Son's custody Thursday Court day

Prayer Partner
I am asking for prayers for my son who has court regarding his custody of his 2 children. The mother has not really been an active participant in the kids lives, but now that they are teenagers, she wants them. She specifically said she doesn't want to pay child support, so she wants custody flipped. My son has had them since his son was 2 1/2 and daughter was 1 1/2 years old. The mother is very manipulative and is trying so hard to get them back. I have prayed about this and asked God to please leave the kids in my son's hands as she is going to ruin the fruit. They are both doing very well in school and have been great in his care all these years. The kids have also attended meditation and spoke alot of lies about their dad, per mom's request. I ask that the Judge's eyes and ears be opened to the truth and not deceiving lies. My son is very hurt because of this. Please pray for my son so the judge will see the good person he is inside and he can retain his custody. The mom needs Jesus in her heart alot.

We join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord together and we stand with you and your son in prayer for this court day on Thursday. We understand the pain of seeing children who have been faithfully raised and nurtured now caught in the middle of manipulation and seeing a good father hurt by false words spoken against him. We know God sees what is done in secret and He is the defender of truth and justice.

The Lord tells us that children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is His reward in Psalm 127:3, and He entrusts them to parents to train them up in the way they should go in Proverbs 22:6. Your son has faithfully cared for his son since he was two and a half and his daughter since she was one and a half, and we thank God for his steadfast love and commitment through all these years. To see them doing well in school and thriving in his care is fruit that should not be torn away for selfish gain. God hates lying lips, and lying is not a small matter before Him. Proverbs 12:22 says lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who do the truth are his delight, and Exodus 20:16 reminds us you shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. We rebuke together the manipulation and deceit that has led these teenagers to speak lies about their father at their mother's request, and we rebuke the selfish motive of seeking custody only to avoid paying child support. That is not love for the children but use of the children, and the Lord calls us to defend the vulnerable and do what is right. Psalm 82:3 says defend the weak and fatherless, maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed, and Isaiah 1:17 says learn to do well, seek justice, relieve the oppressed. We also remember that the Lord promises in Psalm 37:5-6 to bring forth righteousness as the light when we commit our way to Him.

We pray for the judge who will hear this case, that God will grant wisdom and discernment as Solomon prayed in 1 Kings 3:9 for an understanding heart to discern between good and evil. We ask that no lie will stand and that the truth will be made clear in that courtroom. We also pray for your son's hurt heart, that he will cast all his anxiety on Him because He cares for us in 1 Peter 5:7, and that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus as promised in Philippians 4:6-7. We pray for these two teenagers, that God will protect their hearts from confusion and bitterness and draw them back to truth and to honoring their father as commanded in Exodus 20:12, and that they will not be held captive to manipulation but will know the freedom of truth.

We agree with you that the mother needs Jesus in her heart and we pray for her salvation and transformation, that she would come to repentance and seek the good of her children above herself. We know God can redeem even this painful situation and Romans 8:28 assures us that we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

We lift this together before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through His name we have access to God and there is no other name by which we are saved.

Father, in Jesus name we commit this custody hearing into Your hands. We ask You to go before this family on Thursday and let Your truth prevail. Open the eyes and ears of the judge to see clearly and to judge with righteous judgment. Expose every lie and silence every deceiving tongue, and let the faithful care this father has shown for so many years speak for itself. Comfort Your son who is hurting, strengthen him, and let him feel Your presence and vindication. Protect these two children, keep them from harm and from being used as pawns, and lead them in Your truth. Convict the mother's heart, bring her to repentance and to a saving knowledge of Jesus, that she may seek what is truly best for her children and not selfish gain. We ask that You will leave these children in the stable, loving home where they have flourished, if it is Your will, and that You will be glorified in the outcome. We trust You as the righteous Judge of all the earth to do what is right. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We've been holding your family in our hearts as Thursday approaches. To have raised your grandchildren since they were just toddlers, to see them thriving in school and at home, and now to watch them caught in the middle and repeating things that wound their dad, we understand why your son feels so hurt and why you are so burdened.

It makes sense that you want the judge to see the long, steady history of care your son has provided and to discern truth from pressure. Courts do look carefully at that kind of consistent, day to day parenting over many years, and at what truly serves teenagers' stability, even when emotions run high in the room.

One gentle way we can support your son right now is to help him stay calm and well prepared with his attorney. Gathering simple, factual records of school involvement, routines and care, and lining up calm, credible voices who have seen his parenting over time, can help the court see the full picture without adding more conflict. And your steady, prayerful presence beside him this week will mean more than you know.

Father, we bring this family to You. Give the judge clear eyes and wisdom, guard these teenagers' hearts from confusion and division, and comfort and strengthen their father in this painful wait. Draw each one closer to Your truth and grace, and lead this family in the path You know is best. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.

*Lord, we lift up this father to You. Open the judge's eyes to see the truth and reject every lie (Proverbs 12:17). Uphold his cause and let him retain custody of his children (Psalm 82:3). Soften the mother's heart and draw her to You. Bring peace, justice, and Your will to pass. In Jesus' name, Amen.*

We have carried your burden to the throne of grace and have pleaded with the Lord on behalf of your son, his children, and this court hearing on Thursday.

We hear the sorrow in your words. For more than a decade your son has borne the daily care of these children, from their tender years until now, and has seen them flourish in school and in character under his keeping. To have their words now turned against him by influence and coaching is a wound that cuts deeply, and we do not wonder that his heart is hurt. The Lord sees what is done in secret and He is not deaf to the cries of a father who has labored faithfully.

We have prayed that the Judge of all the earth, who loves justice and truth, would grant wisdom and discernment to the earthly judge who will hear this case. We have asked that eyes would be opened and ears unstopped, that what is true would be made plain and what is false would be brought to light. Human courts may err, but we pray that in this matter justice would not be perverted and that the welfare of these young souls, who have known stability and care these many years, would be weighed with care and impartiality. We have prayed that your son would be given calmness and clarity to speak truthfully and quietly, and that his character, formed by years of faithful fatherhood, would speak for him.

We have prayed also for these two teenagers. At an age when the heart is so easily swayed, they have been placed in a hard position. We have asked the Lord to guard them from bitterness and confusion, to forgive what has been spoken in falsehood, and to restore truth and trust between them and their father. May the Lord in mercy keep the fruit that has been tended so long from being spoiled, and may He keep these children in His own hand.

And we have prayed for their mother, as you asked, that she might come to know Jesus Christ as Saviour. We do not pray that wrong would be blessed or that manipulation would prosper, but that her heart would be changed by the grace that alone can make a sinner new. There is no true wholeness apart from Christ, and we have asked that the same mercy which satisfies justice at the cross would meet her, convict her, and draw her to repentance and faith. God is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy, yet He will not call evil good, and His justice and His mercy meet only in the blood of His Son.

For your son we pray a further grace, that whether the answer comes as he hopes or through a trial yet to be borne, his soul may be as a weaned child upon its mother's breast, content in the bosom of his God. When desires are stilled and the soul rests in the Lord, there is peace even in the battle. This is a time for kings to go forth to battle upon their knees, and we stand with you in that battle, believing that God hears the prayers of His people and will do what is right.

May the Lord cover your son's head in this day of contention, comfort your own heart as a grandmother who loves these children, and cause His will to be done for the good of these little ones and for His glory. We will continue to entreat the Lord with you until the matter is decided, trusting Him who is both just and the justifier of them that believe.
