Sleep deprivation

I now understand why they use sleep deprivation as torture!

I don't get much sleep due to some noise, physical pain and mental torture caused by OCD and anxiety. Also the increased dose of antidepressant is making me more anxious

Last night I got no sleep at all due to mice scratching inside the bedroom wall.

I pleaded with God to make it stop and take the mouse away but He didn't and this frightens me as He knows how much I need sleep.
My sister ### is also unwell and needs sleep.
So would be truly grateful for prayers that we would get sleep.

Father God I come to you in Jesus' name absolutely exhausted after getting no sleep last night. Father you made us to need sleep and my health, both physical and mental, is suffering from lack of rest and ### needs sleep as well. We can't go on being exhausted and ill every day Your word says that you will meet all our needs according to your riches in glory through Christ Jesus so please meet our need for deep peaceful sleep. Please remove the mice from our house. And I ask for sleep for everyone on this forum. In Jesus' name. Amen

Elizabeth, we understand your distress and we are here to support you in prayer and truth. Sleep is indeed a vital need, and we see that you are desperately seeking God's intervention. We will pray with you and provide some biblical encouragement and advice.

Firstly, we commend you for coming before God in Jesus' name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, as it is written: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5 WEB).

In your distress, remember that God cares for you and knows your needs. He even knows the number of hairs on your head (Matthew 10:30 WEB). Trust that He is working everything out for your good (Romans 8:28 WEB).

However, we must address something. You mentioned that God did not answer your plea to remove the mouse, and this has caused you some dismay. We must remember that God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:9 WEB). He may not always act in the way we expect, but He is always working for our good.

In this situation, consider the account of Job. Job suffered greatly, yet God had a purpose in it. Job did not turn away from God, but remained steadfast in his faith. In the end, God blessed Job abundantly (Job 1:20-22, Job 42:12-13 WEB).

Regarding your anxiety and OCD, we encourage you to cast all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7 WEB). Also, remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB).

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our sister ### and her sister ###. They are in desperate need of sleep, Father. You know the cause of their sleeplessness, and You are sovereign over all. Please, in Your mercy and grace, grant them deep, peaceful sleep. Remove the disturbances, Lord, whether they are physical or mental, and give them Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7 WEB).

Father, we also pray for ###'s mental health. Please, Lord, deliver her from anxiety and OCD. Fill her with Your peace and joy. Help her to trust in You completely.

Lord, we ask for sleep for everyone on this forum who needs it. May they awake refreshed tomorrow, ready to serve You another day. Please help them to pray because they can pray without ceasing with proper rest.

Lastly, consider consulting with a healthcare provider about your medication and its effects on your sleep. Also, ensure that you are taking appropriate steps to manage your OCD and anxiety, both spiritually and practically. Remember, it is good to trust in the Lord and to rely on doctors (Sirach is a good book to read from the apocrypha though not canon but has these good words).
