Selling My Mother’s House

We join you in bringing this important decision before the Lord, and we appreciate your humble heart in wanting to do what is in your best interest according to His will and not merely your own. The selling of a family home, especially your mother's house, carries not only financial and practical considerations but also deep emotional and stewardship responsibilities, and we want to lift all of this up with you.

We are encouraged that you desire God's guidance in the timing and the process. Scripture assures us that He cares about the details of our lives and wants to give us wisdom when we ask. James 1:5 says If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. And Psalm 32:8 gives us comfort where the Lord says I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. We can trust that as you seek Him, He will make clear whether this is the right time to begin, how to proceed, and what doors to open or close. Jeremiah 29:11 also reminds us For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we lift up this dear one and their family as they consider selling their mother's house. Lord, we ask for Your clear wisdom and discernment in this matter. Show them if it is Your will to begin this process in the near future, and if so, guide every step, the timing, the preparations, the buyers, and the finances. If it is not yet Your time or not in their best interest, give them peace to wait and contentment to trust Your provision. We pray for Your peace to guard their hearts as Philippians 4:6-7 teaches, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Provide for all their needs according to Your riches and help them to be good stewards of what You have entrusted to them. May this decision honor You and honor their mother, and may Your will be done above all. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We want to gently encourage you, as we noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to share how precious it is that we have access to the Father only through Him. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are saved and can confidently bring our prayers to God. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Him as Lord and Savior, and to bring every request to the Father in His name.

We encourage you to continue to seek godly counsel, to pray together as a family, and to wait on the Lord's perfect timing. He is faithful to direct your steps and to provide for you in every season.

We understand how heavy this decision feels. A mother's house holds years of memories, and choosing when to sell touches both the heart and the practical realities of caring for family and finances. Wanting to move forward only if it is truly best, and asking God to lead the timing, is a wise and caring posture.

We are praying with you for clear guidance and settled peace as you consider what is next. It can help to bring the decision into the light in a couple of steady ways. You might sit down and list what selling in the near future would mean and what waiting would mean, the costs, upkeep, care needs, family considerations, and hopes for the future, then bring that list before the Lord and talk it through with one or two trusted voices who know your situation well, perhaps family who share in the decision and a local real estate professional who can give a realistic picture of timing and market without pressure to act.

We also pray you have space to remember and grieve as you discern, not just to decide.

Father, we lift this family and this home to You in Jesus name. Give wisdom to see what is best, unity in conversations about it, and peace about the timing. Lead each step and guard their hearts as they trust You. Amen.

Please pray that we will begin the process of selling my mother’s house in the near future if that would be in our best interest

🙌Father, thank You for loving us so much You gave Your Son so we wouldn't perish but have everlasting life by believing in Him, Jn 3:16. Thank You that You who spared not Your Only Son, but delivered Him up for us all, will freely give us all things with Him, Rom 8:32. We ask for James 1:5 wisdom. Thank You in advance, Mk 11:24, Heb 11:6, in Jesus' Name, Jn 14:13-14, Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.🙏

It is a right and wise thing to lay even this temporal matter before the Lord, for nothing is too small to bring to His throne, and nothing so great that His providence does not govern it. You ask that if it be for your best interest you may soon begin the process of selling your mother's house, and you add with a proper submission, if it would be in your best interest. In that little word if there is much grace.

We are taught in Scripture not to say as those of old did, We will go to such a city and buy and sell and get gain, but rather, If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so His will must be the guide of our buying and selling, our going and staying. There is a revealed will of God which we must not violate, and there is a providential will which we should always consult, as He opens and shuts doors by circumstances, by peace in the heart, and by the counsel of those who fear Him.

We will pray with you and for you to this end, that the Lord who is mighty in the midst of His people would make His way plain before you. We will ask that He would grant you wisdom to discern His timing, that He would overrule all things for your good and His glory, and that He would not suffer you to be hasty nor to linger when He would have you move. If it be His will to sell, may He prepare a buyer, establish a just price, and keep you from anxiety. If it be His will to wait, may He give you contentment and provision in the waiting, and make it clear that to stay is best.

May the Lord bring you to His feet in whole hearted consecration, so that you can truly say, We will not buy and we will not sell unless we can glorify God thereby, and our best profit will be to do His will. He who has promised that no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly knows what is good far better than we do, and His goodness and His sovereignty are one. Trust Him to make all His goodness pass before you in this matter, and to do that which is most for your peace and His honor.

Be assured you are remembered before the Lord in prayer, that He would direct your steps, give counsel to all concerned, and let His perfect will be done in its season.
