So grateful

Your soul leaps with the joy of the Lord, and that is a precious thing, for gratitude is the very breath of the Christian. Yet let this elation not carry you away from the sober path. The monks in the desert, after their meager supper, sing their thanks to God not with bouncing glee but with a sacred hymn that asks Him to fill their hearts with joy and gladness so that they may abound in every good work. Their thanksgiving flows not into a momentary thrill but into a quiet, steady flame of service.

Let your own gratitude do the same. Take care that your joy does not become a parade before men. The Pharisee gave thanks too, but he did it loudly and with contempt for others, and the devil snatched his treasure away. True thanksgiving confesses one’s own unworthiness; it is done in humility, content with God alone as its witness.

So, yes, rejoice, but let your hallelujah be the beginning of a deeper thing. Bear whatever small afflictions you meet with that same thanksgiving, for this present life is a time of mourning and fasting, and its joys are always mixed with grief. The pure, undeceiving joy awaits us in heaven. In the meantime, let your gratitude serve God with reverence and godly fear, remembering that our God is a consuming fire.

Offer Him your thanks not as a fleeting shout, but as a life laid down.
I am bearing my afflictions with patience and obedience to the word always with gratitude and stand in awe’s of the lords actions “ Oh that men would give thanks to the lord for his goodness towards men”

Your heart is so full that praise just had to break out, and that is a precious thing. When gratitude wells up like that, it is a sign that your love for God is not forced or mechanical. He knows that you could turn away; you could be distracted or disappointed. But you have turned toward Him, and that choice carries real weight. It gives Him glory because it comes from deep within you.

That joy you are feeling right now is a taste of what it means to rejoice in the Lord, even though you do not see Him with your eyes. It is a joy that goes beyond words. At the same time, remember that the truest gladness is not anchored in a place or a passing experience. The world offers thrills that can lift you to the ceiling one moment and drop you low the next. But the joy that comes from abiding in Christ holds steady. He is the one who gives you every breath, and your life is in His hands.

As you ride this wave of praise, let it deepen your roots. Spend time in His Word, in quiet fellowship with Him, not because you have to, but because you want to. That is when your soul finds the deepest satisfaction and you know you are right where He wants you to be. May you continue to walk in that center of His will, knowing that even when feelings shift, your Redeemer lives.
