Beloved of All
Please pray over my son. He can’t get his life right. Between substances gambling money issues. He finally has a descent job and a nice girl friend but I am so afraid he can’t escape his lifestyle and problems addictions. He is a great person. I am not saying a drug addict living on streets but a person who has been so hurt in past they quit trying and turned to bars and gambling and who now wants a normal life but the issues need resolved. Please pray for a miracle in his life to get all these issues removed and a normal life with this godly woman I believe was sent to him as a miracle prayer. I don’t want him to lose her when she knows his heart before the mistakes. So might be a little more forgiving. Please pray. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen

We hear your burden for your son and we join with you in bringing him before the Lord, for we know how heavy a mother's heart can be when a child is caught between wanting a new life and being bound by old habits. We thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that deliverance comes.

We are encouraged that your son has a decent job and desires a normal life, and that God has placed a godly woman in his path. We pray that if this courtship is of the Lord, it will be pursued in purity and with marriage as the goal, for that is God's design. We believe in the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, and we pray for godly marriages that honor God. The Word says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. Hebrews 13:4 and Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. If your son and his girlfriend are living together or engaging in sex outside of marriage, that is fornication and must be repented of and forsaken. We pray they will choose to honor God with their bodies and pursue courtship that leads to holy marriage if it is God's will, rather than simply a relationship that overlooks sin. A godly woman can be a great encouragement, but she cannot be his savior. Only Jesus can free him, and we pray he will not depend on her forgiveness to cover unrepented patterns, but will seek forgiveness from God first.

We also must speak lovingly but truthfully about the substances and gambling and the turning to bars. These are not just bad habits or coping mechanisms, they are snares that war against the soul and dishonor God. The Scripture says Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise. Proverbs 20:1 and Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit. Ephesians 5:18. Your son's body is not his own to harm, for we are told Or don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Gambling stems from the love of money and the desire for quick gain rather than faithful stewardship, and we are warned For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10 and Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, I will in no way leave you, neither will I in no way forsake you. Hebrews 13:5. We pray your son will turn from these things completely, not just manage them, and that he will find his comfort not in the bar or at the tables but in Christ.

We know he has been hurt in the past and quit trying, but God does not want him to remain in that hurt. He wants to make him new. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17. There is a way of escape for every temptation when he is willing to take it, for No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13. That way of escape will require repentance, accountability, and walking in the light with other believers, not trying to fight alone.

We pray together for him now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up this precious son to You. You know his name, You know his hurts, You know the wounds that caused him to quit trying and to turn to substances and gambling and bars. Lord, we ask You to heal his heart and to reveal to him that You are near to the brokenhearted. We ask for a true miracle of deliverance, not just a removal of consequences but a transformation of his heart. Give him godly sorrow that leads to repentance and grant him the power of Your Holy Spirit to walk in sobriety, self control and integrity. Help him to be filled with the Spirit instead of strong drink, to be a faithful steward of the money You have entrusted to him through this job, and to flee every place and pattern that has enslaved him. We pray You will place Godly men around him, a pastor and brothers in Christ who will hold him accountable, encourage him and teach him Your Word. We pray for this young woman in his life, that if she is indeed a godly woman sent by You, their courtship would be pure, Christ centered and moving toward holy marriage in Your timing, and that she would speak truth in love and not enable sin. If it is Your will for them to marry, prepare them both for that covenant. Most of all, Lord, draw this son into a living relationship with Jesus Christ, that he would confess with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in his heart that You raised Him from the dead, and walk as a new creation. We ask that You protect his job, restore what has been lost financially, and give his mother peace as she continues to intercede, trusting that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask. We pray all this in the saving and delivering name of Jesus Christ, our only hope. Amen.

We encourage you to keep praying without ceasing and to encourage your son to seek help in a Bible believing church, to confess his struggles to a pastor and to find counsel and accountability for both substance use and gambling. Encourage him to cut off access to bars and gambling places entirely and to replace that time with Scripture, prayer and fellowship. Remind him that God loves him and wants to forgive him and give him a future, but that he must choose to turn from sin and follow Christ daily. We stand with you for his complete restoration.

We hear how much you love your son and how heavy this has felt to watch him try to build something steadier while still tangled in substances, gambling and money pressure. It is understandable you feel afraid for him right now, especially when you can see his good heart and the hurt underneath that led him to look for escape in bars and betting. We are thankful he has work he can hold onto and someone who cares for him, and we share your desire to see him walk in freedom and wholeness.

Addictions often grow because they offer a short term escape while creating longer term pain, and lasting change usually needs more than willpower alone. That is why we find a whole person approach helps, with spiritual support alongside practical help.

When he is open, a gentle next step could be helping him connect with one or two trusted supports soon rather than trying to fix everything at once. That might be a pastor for ongoing encouragement, a counselor experienced with substance use and gambling, a peer support group like Gamblers Anonymous or a faith based recovery group, and someone wise with finances who can help make a simple plan for debts. You do not have to carry this alone either, having a friend, small group or pastor to walk with you can make a real difference. If there are any health concerns, we encourage reaching out to a medical professional as well as praying.

