Lord is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Isaiah 65:24 assures us, "It will happen that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." Keep pressing into the Lord, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you faint not (Galatians 6:9).

Lastly, we want to remind you that you are not alone in this battle. The body of Christ is here to support and uplift you. If there are other believers in your life, do not hesitate to ask them to join you in prayer and intercession for your son. There is power in agreement, as Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:19-20, "Again, assuredly I tell you, that if two of you will agree on earth concerning anything that they will ask, it will be done for them by my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them." May the Lord surround you and your son with His love, peace, and presence as you continue to trust in Him.

What an exhausting road this has been for you, repeatedly seeing your son struggle to sleep and feeling like you’ve run out of ideas. We can hear how much you love him and how heavy this burden feels.

When sleep problems persist, they often have more than one layer. It may be worth seeing his doctor, not because your prayers are insufficient, but because God often uses medical wisdom to uncover what’s going on, whether it’s a physical issue, something like anxiety, or simply a cycle of poor sleep habits that needs help breaking. A professional can rule out things like restless legs or other treatable conditions.

One small, practical thing you might try in the meantime is keeping a simple sleep log for a week or two, just jotting down when he goes to bed, any wake-ups, what he ate or drank close to bedtime, and any stress or activity that day. Patterns sometimes surface that give clues for what to adjust. Another thing we’ve seen quietly help some people is playing soft, trusted hymns or instrumental Christian music at bedtime. The familiar words settle the mind in a way that surpasses just trying to “shut down.”

We’re joining you in prayer right now.

Lord Jesus, you know this mother’s or father’s heart, the ache of watching her son lie awake night after night. Grant him the gift of deep, restoring sleep. Steady his mind and body, and bring whatever calm only your Spirit can give. Guide his parents to the right help and small adjustments that make a difference. Hold them all in your peace tonight. In your name we ask this, Amen.

This burden you carry is known to the Lord, and the ceaseless trial of a sleepless child wears deeply upon a parent’s heart. You have done what you know to do, and now you cry out to the only One who holds the keys of rest. That is well. Yet consider that there is a rest given now to those who come to Jesus, a present, perfect rest for the soul, even when the body lies wakeful. It is not said that the rest is incomplete, nor that it delays until the trial passes. Learn of Christ in this very hour. Let your mind be brought low, for His yoke is easy and His burden is light. It may be that in your anxiety, your own spirit is far from rest. The soul’s disquiet often disturbs the household’s peace. Find your own rest in Him who giveth His beloved sleep, and then plead with fresh strength for your son.

Your prayer was brief and earnest, but this is a desperate case. Some kinds go not out but by prayer and fasting. Have you pressed the matter with an unusual degree of prayer? Have you set apart a day, denied yourself some comfort of the flesh, and laid hold of the covenant promises as one who will not let go except the Lord bless you? Take the promise that He giveth to His beloved in their sleep, and spread your case before Him. Plead the blood of Jesus. Plead His faithfulness. Tell Him plainly: “Lord, Thou hast promised rest to Thy people. My son is before Thee. Thou didst give sleep to Jacob in the open wilderness with a stone for a pillow. Wilt Thou not grant this simple mercy to a child brought before Thee in prayer?” Let your arguments be drawn from His own Word, and do not cease till the answer comes.

But take heed also. Is there any sin harbored in the home, any Jonah asleep in the vessel while the storm rages without? Examine your own heart. Sometimes unanswered prayer is a chastisement for sin committed or an invitation to deeper cleansing. Make a clean sweep of all that offends, and then return to the mercy seat. Do not give up the closet. Do not believe the dark suggestion that prayer is vain. Even now, while you feel at an end of your own resources, Christ is near. He calmed the Galilean sea with a word; He can quiet the agitation of a weary brain. Trust, and you shall rest, first for your own soul, and then, according to His will, for your son’s body. The Lord’s ear is not heavy. Cry unto Him day and night, and in His own wise time, He will make the tossing to cease and give His beloved sleep.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You have called upon the Lord Jesus for your son’s sleep, and you ask the church to join you. This is good, for where two or three are gathered in His name, He is in the midst. Yet I hear in your words a weariness that borders on despair: “I don’t know what to do anymore.” Take care, lest this trial cause you to harden your heart as the Israelites did in the wilderness, who were shut out from God’s rest because of unbelief. The Apostle warns, “Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” That rest is not only the everlasting Sabbath but even now a calm of soul that comes from trust. When you say you do not know what to do, you are exactly where God would have you: emptied of your own contrivances, ready to receive what He alone can give.

Consider how God has already shown the measure of His love. He spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all. Since He gave the greater gift, the very Lord of glory, to His enemies, will He not with Him freely give us all lesser things? Sleep is a small matter to the One who holds the world in His hands. The same Christ who rebuked the winds and the sea can command a restless mind into peace. Do not be as those who, seeing the storm, forgot the power of Him who walked upon the waters.

Perhaps the child’s insomnia lingers that you might learn the discipline of waking with Christ. Remember in Gethsemane, when the disciples were heavy with sorrow, our Lord did not rail against them but said, “Sleep on now, and take your rest.” He knows our frailty. Yet the hour of trial came, and they fled. So I urge you: do not flee into the despair of complaining, but stand watch in prayer, even with a sleepless child. God’s silence is not neglect; it is a summoning of your soul to cling more tightly.

I do not forbid you to use such ordinary helps as are wise: a quiet room, a steady hour, perhaps even a little wine for the stomach’s sake as the blessed Paul counseled Timothy for his frequent infirmities. These are gifts of God’s common mercy. But above all, cry out for the mercy that reaches the soul. This child is your son, and your anxiety is the ache of love. Yet consider: if the parents of the man born blind feared to speak the whole truth because of the Jews, how much more should you fear to let fear muzzle your faith? Speak the whole truth to God, yes, but also speak it to your own heart: God is good, and His timing is perfect.

I charge you, then, not to let this ongoing trial breed the thought that God has abandoned you. That is the very unbelief that shut the Hebrews out of Canaan. Rest is promised to the people of God; lay hold of that rest now by quiet confidence. Entrust your son to the One who neither slumbers nor sleeps, and let your heart be still. For “unto our God and Father be the glory,” and that glory shines even in beds of sleeplessness when they teach us to wait. Amen.
