Senior husband imprisoned in ### desert

We join you in lifting up your beloved husband before the throne of grace and we have heard the weight of these ### days of separation after ### cherished years of marriage. We thank God for the lifelong covenant you have honored together as husband and wife, for marriage is a holy commitment before the Lord, and we grieve with you over this injustice and the extortion and imprisonment he is enduring in his seventies while seeking honest work far from home.

We are reminded that our God sees the oppressed and hears the cry of the prisoner. Psalm 146:7 says who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. Yahweh frees the prisoners. And Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Though he is held in a desert prison, he is not forgotten by God, and you are not forgotten in your waiting and weeping. Hebrews 13:3 tells us to remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them, and we take that to heart as we remember him with you.

We also notice your request does not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share why we pray in His name alone. It is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is because of Jesus shedding His blood for our sins and rising again that we can boldly bring your husband and your marriage before God and know He hears us. We encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior if you have not already, and to call upon His name continually in this trial.

We pray together for your husband and for you.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and lift up this dear husband, a gentle and beloved man in his seventies, now ### days incarcerated and facing extortion in a foreign desert land. Lord, You see him, You know his name, You know his frailty and his heart, and we ask You to be his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble as Psalm 46:1 says. Protect his body and health, guard him from harm, from despair, from sickness and from the schemes of those who would extort him. Let no weapon formed against him prosper. We ask You to execute justice for the oppressed as Psalm 103:6 says Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed. Expose every corrupt act, move upon the authorities, the judges, the guards and every official who has power over his case, that truth would prevail and that he would be released and restored to his wife. As You opened the prison doors for Paul and Silas when they prayed and sang at midnight in Acts 16:26, we ask You to open doors that no man can shut and to make a way where there seems to be no way.

We pray also for his dear wife who has waited and prayed for ### days. Comfort her broken heart, sustain her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as Philippians 4:7 promises, and give her strength for each day, wise counsel, and faithful advocates to help her. Provide for every legal and practical need, connect her with those who can intervene with integrity, including those in authority who can act on behalf of an American citizen abroad, and let her not grow weary in well doing. Help you both to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 says, and to know that even this suffering can be worked for good as Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

We ask You to bring him home safely to his wife, to restore what has been stolen, and to let this long trial become a testimony of Your deliverance and faithfulness. Keep this marriage strong in love and hope, and let Your will be done. We pray all these things in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pour out your heart to the Lord day and night, to stay in His Word, and to seek every godly and lawful means of help while trusting that God is sovereign over every desert and every prison wall. Keep a record of all that is happening, seek wise and honest counsel and advocacy, and lean on the body of Christ around you for support. We are standing with you and we will continue to remember you both in prayer, asking God to show His mercy, justice and restoring power in the days ahead.

We were moved reading about your husband and the long ### days you have been carrying this burden after ### cherished years together. To love someone so gentle and kind and not be able to reach him, while facing extortion and uncertainty in a desert far from home, is an exhausting and lonely place to be.

We are praying for you both, for his safety and dignity where he is, and for your strength as you wait and advocate for him.

In a long detention the isolation can feel heavy for both of you. It helps not to carry it alone. If you have not already, we encourage you to stay in close contact with the U.S. State Department consular services for Americans detained abroad and to have one trusted pastor or family advocate walk with you day by day, helping keep records of calls and contacts and checking in on you.

Please also let your own church family know what you need, whether it is company, prayer, or practical help, and keep your pastor updated so support can continue over the coming weeks.

Father, we lift this dear husband to You and ask for Your protection over him, for wisdom for those who can help secure his release, and for peace and stamina for his wife as she waits. Give her clear next steps and faithful people around her. In Jesus' name, amen.

Am so humbled by your prayer May God look into my ###'s good heart and protect him and bring him home. Praise God Almighty in Jesus holy name. Thank you. Amen
Thank you

Your heavy burden has been brought before the Lord and before His people, and we join our prayers with yours for your cherished husband in his seventieth year, now ### days held in that desert prison.

We sorrow with you over these long months of separation after ### years of faithful covenant love, and over the cruel extortion that has come upon him while he sought only honest work. The Lord knows the place where he is confined, and He knows the number of his days there. Though men may extort and oppress, deliverance is of the Lord, and it must be accomplished by His own hand. He brought forth His people Israel with silver and gold, and He still brings forth His own from every pit when the hour of mercy strikes in heaven.

Do not think that God's ear is shut or that His arm will not move to work deliverance. He has not forgotten His own. He was a Husband unto His people when He found them in a desert land, in a howling wilderness, and He communed with them and provided for them and delivered them from every enemy. So He will be to you. He is near to you who put your trust in Him, and they that know His name will find Him a very present help.

We pray that the Lord will keep your husband in safety, that He will guard his body and mind in that harsh place, that He will make bare His arm to bring justice against extortion and to open the prison doors. We ask that the Lord in His providence would move upon those who have authority, that righteousness might be done and that he might be restored to you. We pray that Christ, who has found a ransom and has delivered us from the greater pit, would be his comfort and strength hour by hour, that he may drink of Siloah's brook that flows hard by the oracle of God and be refreshed to endure.

For you, we ask for sustaining grace, for patience in this toil and trouble, and for a sweet assurance in your heart that you shall not be crushed. The Lord chastens sorely, but He does not give over unto death. May He whisper to your heart that you shall yet live and declare the works of the Lord, and that this present affliction shall give you a song of deliverance to sing when He brings him forth.

We will continue to remember you both before the throne, trusting that He who is faithful will in His own time and way make your deliverance effectual. May the God of all comfort keep you in perfect peace till joy comes in the morning.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
