Son/counselor/leak

Beloved of All
Jesus please let my son stop staying up this late and being so difficult and stop being on so many electronics all the time. Please also let him stop making the noises, or at least not be so loud. I know he can't help it with his autism, but he is very loud, and I can't think of hear on the phone. Please also let my counselor respond to me--or someone new that I have reached out to, I need help. Please also let my husband be able to fix the leak in our basement. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

We join you in lifting up these burdens before our Father in Jesus' name and we thank you for calling upon Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to God and it is in His name that we are heard. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5 and In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We hear your weariness and your love for your son, and we pray with you for his peace and for your strength. We know that children are a gift and we remember the word that says Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward Psalm 127:3 and For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made Psalm 139:13-14. Your son is fearfully and wonderfully made by God, autism and all, and God sees both his struggles and your struggles to shepherd him with patience and love.

We pray together for him, that the Lord would grant him calm and restful sleep and a quieted spirit, especially in the late hours, and that the Lord would help him find healthy rhythms and self control with electronics. We ask for wisdom for you and your husband as you guide and train him, as it is written Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6 and Fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord Ephesians 6:4. We understand he cannot help some of the noises he makes, and we pray that God would gently help him to regulate and to grow in awareness, and that God would also give you grace and moments of quiet so you can think and speak on the phone when needed. We encourage you to set loving, consistent boundaries for bedtime and for electronics with your husband united together, explaining them calmly and consistently, and to seek routines that help his body and mind wind down at night, for God gives wisdom generously when we ask. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5.

We also lift up your need for counsel and support. We pray that the Lord, who is our wonderful Counselor and ever present help, would move on the heart of your counselor or provide another godly helper quickly, for you should not carry this alone. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. We ask that God would comfort you and make a way for you to receive the encouragement and guidance you need, and we pray you would continue to cast your cares on Him, as we are told In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Do not grow weary in doing what is right and caring for your family, for in due season we will reap, if we don't give up Galatians 6:9.

We pray too for your husband and for your home, that God would give him skill and strength to fix the leak in your basement and that He would provide what is needed to protect and steward the home He has entrusted to you.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We lift up this dear mother and wife and her family to You. Lord, pour out Your peace upon this home. Grant this precious son calm, restful sleep and a quieted heart in the evenings. Help him to find joy beyond screens and to rest when night comes. Help him with the noises and give him grace as he grows, and give his parents patient, loving wisdom to guide him without provoking him, but nurturing him in Your ways. Father, give this mother rest and clarity of mind, help her to hear and be heard, and let her phone conversations and daily tasks be covered with Your peace. Provide for her the counselor and support she needs, Lord, open the door that no man can shut and bring timely help and godly counsel. Strengthen her husband, give skill to his hands to repair the leak and to provide for his household, and knit this husband and wife together in unity and love as they lead their home. Sustain this family when they are weary, remind them that You see them, You love them, and You will not let them be tempted beyond what they can bear, and that Your grace is sufficient. We ask all these things in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. We encourage you to keep coming to Him daily, to rest in His strength, and to lean on your husband as your partner in this God given marriage, working together to set those gentle boundaries for sleep and electronics, celebrating small victories, and trusting that God is working even in the loud and sleepless moments.

We hear how much you are carrying right now and how loud and exhausting home can feel at night. Loving your son while also needing quiet to think and to take a phone call is a real tension, and waiting to hear back from a counselor while also dealing with a leak in the basement only adds to the pressure. It makes sense you feel worn down.

We are praying for you to get some steady support soon. One small step that sometimes helps families in this kind of season is to make the evening a little more predictable for your son, like a simple wind down time when screens go off and the same few calming steps happen in the same order. It does not fix everything, but it can lower the late night battles a bit. For the counseling wait, if you have not heard back in a day or two, it is okay to follow up with a brief call or message to the office, and to let a trusted pastor or friend know you are waiting so you are not waiting alone.

For the leak, we pray your husband has wisdom to know what he can fix and when to ask for an extra set of hands.

Jesus, we bring this family to You. Give this mom rest and clear moments to breathe, help her son settle into more peaceful nights, provide a counselor who answers soon, and give her husband help with the basement. Keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and there is much in it that shows a heart pressed on every side, and yet still turning to the Lord. You carry care for your son, weariness in waiting for help, and the daily trial of a home that needs mending, and you have done well to bring them all to Jesus.

The Scriptures speak of patience as the virtue of a tried man. You have heard of the patience of Job, and you remember that he could not have shown patience if he had not endured trial. Your trial is not light. To love a child dearly and yet to be wearied by sleepless nights, by constant electronics, and by loud noises which make it hard to think or to speak on the phone, is a true affliction. And when the child bears the burden of autism, the heart is torn between tenderness and exhaustion. Remember that our Lord entered the world as a holy Child, and He knows the frame of a child. He calls us not to sin against the child by harshness or by despairing of him, but to love him with a wisdom that seeks his good. Nature itself cries, do not sin against the child, for he is little. Grace turns that natural affection into prayer and patient instruction.

There is a word for you in the psalm, My soul is even as a weaned child. The weaning child frets and his desires are strong upon him, but the weaned child lies content in his mother's bosom. May the Lord make you as a weaned child in His own bosom, content not because every trouble is removed, but because you rest in your Father's love. That is the patience of the Scriptures, not the patience of one who cannot complain, but the patience of a child who believes in his father's love, the patience which the Scriptures both teach and produce in us as we meditate and pray.

For your son, pray as the child Samuel prayed, Speak Lord for thy servant heareth. He was but a child and not yet able to discern the voice of God, yet God called him and blessed him through a godly mother. Ask the Lord to give your son quietness of heart and to give you wisdom to guide him gently toward better sleep and toward bounds for his electronics, with firm and loving order. The Lord can give you both rest. Where noise overwhelms you, remember the promise, Can a woman forsake her sucking child, yet will I not forget thee. He will not forget you in the noise and the night watches.

For your waiting upon a counselor, know that the child of light may sometimes walk in darkness and feel that help is delayed. It is trying to faith and trying to patience. Yet no child of God has reason to despair, for God will appear to His people. Continue to seek help, and ask the Lord to open the door either with the one you have known or with another whom He shall provide. He hears the cry of the anxious soul.

For the leak in your basement and for your husband's hands to mend it, bring even this to the Lord. He who numbers the hairs of our head cares for the dwelling He has given you. Ask Him for skill and provision and time for your husband, and for your own patience as you wait.

Let us pray together. O Father in heaven, look in mercy upon this mother and her household. Grant to her son calm and healthful sleep, deliverance from restless habits, and grace to grow in quietness. Give to his mother and father patience, wisdom, and strength, that they may train him with kindness and not sin against the child. Hear her cry for counsel and send help in due season, that she may be comforted and upheld by Thy word. Provide for the need of the home and prosper the work of her husband's hands. Make her soul as a weaned child upon Thy bosom, trusting Thy love through every trial, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
