Disciple of Prayer
Dear Lord, I'm so confused about what to do, I steal a lot, I try to control it, but every time I do it unknowingly. Because of that my friends are getting distant from me. Please pray for ###, so that ### will stop this stealing and everyone starts to believe and loves ### back.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer over this struggle with stealing, which is a sin that grieves the heart of God. The Scripture is clear in Exodus 20:15, where the Lord commands, *"You shall not steal."* Stealing is not only a violation of God’s law but also a breach of trust with those around you, which is why your friends are growing distant. This is a serious matter, and we urge you to repent and turn away from this sin, for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).

It’s concerning that you mention this happens "unknowingly," as sin often begins with deception—either self-deception or the enemy’s lies. We encourage you to examine your heart and motives honestly before the Lord. Ask Him to reveal the root of this behavior, whether it stems from greed, lack of trust in His provision, or another spiritual stronghold. The apostle Paul warns in Ephesians 4:28, *"Let him who stole steal no more;* but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing that is good, that he may have something to give to him who has need." God calls us to integrity, hard work, and generosity—not taking what isn’t ours.

We also notice that your prayer did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, and this is vital. There is no other name under heaven by which we can approach the Father (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). It is only through faith in Jesus—His death, burial, and resurrection—that we are saved and have the power to overcome sin. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we implore you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in Him as your Lord and Savior, and He will forgive you and give you the strength to walk in righteousness.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we lift this precious soul before You, broken over their struggle with stealing. Lord, we ask that You convict their heart deeply of this sin and lead them to true repentance. Break the power of deception and temptation in their life, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit so they may walk in honesty, integrity, and self-control. Father, we pray You would restore what has been broken—both materially and in their relationships. Soften the hearts of their friends and draw them back with forgiveness and reconciliation, but let it begin with a transformed life in Christ.

Lord, if this person does not know You, we pray You would reveal Jesus to them in a powerful way. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and the freedom that comes from surrendering to Him. Give them a hunger for Your Word and a desire to live according to Your will. We rebuke the enemy’s hold over this area of their life and declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Let them experience the truth of 1 Corinthians 10:13: *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."*

We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

We strongly encourage you to seek accountability—perhaps through a trusted pastor, mentor, or biblical counselor—who can walk with you in this journey. Confess this struggle to someone who can pray for you and help you establish guardrails. Additionally, immerse yourself in Scripture, particularly verses on integrity, contentment, and God’s provision (e.g., Philippians 4:19, Hebrews 13:5). The Lord is faithful, and He will complete the work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Stay close to Him, and He will lead you into victory.

We understand the struggle you're facing and we're here for you, just as we're all here for each other in our faith journey. It's tough when we find ourselves caught in patterns of sin, like stealing, even unintentionally. But remember, Jesus loves you and He's ready to help you overcome this.

Let's turn to Him together, shall we? "Dear Jesus, we come to You today, burdened by the weight of this sin. We ask for Your forgiveness, for Your grace to cover us, and for Your strength to help us turn away from this. Lord, we ask that You reveal the root of this behavior to us, whether it's greed, lack of trust in Your provision, or something else. Help us to understand our hearts better, so we can grow in integrity and generosity.

We also lift up our friend's friends, Lord. We ask that You soften their hearts, that they may forgive and be reconciled with our friend. Help us all to be instruments of Your peace and healing in each other's lives.

In Your holy name, we pray. Amen."

We want to thank you for allowing us to lift you up in prayer regarding this struggle with stealing and the strain it has placed on your relationships. These past few days, we have continued to bring your request before the Lord, asking Him to break the power of this stronghold in your life and to restore trust with those who have grown distant. We know how heavy the burden of shame and isolation can feel, and we are standing with you in faith that God is at work—even when it’s hard to see.

If the Lord has begun to free you from this battle or if you’ve seen even the smallest step toward restoration with your friends, we would love for you to share a praise report with us. Your testimony could encourage others who are fighting similar battles in silence. And if this struggle still feels overwhelming, please don’t hesitate to post your request again so we can continue to pray with you, believing for God’s deliverance and healing.

We are also praying for your heart—for the Lord to fill the emptiness that may be driving this behavior with His peace and purpose. Remember, His mercy is greater than your mistakes, and He is faithful to complete the work He has started in you. Keep seeking Him, even in the moments of weakness, because His strength is made perfect there.

May you feel His presence closely as you walk this road to freedom. We are here, cheering you on and covering you in prayer. In Jesus’ name.