Father, we lift this son to You and ask for Your mercy and healing in his life. Give him strength to turn from what harms him, wisdom for each next step, and people around him who will support honest change. Give his mother peace, rest and clear guidance as she loves him. Lead them both in Your will, in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your son has been heard, and we join you in laying this burden before the Lord who does not forget His people. You fear that God’s ear is shut, but the Scripture answers that fear with a gracious question, Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb. Though a mother might forget, the Lord says He will not forget you, nor will He forget your son.

We understand your description of him. He is not without hope, yet he is held by chains that he cannot break himself. The gambling, the drink, the love of money, these are not merely habits to be managed but powers of darkness from which only God can deliver. The Word tells us, He has delivered us from the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of God's dear Son. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive sanctification from a heavenly source. Your son does not only need a better life, he needs a new life, and that is found only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself as a ransom. Job declares the hope, I have found a ransom. And Christ Himself says, If the Son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. No man can free himself by resolve alone. He feels that if he ever rises from his despondency, he can never dare to take an atom of the honor of deliverance to himself, it must be of free grace only.

We also hear your hope for his job and for the young woman in his life. We will not ask God to bless any path that is outside His holy will, for His design for good is clear. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and the gift of intimacy and of living together belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. If this woman is indeed godly, her greatest help to him will not be to overlook his sin more easily, but to point him to repentance, to purity, and to Christ. So we pray not that God would simply preserve a relationship as it is, but that He would make both of them holy, that He would call your son to forsake his sins and to walk in the light, and that if it be His will for them to have a future together, it would be pursued in purity and toward the covenant of marriage, not in the patterns of the old life.

Take comfort that the Lord often uses affliction as His rod of love. What son is he whom the father chastens not. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. These sorrows may be the very means by which God is drawing him to Himself. Remember Peter, who fell grievously, yet the Lord turned and looked upon Peter, and that look severed him from the crowd and restored him. Remember the prodigal, of whom it is said that when he came home and his father had kissed him, he was to his father as if he had never gone away. Such perfect restoration is what Christ offers to all who turn to Him.

Let us pray together.

Our Father in heaven, we bring this son before You, knowing that You have found a ransom in the blood of Your Son. We ask that You would show him his need of Christ and grant him repentance and faith, that he might be delivered from the pit and from the power of darkness. Break the hold of substances and gambling and the love of money upon him, and translate him into the kingdom of Your dear Son. Give him a hatred for sin and a hunger for righteousness. Provide for him honest work, faithful brothers in the church to walk with him, and strength to flee temptation. Give his mother peace, and help her to declare the works of the Lord even in this trial. For this young woman, we ask that You would make her a true helper toward holiness, that both would honor You with purity, and that You would guide their steps according to Your Word. We ask all this not because we are worthy, but because Christ has borne the penalty for sinners, and in His name alone we hope. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your love for your son is clear in this prayer, and we join you in bringing him before the Lord with hope and honesty.

We pray that God would have mercy on your son and draw him to salvation and new life through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved. We ask that the Lord would heal the deep hurts of his past, deliver him from dependence on substances and from the grip of gambling, and give him a hatred for what harms him and a love for what is holy. We pray for true repentance and faith, for strength to turn from bars and gambling tables, for wisdom with money, for steadiness in the work God has provided, and for a community of faithful believers and counselors who will walk with him in accountability and grace. The Lord is able to do what we cannot, and He is patient to restore those who turn to Him.

We also lift up his relationship with this young woman. We thank God for any good and godly influence in his life, and we pray that their relationship would be shaped by God's design. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that sexual intimacy and living together belong within that covenant. So we do not ask God to bless what is outside His will, but we do pray that He would lead them both to pursue purity, to honor Him with their bodies and their choices, and to seek His wisdom for their future. If it is the Lord's will for them to be married, we pray He would guide them there in a holy and orderly way, with counsel and preparation. If not, we pray He would make that clear and give them grace to follow Him. We pray that honesty about the past would be met with truth and grace, and that forgiveness would not be used to excuse ongoing sin but to encourage a new path.

Father, in the name of Jesus we ask for a miracle of transformation in this man's life. Remove what enslaves him, fill him with Your Spirit, renew his mind, and make him steadfast. Give his mother peace and perseverance as she loves him and prays for him. Help him to want a normal life not only for comfort, but for holiness, and to seek first Your kingdom. Give him daily victory, one step at a time, and keep him from returning to old places and habits. We trust You to do what is best for his soul and for this relationship according to Your perfect will. Amen.

We encourage you to keep praying and to encourage your son toward the local church, pastoral care, and practical help for addiction and gambling, so that prayer is joined with obedient steps toward freedom.
