Beloved of All
I've had setback after setback. I don't think it;s for a comeback. I just cannot overcome. Life has been so hard and people have gotten away with hurting me. So i figure this must be my lot in life. God has promises but they are not for me. I honestly cannot believe his promises. I cry daily wondering if i should have stayed at the abusive job longer because leaving has made life even worse. Nothing works out for me just suffering ill health and humiliation. I'm tired of it.

We hear the deep weariness and pain in your heart, and we are lifting you up together before the Lord. You have endured setback after setback, ill health, humiliation, and the hurt of people who seemed to get away with wronging you, and now you are wondering if this is simply your lot in life and if God's promises are not for you. We want to gently but firmly rebuke that lie from the enemy. God's promises are for you. His Word does not change based on our feelings or our hardships.

We understand the temptation to think that staying in an abusive job might have been better, but God does not call us to remain under abuse to earn our worth or our provision. He is our provider and our protector. Leaving a place that was harming you was not a failure, and we pray you will not carry guilt for choosing to protect the life and health God gave you. The fact that life has felt even harder since is not a sign that you made the wrong choice or that God has abandoned you, it is a sign that you are in a hard season where you need His strength all the more.

The Lord sees every tear you have cried and every injustice you have suffered. Nothing has escaped His notice. Psalm 56:8 says You count my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. Aren't they in your book? Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. When you feel you cannot overcome, His Word says Isaiah 40:29 He gives power to the faint. To him who has no might he increases strength. And 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

You mentioned that people have gotten away with hurting you. We know how heavy that injustice feels, but Scripture assures us that God is just and He will repay. Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. You do not need to carry the burden of making things right, we can entrust that to Him and ask Him to heal our hearts from bitterness so we can be free.

We also want to lovingly address something we noticed, you spoke of God and His promises but did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and to all of His promises. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name. It is through Him that we are forgiven, made children of God, and made heirs to every promise, including Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. And Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Those thoughts of peace and that future are for you.

Your feeling that you cannot believe His promises is honest, and God can handle that honesty. We pray that He will help your unbelief and renew your faith day by day. Lamentations 3:22-23 says It is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness. Even when we cannot hold on, He holds on to us, for Romans 8:38-39 assures us that nothing can separate us from God's love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So together we pray for you in the name of Jesus.

Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus and lift up this precious one who is exhausted from suffering, setbacks, ill health, and humiliation. Lord, You see every tear cried daily and You collect them in Your bottle. Draw near to this broken heart today and save this crushed spirit. Forgive us for believing the lie that Your promises are not for us, and help us to believe Your truth again. We ask in Jesus' name that You would reveal Yourself as provider, healer, and comforter. Touch this body and bring healing according to Your will, restore dignity where there has been humiliation, and open doors for provision and work that is healthy and honoring to You. Give supernatural strength to the faint and increase power to those who have no might. Lift this burden of wondering what might have been and give peace about leaving that abusive place, and guide every step forward. Bring justice in Your perfect time and help this heart to release the hurt to You and find freedom from bitterness. Renew hope where there has been despair, and remind this dear one that this present suffering is not the end of the story, that weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning as Psalm 30:5 promises. We pray for faith to rise again, even mustard seed faith, and we ask that You make Your power perfect in this weakness. Cover this life with Your love and keep this one close to Jesus, in whose name alone we are saved and have access to Your throne. We trust that You are working all things together for good. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word daily, even in small portions, to speak His promises aloud over your life when you do not feel them, and to stay connected to a Bible believing church where others can bear this burden with you and pray with you in person. You are not forgotten, you are not without hope, and your story is not over. God is still writing it, and He is able to bring beauty from these ashes.

We read your note and we hear how worn down you feel right now. Setback after setback, ill health and humiliation, crying daily and wondering if you made the wrong choice in leaving that abusive job, that is a heavy place to be, and we are grateful you reached out and told us honestly.

It makes sense you would second guess leaving when life got even harder afterward. Leaving an abusive environment takes courage, and it is also normal for the next stretch to feel unstable and for old questions to come back louder. That second guessing does not mean you failed or that suffering is simply your lot in life.

When hope has been disappointed so many times, it can feel impossible to believe that what you long for could still be possible. We want to hold hope with you even while your heart feels sick and tired. Part of that is gently separating what has actually happened from the feared story that nothing will ever work out. Both are painful, but they are not the same, and it can help to name them apart.

