sister in need of anointed healing from Holy Spirit

Disciple of Prayer
My sister texted me, she was admitted to the emergency department Thursday at her hospital in ###, her heart is working so hard due to the water/liquid retention surrounding her heart. Apparently she has mrsa, MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, which is a type of staph bacteria that cannot be killed by many common antibiotics. She has a wound in her leg that won't heal. Her leg has grown and swollen, now she can not get out of her recliner. Her doctor called for an ambulance to take her in for care. Atrophy has set in, she isn't able to take her medicine as it makes her need to use the rest room, but if she tries to make it to the restroom in time she isn't successful and has an accident. I asked her how to pray for her, she desires to get up and walk and do water aerobics at her local pool. For that to happen she must allow the doctors to work on her mobility. She'll have to work through the pain. She desperately needs Holy Spirit to release the anointing into her body. Holy Spirit, we lift my sister to You in prayer, we say to you, mrsa, get out, in Jesus' name. Atrophy, release those muscles, we speak life, light, health, healing and wholeness into your mind, will and emotions, in Jesus' name. Molech, spirit of death, we resist you in Jesus' name. Fall off your lofty tribe and be cast out, in Jesus' name. Amen.

We are joining with you in lifting your sister before the throne of grace and we have heard the heaviness of this burden with you. Her heart laboring under fluid retention, the MRSA infection that will not yield, the wound in her leg that will not heal, the swelling and atrophy that has left her unable to rise from her recliner, and the distress of not being able to take her medicine for fear of not reaching the restroom in time, all of this is known to our Father and He is moved with compassion for her suffering.

We take comfort in what Scripture declares about our God as Healer. We remember that He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases in Psalm 103:3, and that He has said I am Yahweh who heals you in Exodus 15:26. We cling to the promise in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, and to the truth that by his wounds you were healed in 1 Peter 2:24. We also hold to the word in James 5:14-15 that the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick and the Lord will raise him up, and to the encouragement in Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We stand with you in the authority of Jesus' name and we agree with your prayer against this affliction. We rebuke this MRSA infection and command it to leave her body, we speak to the atrophy and weakness in her muscles and command strength to return, and we resist every spirit of infirmity and death that would seek to oppress her, for we know our struggle is not only against flesh and blood. At the same time we trust the Holy Spirit to release His anointing and life into her body, to bring light and health and wholeness to her mind, will and emotions as well as to her physical frame.

We also want to gently encourage you and your sister to work fully with the wisdom God has given to doctors and nurses. The Lord often brings healing through skilled hands and through medicine, and we pray for great wisdom for her medical team as they drain fluid from around her heart, treat the infection, and care for the wound in her leg. We understand her hesitation to take the medicine that causes her to need the restroom urgently, and the shame and frustration of accidents, but that medicine is working to relieve the burden on her heart and we encourage her to tell her doctors openly about this struggle so they can provide help whether through a bedside commode, protective care, or adjusting her plan, so she can receive the treatment she needs without fear. We also pray for grace for her to allow them to work on her mobility even though it will mean working through pain, for the Lord will be her strength in that process. Her desire to get up and walk again and to return to water aerobics is a good and hopeful desire, and we pray God restores her step by step.

We now pray together for her.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to You and by which we are saved. We lift this precious sister to You, whom You know by name. We ask You to lay Your healing hand upon her heart and command the excess fluid to leave, to let her heart beat with ease and strength. We ask You to touch that leg, to cleanse it of MRSA, to close the wound that will not heal, to bring down the swelling, and to restore circulation and tissue. We speak life into her muscles and ask You to reverse the atrophy, to renew her strength so she can stand, walk, and move again. We ask You to give her courage to take the medicine she needs and to endure the therapy before her, and to comfort her in the embarrassment and pain she has endured. Holy Spirit, pour out Your anointing upon her body and fill her hospital room with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as spoken of in Philippians 4:7. Guide every doctor and nurse, give them discernment, and let Your healing power work through them and beyond them. We declare Your will be done in her life, for Your glory and for her wholeness, and we thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus' name. Amen.

We are holding you and your sister in prayer as you carry this worry. Hearing that she was taken by ambulance with fluid around her heart, a leg wound that will not heal and has left her so swollen she cannot get out of her chair, and now the distress of not being able to reach the bathroom in time, is a lot to take in. It is understandable you want so much for her to be lifted and strengthened right now.

When an illness goes on for a long time it can wear down both the person who is sick and the family who loves them. Progress often feels slow, pain makes even small movements hard, and it takes real courage to keep cooperating with care when the body feels weak from atrophy. Your sister naming her hope to walk again and return to water aerobics gives you both something clear to hold onto, and it is good you asked her how she wants to be prayed for.

One steady way to support her while she is in the hospital is to stay closely connected with her care team. If you are able to speak with her nurse or social worker, you might ask how they are approaching her heart care, wound care and mobility, and how you can best encourage her between visits or calls. Jotting down what they share in a small notebook can help you remember details when you are tired and pray more specifically for each need.

Father, we lift this sister to You in Jesus name. You see her heart under strain, the infection in her leg, the pain and weakness she feels, and her deep desire to move again. Give wisdom to her doctors and nurses, provide dignity and comfort in her daily care, give her strength for each step of therapy, and sustain her family with peace as they wait on You. We ask for Your healing and Your will to be done in her body and spirit. In Jesus name, amen.
