We understand the heavy burden you carry, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. The battle against lust, pornography, and masturbation is one that many face, but through Christ, there is victory and freedom. These sins are deeply rooted in the flesh and the enemy’s lies, but God’s Word declares that we are no longer slaves to sin—we have been set free by the blood of Jesus Christ. The first and most critical truth we must address is that salvation and deliverance come only through faith in Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved, and it is only through His name that we have access to the Father. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now. Repent of your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be your Lord and Savior. Without this foundation, true deliverance is impossible, for it is Christ who breaks the chains of sin.
The Bible is clear that sexual immorality, including lust, pornography, and masturbation, is sinful and dishonors God. Jesus said in Matthew 5:28, *"But I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart."* This shows how seriously God takes even the thoughts and desires of our hearts. Likewise, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 commands us to *"Flee sexual immorality! 'Every sin that a man does is outside the body,' but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."*
Masturbation is often tied to lustful fantasies, which are equally condemned in Scripture. Job 31:1 says, *"I made a covenant with my eyes; how then should I look lustfully at a young woman?"* Our thoughts must be taken captive and submitted to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). The enemy uses these sins to create strongholds in our minds, but we are called to renew our minds daily through the Word of God (Romans 12:2). Pornography, in particular, is a snare that distorts God’s design for sexuality, reducing it to something selfish and empty rather than the beautiful, covenantal gift He intended it to be within marriage.
We must also address the lie that these sins are "harmless" or "private." They are not. They defile the temple of the Holy Spirit, create bondage, and hinder your relationship with God. They also distort your view of love, intimacy, and purity, which can have lasting consequences in future relationships, particularly in marriage. If you are single, these sins can corrupt your heart and make it difficult to pursue a godly spouse with purity. If you are married, they can destroy trust and intimacy with your spouse. Either way, they must be confronted with the truth of God’s Word and the power of His Spirit.
Deliverance begins with repentance—a turning away from sin and toward God. 1 John 1:9 promises, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* True repentance involves not only feeling sorry for your sin but also taking active steps to turn from it. This may include removing triggers (such as deleting apps, installing accountability software, or avoiding certain environments), filling your mind with Scripture, and seeking godly accountability. James 5:16 encourages us to *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."*
You must also recognize that this battle is spiritual. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that *"we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* This means you cannot fight this battle in your own strength. You need the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), the power of the Holy Spirit, and the support of fellow believers. Prayer and fasting are powerful tools in breaking spiritual strongholds (Matthew 17:21). We also encourage you to memorize and meditate on Scripture, as Jesus did when He was tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11).
If you have fallen into these sins repeatedly, do not lose heart. The apostle Paul struggled with his own sins and cried out in Romans 7:24, *"What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?"* His answer in the next verse is our answer too: *"I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord!"* God’s grace is sufficient, and His mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). He is not waiting to condemn you; He is waiting to restore you. Proverbs 24:16 says, *"For a righteous man falls seven times and rises up again."* Keep rising. Keep fighting. Keep turning to Jesus.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is trapped in the bondage of lust, pornography, and masturbation. Lord, we ask that You break every chain of sin that has held them captive. Father, forgive them for every impure thought, every lustful glance, and every act of sexual immorality. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus and create in them a pure heart, O God (Psalm 51:10). Renew a right spirit within them and restore the joy of Your salvation.
Lord, we rebuke the enemy who has sought to destroy their life through these sins. Satan, we command you in the name of Jesus to release your grip on their mind, body, and spirit. Every stronghold of lust, every addiction to pornography, and every habit of impurity must be broken now by the power of the Holy Spirit. We declare that our brother/sister is no longer a slave to sin but a slave to righteousness (Romans 6:18). Fill them with Your Spirit and empower them to walk in victory.
Father, we ask that You expose every hidden trigger and every area of weakness. Give them the wisdom to flee temptation (1 Corinthians 6:18) and the strength to resist the devil (James 4:7). Surround them with godly accountability and brothers/sisters in Christ who will stand with them in this battle. Help them to fill their minds with Your Word, to meditate on what is pure and lovely (Philippians 4:8), and to seek You above all else.
Lord, if they have not yet surrendered their life to You, we pray that today would be the day of salvation. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and their inability to overcome sin apart from You. Draw them to Yourself, Lord Jesus, and let them experience the freedom that comes from knowing You.
We also pray for healing from any shame or condemnation they may feel. Let them know that Your love is greater than their sin and that Your grace is sufficient. Restore their confidence in You and help them to walk in the freedom You have purchased for them.
Finally, Father, we ask that You would prepare them for a future of purity. If they are single, guard their heart and mind as they seek a godly spouse. If they are married, restore their marriage and help them to honor their spouse with purity and love. Let their life be a testimony of Your transforming power.
We pray all these things in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to take immediate action. Delete any pornographic material, install accountability software (such as Covenant Eyes or Ever Accountable), and reach out to a trusted believer or pastor for support. Begin reading God’s Word daily, especially passages that speak to purity and victory in Christ (e.g., Psalm 119:9-11, 1 Corinthians 10:13, Galatians 5:16-25). Remember, this is not a battle you have to fight alone—Jesus is with you, and He has already won the victory. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will lead you into freedom. We are standing with you in prayer and believe that God is at work in your life even now. Do not give up. The Lord is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24).
