Spiritual warfare

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for an end to spiritual warfare that has targeted me since I was young. Please also pray for an end to vivid, disturbing dreams that I constantly have - which sometimes are related to the warfare and sometimes are not. Please also pray for me because I'm so overwhelmed and every five seconds, there's something else going on in my life between spiritual warfare attacking me and someone always wanting something from me - I just want to be left alone. Please pray for me to have a better schedule and to stop ending my nights so late. Please pray that God would lead me to new jobs - and possibly the ability to have at least two jobs, one primary and an extra one. I am considering staying now at the jobs I currently have. Please pray for wisdom for me about this and that all issues I have with these jobs would get better for me and my coworkers. Please pray for me to be set free from maladaptive daydreaming and inappropriate sexual thoughts which I keep giving in to especially while falling asleep - and which the enemy seems to be directly increasing temptation toward. The sexual thoughts are really becoming a serious problem in my life and I'm so ashamed. God set me free from sexual sin before. I'm so sad to be falling into it again. 💔 I think because I'm struggling with depression right now, I'm using those thoughts as an outlet. Please pray. Pray that the African American community would be set free from false teachings. Pray for my entire family as we all seem to have the flu - pray that no one caring for me in my sickness would be made sicker while trying to care for me. My dad who was the first one to get sick but was getting better now seems to be coughing a lot again. Please pray for three of my cats - two who were scratching themselves too hard and accidentally caused wounds and the other who was making a strange noise with his mouth the other night but seems fine now. Pray that all my cats would be and stay healthy. I have no money for a vet and don't even know of a good one in our area. We love our pets so much. Please pray that I would stay disciplined in eating according to a diet I have to eat on due to a medical condition. Thank you.

We hear the depth of your struggle, and we stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting every burden to the throne of grace. The spiritual warfare you describe is real, and the enemy seeks to wear you down with fear, isolation, and temptation. But we declare in the name of Jesus Christ that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The vivid dreams, the overwhelming demands, the relentless attacks, these are not from God, who gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2) and peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). We rebuke every assignment of the enemy against your mind, your rest, and your purity in Jesus’ name.

The sexual sin you confess is not a small matter, but neither is the mercy of God. You are not alone in this battle, many have fallen into temptation, but Christ is faithful to provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). The shame you feel is not from the Lord; it is the enemy’s lie to keep you trapped. But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray for a breaking of this cycle, for the Holy Spirit to renew your mind (Romans 12:2) and guard your thoughts with the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17). You are not defined by your struggles, but by the blood of Jesus that covers you. Stand firm in His strength, not your own, and resist the devil so he will flee from you (James 4:7).

Your exhaustion is palpable, and we pray for divine order in your days. The Lord is your Shepherd, He makes you lie down in green pastures and leads you beside still waters (Psalm 23:2). Ask Him to show you what to release, what to prioritize, and how to steward your time wisely. If your current jobs are draining you, seek His guidance about whether to stay or move on. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established (Proverbs 16:3). We pray for favor in your workplace, for unity with coworkers, and for doors to open if He is calling you elsewhere.

For your family battling illness, we pray for complete healing and protection. May the Lord rebuke the sickness and restore strength to your father and all who care for you (Psalm 103:3). We also lift up your precious cats, creatures God entrusted to your care. Ask Him to guide you to affordable, trustworthy care if they need it, and pray over them as the Psalmist declares, “The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:10).

The false teachings in the African American community grieve our hearts, for God’s Word is the only truth that sets people free (John 8:32). We pray for laborers to rise up with sound doctrine, for ears to be opened to the gospel, and for strongholds of deception to crumble in Jesus’ name.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name. We lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your deliverance from spiritual warfare that has tormented them for too long. Break every chain, silence every lying voice, and fill their mind with Your peace. Lord, we rebuke the enemy’s schemes to steal, kill, and destroy, Your Son came that they may have life, and have it abundantly (John 10:10). Forgive them for every sin, including the sexual temptation they’ve given into, and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Restore their purity, their joy, and their hope.

Father, we ask for wisdom regarding their work, whether to stay or seek new opportunities. Provide for their needs, open doors no man can shut, and give them rest. Heal their family from sickness, protect their caregivers, and bring comfort to their hearts. For their pets, we ask for Your healing touch and provision for their care. Strengthen them to walk in discipline with their diet and their time, trusting You to order their steps.

Lord, we pray for revival in the African American community, let truth prevail, let hearts turn to You, and let Your Word be proclaimed with power. Above all, draw our brother/sister closer to You. Remind them that in their weakness, Your strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). Surround them with godly community, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit to walk in victory.

We declare this prayer in the authority of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer. Amen.

We hear how weary you sound, not just from the day-to-day pressures of jobs and illness and late nights, but from a lifetime of feeling targeted. When the warfare has been with you since you were young, it can start to feel woven into the fabric of who you are, and we think that kind of weariness goes deeper than any to-do list can fix. It makes sense that when depression settles in, old habits that once offered a quick escape, even ones that leave you feeling ashamed, can return. That cycle of shame and escape is heavy, but it is not the whole story of who you are, and it is not the last word over your life.

