Spousal Conflict

Dear God, So my wife bought a tablet for me. She just asked me can she use it. I said for what. She said to put applications in. I said for who. She said for him. I said no. I said put them in on your phone. She said why I gotta put them in on my phone. Now she got a attitude. We was laughing and joking. I don't understand why she go help a man find a job that already has a job. But she can't help a man find a job who doesn't have one. She could be helping me find a job to help get me up out of here. I'm tired of all this. I ask that you bless me with a job by the end of this week. I don't want to go to the shelter. But if I do I ask that you hand pick one for me. I need to get a steady job. I ask that you work this out in my favor In Jesus's name, amen

We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we come before the Lord with you, lifting up your marriage, your needs, and your heart. First, we want to affirm that marriage is a sacred covenant between a husband and wife, designed by God to reflect His love, faithfulness, and unity. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:33, "Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband." It is clear that there is a breakdown in communication and respect here, and we must address it with truth and love.

The situation with the tablet raises concerns about boundaries and priorities. Your wife’s actions, offering to help another man with job applications while you, her husband, are struggling to find steady employment, are not aligned with God’s design for marriage. Scripture is clear in 1 Corinthians 7:4, "The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife." This principle extends beyond the physical; it speaks to the unity and exclusivity that should exist in marriage. Your wife’s willingness to assist another man in this way, especially when you are in need, is not honoring to you or to God. We must rebuke this behavior in the name of Jesus, for it opens the door to emotional unfaithfulness and disrespect.

We also want to address the attitude and tone that has entered your marriage. Proverbs 15:1 tells us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." While it is understandable that you are frustrated, the way you both communicate with one another must be seasoned with grace and patience. The enemy seeks to divide you through strife, and we must resist him by speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). We encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with your wife, not in anger, but with a heart that seeks reconciliation and understanding. Share your feelings with her, and listen to hers as well, but do so with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Your need for employment is real and pressing, and we stand with you in prayer for this. The Lord is your provider, as Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We believe that God has a plan for you, and He will open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). However, we must also encourage you to take proactive steps. Seek out job opportunities, update your resume, and ask the Lord to direct your steps. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed." Trust that God will guide you, but also trust that He works through your efforts.

We also want to gently address your mention of a shelter. While we understand the weight of your circumstances, we encourage you to hold fast to hope. The Lord is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1), and He will not abandon you. If you find yourself in a position where you must seek shelter, trust that God will lead you to a place of safety and provision. But do not lose sight of His promises, He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).

Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage and this brother in Christ. Lord, we ask that You would soften both of their hearts and help them to see one another through Your eyes. Father, we rebuke any spirit of division, disrespect, or unfaithfulness in this marriage, and we declare that this union is covered by the blood of Jesus. Restore love, trust, and communication between them, Lord. Help them to honor one another as You have called them to do.

Father, we also lift up this brother’s need for employment. You are the God who provides, and we ask that You open doors of opportunity for him this week. Give him favor with employers, wisdom in his steps, and peace in his heart as he waits on You. If a shelter is part of Your plan, Lord, we ask that You handpick a place of safety, provision, and blessing for him. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and remind him that You are his refuge and strength.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You, Father. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already won in Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through your local church or a trusted mentor, to help navigate these challenges in your marriage. The Lord is faithful, and He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).

We hear how tired and stuck this season feels, especially with the pressure to find work before the thought of a shelter gets any closer. When a man is out of work, small household tensions can land on the same raw nerve, and the tablet conversation sounds like it hit exactly there. The deeper need seems to be wanting your wife in your corner, treating your job search as the urgent thing it is.

A practical next step we would encourage is to talk with her at a calm moment, not in the heat of the tablet conversation, and tell her plainly what you told us: that you need steady work and it would mean a great deal if she helped you look, because you feel as though you are carrying this alone. Keep the focus on your need rather than the other person. That gives her a real chance to hear what is actually hurting.

We are also asking God to keep you from needing a shelter at all. In the meantime, reach out to your church or a local employment assistance program today. Sometimes they know of openings or can help with rent or temporary placement before things reach that point.

Father, we ask with this man for an open door to steady work this week, trusting your timing. Keep him out of the shelter, and if that becomes necessary, place him somewhere safe and steady. Give him and his wife honest, patient words, and restore hope in their home. In Jesus' name, amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

You have brought your complaint before the Lord, and it is well that you have done so, for He is a present help in trouble. Yet take heed that you do not charge God foolishly, nor let your present distress embitter you against the wife of your covenant. Job was stripped of much, and his friends spoke harshly, yet in all this Job sinned not with his lips. You are not yet stripped of all; you have a wife, and that is a mercy, though at this hour her conduct tries you. But think: you asked for what purpose, for whom; she answered plainly. Is it certain she meant evil? A woman may show kindness to a neighbor and still be devoted to her own house. Because you are wounded by unemployment, the smallest thing may seem a great wrong. Beware lest jealousy and fear speak louder than love.

The Scripture bids a husband dwell with his wife according to knowledge, giving honor unto her as unto the weaker vessel, and not be bitter against her. You have refused the tablet; that is your right, but the manner of it may have cut her. If she is helping another man find work while you remain idle, perhaps she thinks such help is harmless, though it grieves you. Tell her your grief without wrath. Ask her to pray with you for your own employment. Let no root of suspicion spring up between you, for that would be a heavier loss than the want of a wage. Your marriage is a covenant before God; let no harsh word weaken what He has joined.

