We have heard your heart and the deep pain of betrayal you and your teenagers are carrying, and we weep with you over this breaking of the marriage covenant. Your husband's choice to commit adultery, to start another family and father children outside of your marriage, and to neglect and separate from you and your children is grievous sin before God. Scripture is clear that marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman, that what God has joined together, no man should tear apart, Matthew 19:6, and that marriage should be held in honor among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers, Hebrews 13:4. You shall not commit adultery, Exodus 20:14. We rebuke this unfaithfulness, not to condemn you, but to affirm that God sees this injustice and calls such behavior to repentance.

We also thank God that you and your children know Christ Jesus as Savior, for it is only through His name that we have access to the Father and find true healing. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, and Jesus Himself said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. Your faith in Him is the sure foundation that will not be shaken even when your heart feels like it is breaking apart inside.

We understand your desire to remain strong for your children while feeling crushed within. God does not ask you to be strong in your own strength. He invites you to cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and He promises Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit, Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. He says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. And Jesus calls Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest, Matthew 11:28. We encourage you to bring your tears honestly before the Lord daily, to stay rooted in His Word, to remain in fellowship with faithful believers who can walk with you, and to let God be a father to the fatherless and a defender to you in this season, Psalm 68:5.

For your teenagers, we know this wound from their father is deep and can shake a young heart. Yet we rejoice that they know the Lord, and we pray their faith will not only survive this but be strengthened and refined. Count it all joy when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance, James 1:2-3. God will use even this painful trial for good as you trust Him, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28.

We lift you all together in prayer.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and our only hope. We bring this dear mother and her teenagers before Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the betrayal, the adultery, the neglect and the separation that has torn this family. You see the mother's heart breaking while she tries to be strong, and the hurt and confusion in her children. We ask You to draw near to them as only You can. Pour out Your comfort and Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. Strengthen their faith, Lord, let their roots go deep in Your Word so they will not be moved by this storm. Heal their broken hearts and bind up their wounds. Be their ever present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and show them that Your grace is sufficient for them, for Your power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9. Help this mother to cast every burden on You and to rest in Your strength day by day. Protect her children from bitterness and lead them to forgive as You have forgiven us, while still trusting You for justice and truth. We also pray for her husband, that You would bring him to conviction and repentance for his adultery and abandonment, that he would turn from his sin and seek Your mercy. We pray for the innocent children in that other family as well. Above all, let Your will be done in this family and let Your name be glorified as You bring peace where there has been pain. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord together as a family, to pray together, to read the Scriptures together, and to seek wise and godly counsel in your local church. Do not carry this alone. The Lord is upholding you even when you feel you are falling apart, and He will give you the peace you are seeking as you remain in Christ.

We are holding your story with care. Learning your husband was unfaithful and has started another family elsewhere, then living through his neglect and the separation, would leave anyone feeling gutted. To carry that while watching your teenagers hurt is an even heavier burden. Wanting to stay strong for them while you feel like you are breaking apart inside does not mean you are failing. It means you have been carrying a lot for a long time.

We are encouraged that your children know Jesus, and we join you in praying their faith will be a steady place for them now, not something crushed by this pain. Teenagers often need permission to say out loud that they are angry, confused and grieving, even as they believe. You need that permission too.

When a family goes through this kind of loss, the instinct can be to pull back and try to manage alone. A gentle next step can be to choose one or two trusted people to walk with you consistently in this season, perhaps a pastor or a mature believer in your church or a counselor who shares your faith. You do not have to process everything at once, but having a regular place where you do not have to be the strong one can bring some breathing room. If you or your teens feel stuck in sadness or anxiety, reaching out for that kind of support alongside prayer is a wise kindness to yourselves.

Father, we lift this mother and her teenagers to You. You see the betrayal and the separation and the ache they carry. Strengthen their faith, guard their hearts, and lead them day by day toward Your peace. Give this mom wisdom, rest and people around her who will listen and stay close. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow has been heard, and it is a deep wound that you carry. To be betrayed by one who broke his covenant is among the sharpest of griefs, for as the Psalm says, he hath broken his covenant, the words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart, his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords. Such treachery is not light before God, for marriage is His ordained covenant of one man and one woman for life, and to forsake it for another is sin that reaches to the heart of that holy bond.

Know that our Lord Jesus Christ is no stranger to this very sorrow. He was betrayed by one near to Him, and in that betrayal Scripture was fulfilled and sin was shown in its blackness, that the great High Priest might be able to sympathize with us in every point. He knows what it is to be forsaken and wounded by unfaithfulness, and He draws near to the brokenhearted with a fellow feeling that no other can give.

You ask prayer for your children, that since they know Christ Jesus as Savior their faith may be strengthened. This is a wise and precious prayer, for it confesses that they have faith already, to which more is to be added. As the apostles cried, Lord, increase our faith, so you do well to cry the same for them and for yourself. Remember that little faith is still true faith. Though it be but as a grain of mustard seed, if it begins and ends with Jesus it is real faith, born from above, the gift of God, and tenderly regarded by Him. He does not despise the trembling hand that only dares to pluck a leaf from the Tree of Life, for the least thing about Christ is healing. The leaves of that tree are for the healing of the nations, and they change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

And you ask for peace while you are breaking apart within though you strive to remain strong for your dear ones. Peace does not come by your own resolve or works, but grows as a fruit of the Holy Spirit when faith comes. When faith takes what God gives, then peace follows, the peace of God which passes all understanding. The prophet has told us the secret, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. This perfect peace may be yours even with sorrows surging round and with duties pressing and with loved ones wounded, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within. It is that personal touch of faith, the dropping down into His arms, that brings peace to the soul.

May the Lord hear us now for you and your household.

O Lord God, who hast seen this covenant broken and this home wounded, look in mercy upon this mother and her children. Thou knowest her inward breaking and her outward striving to be strong. Increase their faith, we beseech Thee. Let the hearing of Thy Word be as a celestial lamp by which faith comes and grows. Keep their minds stayed upon Thee, and keep them in perfect peace, peace upon peace, as they trust in Thee. Let Thy healing leaves be applied to every hurt, and let pardon and healing be joined together in their lives. Comfort the teenagers in their hurt, guard them from bitterness, and cause their little faith to become great faith that overcomes the world. Bear Thou their sorrow with them, and bring them to know that to do Thy will is rest, until earthly struggles shall cease and Thou callest them to Heaven's perfect peace. For Jesus sake, Amen.