One grounded insight that might serve you right now: the enemy often attacks hardest where we are most exhausted and isolated. You mentioned that the sexual thoughts spike as you are falling asleep, and that you think depression is fueling them as an outlet. That connection matters. When our defenses are low, late at night, alone in the dark, our hearts already heavy, temptation can feel overwhelming. A small, concrete shift might be to invite God into that exact moment, not with a long prayer but something honest like, “Lord, I need your peace more than I need this escape.” The source material we draw from reminds us that praying with a counselee at the start and close of a session changes the tone; in the same way, ending your day by speaking honestly to God, even briefly, can resettle your heart before sleep.

For the disturbing dreams, you might quietly pray before bed, asking Christ to seal your mind and your sleep, and to send his peace to stand guard over the theater of your dreams. You do not have to muster perfect faith or feel anything, just lift the honest need.

Let’s pray for what you truly need tonight.

Lord Jesus, we come with this beloved child of yours who is so tired of fighting, so overwhelmed, and so in need of a safe place to rest. We ask you to break the cycle of spiritual attack that has hounded them since childhood. Silence the voices of accusation and shame. Guard their sleep. Bring refreshment to their body and clarity to their mind as they navigate decisions about work. Heal their dad and the rest of the family from this flu, and watch over each of their cats. Most of all, Lord, meet them in the depression and the loneliness and the place they are most ashamed. Lift their head, restore their hope, and let them feel your nearness tonight. In your name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.

To be harassed by the enemy from youth is a sore trial, yet the conflict is a sign of life, for only the living soul is assaulted. The vivid dreams and the ceaseless demands upon your spirit would wear down the strongest, but remember that the Captain of your salvation was Himself tempted and wearied. As for the shame you feel over those thoughts that trouble you especially at night, let that very shame drive you to the cross. Sin is a shameful, horrible, loathsome, abominable thing, and your conscience rightly recoils from it. But Jesus took upon Himself our sin, and being found bearing that sin He had to be treated as sin should be treated. He was given up to scorn and shame, for in God’s sight sin deserves nothing less. Your shame is ended, for He has borne it! Do not hug the sin and mourn it at once; fly to the blood of sprinkling, for only that can cleanse and quiet the conscience.

Your feeling that you use these thoughts as an outlet for depression uncovers the root. A soul cast down seeks refreshment, but from a broken cistern. Turn your cry mightily to God, for sin only flies before the blood of Christ and the power of the Eternal Spirit. You strive, and that is good, but you will never overcome except through the Lamb. Cry, with the Psalmist, that you may keep His testimonies, and let your prayer be desperate and continual. Sin will tempt often, so pray often. Lay hold of the promise that He will subdue our iniquities; He has power to tread the roots of corruption beneath His feet.

As for your schedule, your labors, and the many cares that press upon you, cast your burden on the Lord. Seek wisdom from Him who gives liberally, and He will direct your path concerning the jobs. The illness in your household and the little wounds of your cats are all known to Him who sees the sparrow fall. Commit them to His care. In your diet, ask for the grace of temperance; the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and discipline is a fruit of the Spirit’s presence. Above all, let nothing move you from the simplicity of the gospel. The only cure for the leprosy of sin is the blood of the Lamb. Stand in awe, and sin not; holy reverence is a great preservative.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The multitude of your trials is no small thing, but neither is it a sign that God has abandoned you. On the contrary, the very intensity of these assaults indicates that you are engaged in a real conflict, and the enemy sees you as a threat. Do not, then, lose heart. When the devil sees a soul striving after virtue, he redoubles his snares, hoping to cast you down through weariness and shame. But remember what the Apostle says: no temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond your strength; with the temptation, He will make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. Your very cry for help is proof that He is already providing that escape. You have fled for refuge to the prayers of the Church, and that is the first and most necessary step.

You say these attacks began when you were young. So too the evil one often marks his prey early, but God has preserved you until this day. The dreams, the intrusive thoughts, the overwhelming sense of being hounded, those are indeed the darts of the evil one, shot especially when the soul is weary and alone. And take special note: the devil attacks most confidently when he sees us isolated. You say you just want to be left alone. That very desire, though natural in your exhaustion, is a snare. When you withdraw into yourself, you give him a handle. Flee, then, not into solitude, but into the company of the saints, into prayer, into the Divine Scriptures. When the waves of shameful thoughts rise, do not engage them as if you could argue them away, but cry out inwardly to Christ, and fill your mind with holy words, a psalm, a prayer. The fantasies you describe, whether daydreams or those that come at night, are like dreams from which you must shake yourself awake. Put off the imaginings of this life; leave the slumber of sin, and be clad in virtue for garments. The hour is late; do not let the day find you still tangled in night visions.

