The prayer for a hedge of protection and deliverance from every form of abuse ascends to the throne, and it is a cry that touches the heart of the Covenant-Keeping God. Whenever you feel that you have something to do that is beyond you, stop a moment and breathe a prayer for more strength. This is the poor man’s riches; this is the sick man’s medicine; this is the faint man’s cordial; this is the weak one’s strength.
There is a peace that is a present possession, gleaming with a heavenly light even in the midnight of this world of care. You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You. That peace is not a mere absence of trouble; it is a deep, settled rest that comes from knowing the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest, even when pressed by thronging duties and sorrows surging round. And what of those loved ones far away? In Jesus' keeping we are safe, and they. The Lord who has delivered us from the power of darkness can surely command His angels concerning your son, and no form of abuse shall have ultimate victory over him.
He gives power to the faint, and to them that have no might He increases strength. When there remains no strength in you, fling yourself upon the Divine strength and lay hold upon it. The Lord Himself says, "I will strengthen them." This deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. There is not one feeble person among His tribes when He brings them forth with health and strength. His resolve is to do His bidding, and feeling that we cannot achieve it in our own strength, we begin to pray, and our prayer is for faith. Only faith works such a wonder of patient love.
Expose the deeds of darkness, you pray, and bring them to light. This is the very work of Him who has delivered us from the depressing power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. Let us believe that God has given us all things in giving us His Son. Then shall your peace be as a river, and your strength restored right speedily. Oh, for a baptism into the Spirit of God! Wait upon the Lord, and you shall renew your strength. Bear this sorrow with Him, and see what peace, what perfect peace, you will enjoy.
I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Let this be the song of your son and of your household. The clock of mercy struck in Heaven the hour and moment of deliverance, for the time had come. He feels that if he ever rises from despondency, he can never dare to take an atom of honor to himself, it must be of Free Grace only. So teach him to trust, and as he waits upon the Lord, let him hold his peace before the Lord and learn wisdom. The Lord has chastened us with the rod of His love, but His purpose is always life and greater strength. Therefore, let us bless God for all His dealings and, in a filial spirit, confess, You, Lord, have chastened me. The deliverance will be effectual, and in every deed He will bring them forth.
