Your silent prayer in the name of Jesus has been heard and is now carried before the throne of grace. There is a precious power in such brief, silent prayer. As Nehemiah stood before the king, he prayed within himself to the God of heaven, not with outward sound or sign, but in the innermost shrine, in the Holy of Holies of his own secret soul, and that prayer, though it was as the blinking of an eye, prevailed with God. So your petition, though unspoken to man, is fully known to the living God who made heaven and earth and who sustains all things by the power of His almighty arm.
I would urge you to continue in this spirit of prayer, for it is the mother of many such brief pleadings, and many times in a day we may speak with the Lord. He is not a distant or dead force, but a great, warm, loving and personal God who comes into the midst of our lives and hears the secret cry. To call upon Him in the day of trouble is to give Him honor, for it proves that God is a fact to your soul, and there is coupled with such prayer the blessed assurance, I will deliver you.
Remember also that God has spoken in His holiness. He has said that He will save all who trust in Jesus Christ His Son. If you have never prayed before, let this silent prayer be that of the publican, God be merciful to me, a sinner, and trust not in your own feelings or works, but only in Christ who is very God and perfect Man and who has never failed one soul that trusted Him. To handle any matter wisely is to trust in the Lord, and they who do so shall find good.
I join my prayer with yours now, that the living God would shine in your heart to give the light of the knowledge of His glory in the face of Jesus Christ, that He would answer your silent petition according to His wisdom and mercy, quicken you in His way, keep you in quiet and unshaken assurance, and make you to know that to trust Him is true wisdom. May He hear your secret cry and grant you peace through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