You speak with sorrow of falling again into sexual sin, and you connect it to depression, using those thoughts as an outlet. See clearly: this is not just a bodily impulse; the enemy directly increases the temptation when he sees you weakened by sadness. But to give in is not an outlet; it is a sewer that defiles the soul. You know the shame of it, and that shame, if it leads you to humble repentance, can be medicinal. But do not let it cast you into hopelessness. God set you free before, and He will do so again if you run to Him, not with a divided heart, but with a decisive hatred of the sin. Persevere in prayer, even when you do not feel you are being heard. God delays at times, not out of neglect, but to train you in steadfastness, just as an affectionate mother hides her face so her child will cling to her more tightly.

As for your schedule, your weariness, your jobs, your sick family, and even your cats, bring all these to the Lord continually. He cares for our every need, even the small ones, but He desires that we ask with a trusting heart, not with anxious fretting. The illness in your household and the concern for your animals are burdens He has permitted. In them, learn to depend on His providence, doing what you can and entrusting the rest to Him. Pray for wisdom about your work, and do not be hasty to leap from one thing to another unless the way is made plain. Sometimes the place where we are most afflicted is the very place where God would teach us patience and reliance on Him.

The warfare, the false teachings troubling your community, the depression, all these are real, but they are not greater than the One who is in you. Flee to the Church, both visible and invisible. Do not try to stand alone. You have asked for prayers; now let those prayers carry you as you fight. Every time a foul thought assails you, make the sign of the cross, speak the name of Jesus, and remember that you are not a helpless victim. The same Spirit who led Christ into the wilderness to be tempted will lead you through it. He has already made for you a way of escape. Endure, then, and do not throw away your confidence. The struggle is severe, but the crown is certain for those who do not give way.

The weight you are carrying right now is real, and you are right to bring all of it into the light. The enemy wants you to believe that the turmoil in your mind, the unrelenting demands, and those persistent, shameful thoughts are the truest things about you. But God’s word flips that lie on its head. You mentioned that the sexual thoughts feel like an outlet for the depression and that you keep giving in. What you are experiencing is sin taking an opportunity. The law, the command of God, is good, it shows us what sin is. Many people, like Paul before he understood, think sin is only in the outward act. They believe the strong desire itself is harmless as long as you do not physically follow through. But the commandment, “You shall not covet,” exposes that the very roots, the lustful imagination you are describing, is the sin itself. The enemy is capitalizing on that command to stir up all kinds of desires you would rather not have, trying to prove that you are a slave to them.

But here is the promise you must cling to with both hands: sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. That does not mean you will never face the temptation again, but it means you are not ruled by it. The old life that was born in sin and bent toward sin has been buried. You are not trying to hit a mark and simply missing it while the enemy mocks your failure. The blood of Jesus did not just cover your sin like the old sacrifices of bulls and goats; it put it away entirely. God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for you, so that you might become the righteousness of God in Him. When those thoughts assault you as you fall asleep, they are a fiery dart, but your identity is not found in the failure. Your sin nature was judged at the cross. Look at Christ and see your sin already judged there, on the pole, so that it does not destroy you.

That is where the battle for your mind turns. You are overwhelmed, feeling that every five seconds someone wants something from you, and you just want to be left alone. Your exhaustion is making the spiritual warfare feel sharper. Yet you have been set free from the tyranny of a life that must give in. You were once a slave to sin, free from righteousness. Now, yield your body and your tired mind to God. When you are lying in bed, offer your thoughts to Him as instruments of righteousness. The maladaptive daydreaming and the sexual images are a sin against your own body and mind, a false refuge that leaves you more hollow. You do not have to give in. The grace that overflows where sin abounds is not a license to continue, but the power to say no.

Your shame is heavy, but do not let it drive you into hiding. If we say we have no sin, no root nature of sin, we deceive ourselves. You are facing the reality of a fallen nature, but you are also a child of the new Adam, Jesus Christ, in whom righteousness reigns. The disturbing dreams and the spiritual warfare that has targeted you since childhood are part of a real conflict. The demonic realm knows its time is short, and it seeks to torment those who bear the seal of God. But you have come to the light. The only sin that could eternally condemn you is the sin of rejecting Jesus Christ, and you have not done that. Every other sin was atoned for in His death.

Do not despair over your schedule, your jobs, or your sick family and beloved cats. God cares about the coughing of your father and the wounds your cats have scratched onto themselves. He knows your need for a diet that heals your body and a rhythm that lets you end your nights in rest instead of turmoil. The crushing pressure of people always wanting something from you can be placed into His hands. Ask Him for wisdom about the jobs, and trust that He who did not spare His own Son will lead you. The path forward is not in fighting harder in your own strength, but in yielding yourself to God as one who is alive from the dead. The depression is real, but your life is hidden with Christ in God. He is your Sabbath rest. Let the truth that you are dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus be the soft pillow for your weary head tonight.
