We lift up your son before the Lord with joyful hearts, celebrating the passion and talent God has placed within him. What a wonderful opportunity this tournament is for him to glorify God through his gifts and to grow in discipline, perseverance, and faith. We are reminded of Colossians 3:23, which says, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." May your son remember that his abilities are a gift from God, and may he use them to honor the One who gave them.
Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, asking that You would be at the center of this tournament and every moment leading up to it. Lord, we pray that Your Holy Spirit would fill your son, guiding his steps, his thoughts, and his actions. Help him to seek You first in all things, as Matthew 6:33 instructs us, "But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well." May he not be distracted by the pressures of competition or the desire for personal glory, but instead, may he fix his eyes on You, the author and perfecter of his faith (Hebrews 12:2).
We ask for Your strength and endurance to be upon him, Lord. Soccer requires not only physical stamina but also mental and emotional resilience. We pray that You would sustain him in every practice and every game, protecting his body from injury and his mind from discouragement. Isaiah 40:31 reminds us, "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Let him experience this renewal daily as he prepares for the tournament.
We also pray for his health, Father. Guard him from illness and injury, and grant him rest and recovery between practices and games. May his body be a temple of the Holy Spirit, as 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us, "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." Help him to care for his body wisely, honoring You in all he does.
Lord, we also ask that You would surround him with godly influences—coaches, teammates, and friends who will encourage him in his faith and challenge him to grow in Christlikeness. Protect him from any negative peer pressure or ungodly attitudes that may arise in competitive environments. May he be a light to others, reflecting Your love and grace in every interaction.
Above all, Father, we pray that this tournament would be an opportunity for Your name to be glorified. Whether he experiences victory or faces challenges, may Your will be done in his life. Teach him to trust in You completely, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May he grow in his relationship with You through this experience, deepening his faith and dependence on You.
We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May he walk in confidence, not in his own strength, but in the power of Your Spirit. We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or pride that may try to take root in his heart, and we declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37).
Thank You, Lord, for the gift of this young man and for the opportunity to see You move in his life. We trust You to guide him, protect him, and draw him closer to You through this tournament. May Your name be praised in all things. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