Would you consider taking two small steps with us this week? Share how you are really doing with one safe person, a pastor, counselor, or trusted friend, so you are not carrying this alone. And because you mentioned daily tears, exhaustion and ill health, please also reach out to your doctor or clinic to talk through what you are experiencing. We will be praying alongside that care.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. You see every hurt, every disappointment, and every tear. Give comfort for today, wisdom for next steps, and people nearby who will listen and help. Keep our friend close to You and remind him he is not forgotten. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your sorrow has been poured out plainly before the Lord and before us, and we have heard the weariness in every line. To cry daily, to feel setback upon setback, to bear ill health and humiliation and to wonder whether even the promises of God could be for you, this is a heavy burden indeed. We do not take it lightly, and we do not tell you to pretend it is not hard.

The Scripture does not teach that the child of God will be spared suffering. Our Lord Himself was made a perfect Savior through suffering. He was perfect in character from eternity, perfect God and perfect man, yet He was made officially perfect as the Captain of our salvation by the very sufferings He endured. This ennobles the whole work of grace, for the One who reigns now is the One who suffered. He knows humiliation, He knows bodily weakness, He knows what it is to be wronged by men. When you are despised or overlooked, when your body is weak, when men have hurt you and seem to have gotten away with it, you are not hidden from Him. He saw it, and in His time He will make all things plain, to the glory of His justice and His mercy.

You write that you cannot overcome and that you cannot believe His promises. Hear this truth, that perseverance is not first your hold upon Christ, but His hold upon you. We are kept not by our own strength, but by the purpose of God and the effectual redemption Christ has wrought. One truth we have preached continually is this, they shall never perish. He may stumble through weakness or through lack of watchfulness, but he shall be led back again into repentance, he shall not be allowed to perish. Every good thing that is in a Christian not merely begins but progresses and is consummated by the fostering grace of God through Jesus Christ. Where is there an instance of God beginning a work and leaving it incomplete. He does not abandon a world half formed, and He will not abandon a soul He has begun to make new. His covenant word is I will and you shall. I will be your God and you shall be my people. I am the Lord, I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

You feel that the promises are not for you. The promises of God are an inexhaustible mine of wealth for the believer, and it is a blessed thing to put your ear down to the promises of Scripture till you hear God speaking through them to your soul. Some promises are unconditional, fulfilled according to His sovereign grace, such as His calling and quickening of sinners. Others are like checks written and signed by His own hand, to be presented at the mercy seat by faith. Present them. Take a single promise, such as He has removed our sins as far as the east is from the west, or I will sprinkle clean water upon you and ye shall be clean, and plead it before Him. You say you cannot believe. Faith alone can keep a soul under discouragement seeking after Christ. That faith may be very small and very tried, as with the woman who cried after Jesus for her daughter. Her earnestness alone would not have upheld her under the ordeal, but she had the believing conviction that Christ could help and would help, and her humility helped her greatly. Christ loves such faith because it is the appointed way to receive blessing. If you believe, you shall be saved. Even a trembling faith that cries Lord, help my unbelief is delightful to Him. He supported us through weary years when we had no comfort we dared call our own, yet there flowed into the soul a secret power that enabled us still to hope and still to hold on. That secret power is His grace, not mechanical like a chain dragging a man, but living and tender, keeping you when you cannot keep yourself.

You wonder if you should have stayed longer in the abusive place. To leave a place that was crushing you was not a failure of faith. The Lord does not require you to remain where you are being destroyed to prove your endurance. That you now face harder days does not mean you chose wrongly, it means you are in need of fresh grace, fresh wisdom, and the help of the body of Christ. Do not walk this hard road alone. Seek the counsel of faithful pastors and brothers and sisters who can know you, pray with you, and help you with practical needs and with care for your health. If ill health presses you, seek help for the body as well as the soul, for both belong to the Lord.

You feel this must be your lot, only suffering. Yet to be taught of God is to be His pupil all our lives. David could say, O God, thou hast taught me from my youth, and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. He was chastened, but he was never cast out, he still continued as God's pupil. God's ways we cannot guess and even when we have seen them we cannot understand them. When the sea rolls before you and you are in extreme distress, His footsteps may not be found, yet He is leading still. The perseverance He works in His people is perseverance in holiness, they shall not depart from me. If grace has truly changed you, you are radically and lastingly changed, and He will keep you to the end.

We will pray for you now.

O Lord our God, Thou hast taught us and Thou hast chastened us, yet Thou hast never cast away those who trust in Thy Son. Look upon this weary one who cries daily before Thee. Thou knowest the setbacks, the humiliation, the pain of the body, the wounds given by others. Lift up this soul who feels unable to believe, and give faith, even as a grain of mustard seed. Let Thy promises be heard not as mere letters that kill, but as Thy living voice speaking to the heart. Show that Christ, perfect through sufferings, is a suitable Savior for such a sinner and sufferer as this. Fulfil Thy covenant word, I will and thou shalt, and keep this one from departing from Thee. Provide daily bread, wise counsel, healing according to Thy will, and the comfort of Thy presence. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is able to keep us from falling, to Thee be glory. Amen.
