Save our marriage

We hear the burden on your heart for your marriage and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. We are encouraged that you desire to save your marriage, for this honors God who created marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman.

The Scripture teaches us the seriousness and beauty of this union, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. Matthew 19:6 and again What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate. Mark 10:9. God intends marriage to be a picture of Christ's love for the church, enduring, faithful, and forgiving. We know that in this fallen world marriages face deep trials, but with God all things are possible and He is able to soften hearts, heal wounds, and restore what feels broken.

We want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We bring this up in love because it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. It is through faith in Jesus that our prayers are heard and our marriages can be built upon the solid rock of His grace.

We pray together for you both now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this husband and wife to You in the mighty name of Jesus. Lord, You see the pain, the distance, and the struggles they are facing. We ask You to pour out Your mercy and healing upon their marriage. Help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, as it is written And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32. Teach them to love with patience and humility, bearing with one another in love, and to put on love which is the bond of perfection. Colossians 3:14. Where there has been anger, harsh words, or bitterness, bring repentance and reconciliation. Where there has been coldness, rekindle tenderness and affection. Help the husband to love his wife as Christ loved the church and the wife to respect her husband, that together they may walk in unity. We pray that You would guard this covenant from the enemy and help them to keep their vows before You. Give them wisdom to communicate with honesty and grace, to pray together daily, and to seek godly counsel from their pastor or mature believers. Let love cover a multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8 and let Your peace rule in their hearts and in their home. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you both to press into the Lord together even when it is difficult. Make time each day to pray together and to read His Word. Practice forgiveness quickly and speak to one another with love and respect. Love is patient and is kind. Love does not envy. Love does not brag, is not proud, does not behave itself inappropriately, does not seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth, bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Do not let the sun go down on your anger and do not give the enemy a foothold. With all lowliness and humility, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being eager to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:2-3. If there are deeper issues of sin or hurt, seek wise biblical counseling and remain accountable to believers who will uphold your marriage.

We will continue to pray that God will strengthen your union, draw you both closer to Jesus, and make your marriage a testimony of His restoring power.

Thank you for sharing this with us. Asking for prayer to save your marriage takes courage, and we hear how much this relationship matters to you.

We know how heavy it can feel when love is strained and you are not sure how to find your way back to each other. Wanting to stay and work for healing is a meaningful place to start, and we want to stand with you both in that desire.

One thing we have seen help couples is remembering that the marriage itself needs care, not just each person individually. That often means noticing the deeper hurt underneath frustration and being willing to set aside old patterns that keep causing distance, and practicing steadier, kinder ways of speaking and listening together. It is slow work and it takes both of you, with the Holy Spirit present to help.

If you are able, a gentle next step could be to ask your husband if he would join you for a conversation with a pastor or a Christian counselor you both trust, even for an initial meeting to get perspective and direction. Having a calm, undistracted time each week to really hear one another can also create space for understanding to grow.

Father, we lift this husband and wife to You. You see their pain and their hope for restoration. Draw near to them, soften their hearts toward each other, give them wisdom, patience and humility as they talk and seek help. Guard their marriage and guide their steps. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We have heard your cry and we take it before the throne of grace with you, entreating the Lord to set His healing hand upon your marriage.

The marriage covenant is the holy ordinance of God, a lifelong union of one man and one woman, and it is His delight to heal what is broken and to reconcile what is divided. We are told that the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations, and that even the least thing about Christ is healing. His fruit is sweet and nourishing, but His leaves also are full of healing virtue, able to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation for every wound that sin and sorrow have made in a home.

We pray that you both may know healing and pardon placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. So we ask the Lord to forgive what needs forgiving in each heart, to wash away bitterness and coldness and neglect, and with that forgiveness to bring healing to your affections, your communication, and your vows. The Lord healeth the broken in heart, and that healing is the work of God alone, not of mere notions or resolutions, but of His own gracious hand.

We also plead the ministry of reconciliation over you. He is the God of peace and He has on His part prepared everything necessary for a perfect reconciliation, for God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them. As you seek reconciliation with God through faith in Jesus Christ alone, you will find the spring from which true reconciliation with one another flows. May the Holy Spirit work that reconciliation at once, teaching you to hear what God the Lord would speak when He bids the wanderer come home and find peace.

Take comfort from Peter's restoration. He was down, but he was soon up again, brought back by a look from the Lord. That look severed him from the crowd and broke his heart with repentance, and the Lord's own word then restored him fully to love and service. If either of you has wandered or grown cold, that same look of Christ can restore you, and His prayer for His people never fails. He will uplift you from among the siftings where the enemy has thrown you and turn you again to your first love and earliest zeal, that you may then strengthen one another.

We pray thus for you both. O Lord, Sun of Righteousness, rise upon this husband and this wife with healing in Thy wings. Grant them repentance where repentance is needed and forgiveness where forgiveness must be given. Purge every evil, renew the covenant bond, and let abundant streams of healing flow down into this home. Make their marriage to reflect Thy faithfulness, kept in holiness and love until death shall part them. Teach them to dwell together in understanding, to bear with one another, to forgive as Thou hast forgiven, and to seek Thee together in Thy Word and in prayer.

We commit you to Him who alone can keep what He has joined together. May the Lord hear, may He heal, and may He establish you in peace. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