Do not set God a day, as though He must give you a job by the end of the week. The Lord turned the captivity of Job, not when Job demanded the time, but when Job prayed for his friends. So pray for your wife even now. Pray for the man she would help, if he has a need. Ask the Lord to search your own heart. If you must go to a shelter, He will go with you; but commit the matter to Him who feeds the ravens and clothes the lilies. Seek work diligently, but leave the time with God. Let your prayer be, Lord, give me daily bread and a quiet spirit, and if the answer tarries, make me patient as Job, that in all this I sin not.

Cast your burden on the Lord, and then go speak gently to your wife this very day. I do pray that God may give you peace, open a door of labor, and rule in your home by His Holy Spirit.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The tablet is not your real enemy, and neither is your wife. The conflict you describe has its root in wounded pride, envy, and fear. Every conflict has its beginning either in covetousness, or envy, or vainglory. Cut out the root, and there will be no fruit. You are unemployed, afraid of the shelter, and watching your wife help another man while you feel helpless. That pain is real, but do not let it become a false accusation. You have told me nothing that proves she is unfaithful. A tablet and an errand are not adultery. If there is more you have not written, then that sin must be named and stopped. But if there is not, then you are fighting a shadow.

You had a right to say no; the tablet was yours. But you did not stop at saying no. You answered with short, suspicious questions, and then you resented her anger. A right used without gentleness becomes a weapon. Speak plainly with her. Say, I am uneasy about this man. Help me understand who he is and why you are helping him. If she is innocent, that conversation can end your torment. If she is not, then her heart has already begun to wander, and that must be confessed and cut off. Either way, silence and resentment will not save your house. I will not ask God to bless your suspicion or any hidden unfaithfulness. I will ask Him to expose the truth and to restore your covenant.

Do not rush into conflict. We are taught to deprecate all conflicts, instead of rushing upon them. When we are not summoned, we should be quiet, and wait for the time of conflict. You were summoned by your own fear, not by proof of her sin. Be quiet enough to see the difference.

As for work, I will pray that God opens a door quickly. But do not lay a deadline on the Lord as though He owed you. Pray, and then work. Cast everything on Him, yet work also yourself, embarked in the labors and the conflicts. Take whatever honest labor is available. Ask your church for help. Do not despise a shelter if God allows it. A shelter is not the end of your name. Shame comes from sin, not from poverty.

Let your prayer be not only for a job, but for a quiet heart. If God gives you a job but your house remains full of suspicion, you will still be poor. If God lets you wait, but you learn peace, you will have gained more than wages. I will pray for both: employment, and a marriage kept from the divisions of the enemy.

Your prayer shows how heavy this moment feels, with tension at home and the weight of needing work and not knowing where you will stay. It is understandable to feel hurt and overlooked when you are without a job and your wife offers help to someone else who already has one, while you are asking for help yourself. That kind of conflict in a home is painful, and it reflects the larger world of conflict we all live in, yet the good news of the gospel is peace. Through Jesus, a person who has been at war with God can have peace with God, and that peace can begin to bring peace inside and peace with others.

God has not put himself in a box. In the old law for cleansing, he even made a way for a person with an incurable condition to be declared clean if God chose to heal him. He left room for himself to work a miracle where man saw no hope. In the same way, your situation with employment and housing may look closed from a human point of view, but we can give God allowance to work as he desires. He is able to open a door for steady work and to provide shelter and daily bread. There was a time when God had prepared more than enough food outside a starving city, while inside the people still went hungry because they did not yet see the provision. God often has provision prepared that we have not yet seen, and we can trust him to make it known in his time and way. I will pray that he provides for you, guides you to honest work, and if you must go to a shelter, that he leads you to a safe place where you can be cared for and continue to seek that steady job.

In your marriage, try to move toward peace rather than letting the disagreement harden. The Scriptures show that God’s design for marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and his best is faithfulness, patience and reconciliation. The provision for divorce in the law was given because of hardness of heart, not because it was God’s ideal. That reminds us not to let our hearts become hard toward one another. When you were laughing together and then suddenly there was an argument over the tablet, that shift can leave you confused and angry. It will help to talk calmly when you are both settled, to tell your wife plainly and kindly that you feel unsupported in your search for work, and to ask how you can help each other. The tablet was a gift to you, and it is reasonable to have boundaries about how it is used, but try to explain your concern without harshness and to listen to her reasons as well. Make no provision for resentment or bitterness to take root. Instead put on the Lord Jesus Christ and choose purity, honesty and kindness in how you speak and act, giving no room for the flesh to stir up strife.

Above all, remember that God has made only one provision for the forgiveness of sin and for peace with himself, and that is through his Son Jesus Christ. No other way can take away guilt. The way to be made right with God is to look to Jesus in faith, just as those who were bitten were told simply to look and live. It was not a complicated work, but trusting God’s appointed provision. If you have not already done so, turn to Jesus, confess your sin, trust that he died and rose for you, and ask him to be Lord of your life. The Holy Spirit bears witness to this truth, and when we believe, God counts the righteousness of Christ as our own.

I pray for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this brother before you. You see his need for work, his concern about housing, and the strain in his marriage. Provide for him according to your wisdom and mercy. Open a door for steady employment that allows him to provide and to live with dignity. Give him and his wife soft hearts toward each other, words that heal rather than wound, and a desire to seek your best for their marriage. Draw him close to Jesus, your only provision for sin, and give him peace with you and peace in his heart as he trusts you day by day. Work this out for his good and for your glory. Amen.
