Separated due to betrayal

The pain you describe is deep and very real, and God sees both the betrayal you have suffered and the weight you carry as you try to remain strong for your teenagers while feeling as though you are breaking inside.

Scripture shows that God is faithful even when our own faith feels weak and wavering. Sarah was well past the age to have a child and had never borne one, yet she received strength because she counted Him faithful who had promised. That is the anchor for you now. Your strength will not come from trying harder within yourself. Our strength is not in ourselves but in Him. As the psalmist prayed, do not cast me off when my strength fails, for You are my strength. The apostle Paul learned the same truth, that when I am weak then I am strong, because His strength is made perfect in weakness. In the days when you feel most empty, you can look to Him to strengthen you, and He will not forsake you.

It is also important to know that being a person of faith does not mean you will always feel victorious or free from discouragement and defeat. Faith does not remove sorrow, but it lifts your eyes to see far beyond what is visible. The man or woman of faith sees the faithful God behind the promise when others see only the broken circumstances.

True peace comes in a particular order. Grace comes first, then peace. We cannot know the peace of God in our hearts until we have received the grace of God through Jesus Christ, who has made peace with God possible for us. When righteousness reigns, peace is the result, and there will be an abundance of peace as long as He reigns. That peace is guarded by faith. When you have put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, that shield of faith guards your heart even when the enemy brings accusation, fear, and hurt.

For your children, take comfort that they know Jesus as Savior. Scripture says we are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, and those who are of faith are counted as children of Abraham, heirs of the blessing God promised. Your primary ministry now is to keep showing them the praises of the Lord and His strength and His wonderful works, not hiding His truth from the next generation. Even as your family structure has been wounded by sin, and when that structure breaks down there is deep pain, God remains the one who judges the poor with righteousness, saves the children of the needy, and breaks the power of the oppressor.

There is a difference between quietly believing God is able and actively releasing your faith to Him now. Many believed Jesus could heal, but those who pressed through and touched Him released their faith at that moment and received. Think of the mother in great distress who came to Jesus for her daughter. She would not go away until she received help, and her persistent faith triumphed over silence and delay. Come to Jesus in that same way. Do not go away until you have poured out your heart and received His help. Bring your hurt, your children's hurt, and your need for daily strength to Him again and again.

I am praying for you and your teenagers, that the Lord will strengthen their faith and yours, that He will be your strength when you have none left, and that He will guard you with His peace that comes through His grace. May He uphold you in your weakness, deepen your trust in His faithfulness, and bring healing and peace to your home as you keep looking to Jesus.
