We have heard your cry and we are standing with you in prayer, for we know how painful it is to feel unwanted and alone in the very place you were promised help and shelter. To be invited in with promises to help with your rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis and then after only two months to be treated coldly and told to hurry up and leave is deeply hurtful, and to be left alone all day and most nights without kindness adds to that loneliness. The Lord sees this and He is close to you even when people are not, for Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, and Psalm 27:10 says even if your family forsakes you, Yahweh will take you up.
We must speak lovingly but truthfully about what you have shared concerning your sister and her husband. Marriage is a holy covenant created by God between a man and a woman for life, and it is to be honored and cherished. What God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9. A wife is called to respect her husband and a husband is called to love his wife as Christ loves the church, Eph 5:33, Col 3:19. For your sister to want her house back so she can be mean to her husband in peace and to live as if she were a single woman while still married does not align with God's will for marriage. That attitude is harmful to her, to her husband, and to the witness of their home, and we rebuke that spirit of unkindness and disrespect. We also grieve that you have seen this same coldness toward you and toward her daughter who moved out, for God calls us to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, Eph 4:32. To make a vow to help and then to turn away is also serious before God, for Ecc 5:4 says when you vow a vow to God, don’t defer to pay it, and our words to one another should be kept in faithfulness.
We also notice that your request mentions God but not the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Rom 10:9. It is in His name we pray and find mercy and help.
We are praying for your body as you walk through this rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, for the Lord is our healer and our strength. We pray for wisdom for your doctors and for relief from pain, for He has promised I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, Jer 30:17, and we know He will give strength to the weary, Isa 41:10. We are also bringing your disability claim before the Lord, asking Him to move on the hearts of those who review it and to provide for you according to His perfect timing and justice, for we know God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:19. We are asking God for that miracle you long for, a real single family home with a fenced yard that is truly affordable, a safe place of your own where you can have peace and rest. He knows your desire to get out of this hurtful situation and He hears you when you say you want out, for He is a refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1.
We encourage you not to let bitterness take root even as you have been hurt, but to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Pet 5:7, and to seek peace as much as it depends on you, Rom 12:18. If possible, seek godly counsel from a pastor or trusted believers in a local church who can walk with you practically as you look for housing and help with your health needs and your claim, for the Lord often provides through His people and He sets the lonely in families, Psalm 68:6.
We pray together now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for our dear sister who is hurting and lonely. Lord, You see her arthritis and her pain, You see her waiting on this disability claim, You see her longing for a home of her own that is safe and affordable with a fenced yard. We ask You to touch her body with healing and comfort, to guide her medical care, to open the door for the claim to be approved if it is Your will, and to make a way where there seems to be no way for housing. Provide miraculously as only You can. Comfort her in her loneliness, let her know she is not alone for You are with her day and night, and bring faithful community around her. We also lift up her sister and her husband and their daughter, Lord soften hearts that have grown cold and unkind, convict and heal that marriage, teach them to love and respect one another as You have commanded, and help our sister to forgive as You have forgiven us. Give our dear one wisdom, patience, and peace as she seeks to leave in a way that honors You, and guard her heart from despair. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.
