Son is taking final exams.
We come before the Lord with grateful hearts, lifting up this precious family as they navigate this season of exams and travel. Father, we thank You for the diligence and hard work this young man has put into his studies all summer. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 2:6, "For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding." We ask now that You would bring to his remembrance everything he has learned, that the Holy Spirit would guide his thoughts and steady his mind during these final exams. Calm any anxiety, Lord, and replace it with Your perfect peace, as Philippians 4:7 promises: "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."
We also pray for safe travels this weekend. For this mother picking up her son, and for the family returning home from the city, we ask for Your protection over every mile. Psalm 121:7-8 assures us, "Yahweh will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. Yahweh will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore." Cover them with Your angels, Lord, and bring them safely to their destinations.
Father, we are so thankful for this family’s trust in You and for their commitment to pray in the mighty name of Jesus. It is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace, and we are grateful for the privilege to intercede on their behalf. May this time of testing and travel draw them closer to You and to one another. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

The promise stands sure that He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. He who travels on the King's Highway is under the King's protection, but he who takes to byroads must protect himself. The way of principle is the way of safety. Commit thy journey to the Lord, and as thou goest and returnest, keep to the path of faith and obedience. This protection is perpetual as well as personal.
Concerning thy son and his examinations, remember that God exalts the low tree. The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, can quicken the memory and bring forth what has been stored by diligent study. Yet the greater matter is that the Spirit would keep him from the snares of pride in success or despair in difficulty. The knowledge that availeth most is the knowledge of Christ. Pray not only for this immediate need but that in all his learning, he may be kept from the way of error, for if ye go in that path, ye cannot expect Divine protection.
Thou dost well to bring thy whole household before the Throne in prayer. Family prayer is the nutriment of family piety and woe to those who allow it to cease. As thou gatherest thy family for travel, think of Noah, who "went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark." There is safety in the family ark of faith. Forget not that forgotten vow bringeth chastisement, and perhaps the rod will fall upon thy family. Let there be no neglect of the family altar, for it is the castle of Protestantism and the wall about thy dwelling.
Our safety lies in our Savior, "God our Savior." He is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. The practical point is, Dost thou and thy household belong to that family, the whole family in heaven and earth? The Holy Spirit indeed brings to remembrance what is needful, but let your son be sober and wakeful as he faces these exams. For if one slumbers even a little, he is swept away quickly. The mind that once sat in the shadow of anxious toil now sees a great light when it leans not on its own strength but on Jesus our guide. In this matter, withdraw from the temptation to frantic worry, just as our Lord Himself withdrew to teach us not to rush headlong into dangers. Commend his recalling of knowledge to God, for if this work of memory be of mere human striving, it will come to naught, but if it is of God, no difficulty can overthrow it.
As for the travels this weekend, journey along the narrow way, being both confident and in fear: confident because of Christ who accompanies you, and in fear because of the precipices on either side. God often permits hardships in this life that we may learn to tremble and trust Him more, yet from His fullness we have all received grace upon grace. He is able to bring your family safely home, and in all these things, let them not be scattered by vain imagination but held fast by prayer.
