We join you in lifting up this urgent burden before the throne of grace and we agree together for God's mercy, wisdom and protecting hand over all those in authority, all who serve, and all civilians who are in harm's way.
We are reminded of the call in 1 Tim 2:1-4 where we are exhorted first of all that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth. We take this to heart as we pray for military leaders, troops, commanders, and civilian leaders, that God would guide their decisions and restrain evil. We hold fast to the promise in Prov 21:1 that the king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses, he turns it wherever he desires, and in Rom 13:1 that there is no authority except from God. We ask for wisdom beyond human understanding, for as James 1:5 says, if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus, we ask for Your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask You to grant wisdom, clarity, courage and skill to every leader and every service member who may be called upon, that they would act with restraint, discernment and honor. We ask You to place Your angels in charge over them, for You have promised in Psa 91:11 that You will put Your angels in charge of us, to guard us in all our ways, and that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psa 91:1. We ask for Your protection over our troops, that there would be no loss of life, and we cry out for the protection and salvation of civilians, that harm would be kept far from the innocent and that if action must be taken it would be limited only to military targets and not to the people You love. We pray for the salvation of leaders, troops and civilians alike, for You desire all people to be saved, and we ask that even in tense and uncertain moments many would call upon the name of Jesus and be saved, for there is no other name by which we can be saved. We pray for courage and steadiness, remembering Your word in Josh 1:9, haven't I commanded you, be strong and courageous, don't be afraid, don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go, and in Isa 41:10, don't you be afraid, for I am with you, don't be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
We thank you for ending your request in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father, as Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me. We encourage you to continue to watch and pray, to not give in to fear when you see great activity in the skies or hear troubling reports, but to trust that God is sovereign and that He is our refuge and strength. We will keep standing with you, asking for God's perfect will, His mercy over all lives, and His peace that surpasses understanding to guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and we thank Him in advance for His protection, His wisdom and His saving grace. Amen.
