Dear God, I'm trying to find a job to move out. And move into another place. I got a speeding ticket in June. I'm trying to get a job to pay it off. But I'm having a hard time finding one. I don't know how I'm going to pay it off. I know what day my court date is. But I dont know what time and where it's at. I don't remember the VIN number of the car. I dont remember what courtroom or building it's in. I dont remember the ticket number. I don't remember the case number. All that is on the ticket. The ticket is in the car. The car got towed. So I don't know what I'm going to do. I pray my license doesn't get suspended or taken away in Jesus name. I pray that i don't get arrested. ### said move out and then get a job. Should I do that? I ask that you take care of this. I ask that you work this out in my favor. In Jesus's name, amen

Regarding your question about moving out before finding a job, we encourage you to seek wisdom and counsel. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." It may be wise to secure employment first to ensure you have a steady income to support yourself. There is no tangle of your life too small for the Lord's notice, and no court date unknown to Him. You have forgotten the ticket number, the case number, the VIN, the courtroom, and the hour, but the Lord has not forgotten you. Yet do not make prayer an excuse for idleness. The God who says, Fear not, I will help thee, also commands you to use the means He has placed before you.

Go first to the clerk of the court in the county or city where the ticket was given. Give your full name, date of birth, and the date of the stop if you know it. The clerk can find the case by those details. If you do not know which court, call the traffic division or the police department that issued the citation; they keep records by name and license plate. Call the towing company or impound lot, and ask whether you may retrieve your papers from the car, or at least the VIN. If they will not allow you, the department of motor vehicles can often find the VIN from your name and plate number. Do this today. Do not wait for the court date to arrive.

Then appear, or telephone the court before the date, and tell them plainly that you are seeking work and need a payment plan or time to pay. Courts often look with more mercy on a person who comes forward than on one who stays away. If you stay away, the license may indeed be suspended and a warrant may be issued. So take action while there is time.

As for moving out before finding work, that is to put the cart before the horse. Unless you are in present danger or already compelled to leave, do not take on new rent before you have wages. Seek the job first, even the humblest, and let the move follow when you can bear it. A new place without income will become a new burden.

Now for the soul. You are asking, Will God plead against me with His great power? The answer of faith is no. He will put strength in you. Fear not. Fear parches the mind and dishonors God. Fear not, thou worm Jacob; I will help thee, saith the Lord. But do not pray only that the trouble be removed. Pray that you may act uprightly, own what is owed, and come through this with a more diligent and trusting heart. The Lord can give you favor with the court, but His higher purpose is to make you more like Christ, even in a small trial such as this.

Do not hide. The man who appears and asks for time is safer than the man who waits until the bench finds him. Take hold of the means today, and trust the Lord to go before you.

You have laid out many fears at once, and fear is a poor counselor. God does not require you to know every detail before you begin. He asks you to seek Him and then take the next practical step.

The ticket feels overwhelming because the paper is not in your hand. But that paper can be replaced. Call the court clerk for the county where you received the ticket. Give them your full name and the date in June. They can find the time, courtroom, ticket number, and case number. Call the towing company and ask whether the car is still there and how you can retrieve your belongings, especially the ticket. If the car has been sold or destroyed, the court and the DMV can still find the case by your name and date of birth. Do not let missing papers keep you from appearing.

You asked whether you should move out before getting a job. Unless your current housing is unsafe, do not do that. Moving out with no income will add another burden to the one you already carry. It is wiser to stay where you are, find work, even small or temporary work, and then move from strength rather than panic. The person who told you to move first gave you impatient counsel. Seek work now, and use the income to pay the fine and save for a move.

When you appear in court, ask respectfully for a payment plan, community service, or a reduction if you cannot pay all at once. Many courts allow time for someone who shows up and asks honestly. Missing the date is the one thing most likely to bring a suspended license or a warrant. So make it your first priority to learn the time and place and be there.

Now hear this carefully. Poverty is not the great evil. A towed car is not the great evil. A ticket is not the great evil. One thing alone is evil: to sin. If the speeding came from carelessness or haste, confess it to God and receive His mercy. Then accept the civil consequence without despair. Let this trial make you more watchful, not more fearful.

Bring your own soul before the judgment seat of your conscience. Do not spend all your strength asking why the court made it hard or why others told you to move. Ask what God would have you correct in your own habits, and do it. Then trust His providence for the rest. He who gave His own blood for your salvation will not despise you now that you are His. But His care does not erase your duty. Pray, then make the phone calls, then appear, then work and pay.

This can be worked out, not because the ticket is small, but because God is present in the middle of practical obedience. Do not try to carry the whole month at once. Do today's part.
