We stand with you in deep intercession for your dear friend, her children, and her marriage, lifting every burden before the throne of grace. The pain of betrayal cuts deep, and the weight of such brokenness can feel unbearable. Yet we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare His healing over her heart, His peace in the midst of this storm, and His wisdom to guide her steps.
First, we must address the foundational need for salvation in both their lives. There is no true healing, restoration, or lasting peace outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us, "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved’" (Romans 10:12-13). We pray fervently that your friend and her husband would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that they can experience the fullness of redemption—both spiritually and in their marriage.
The sin of infidelity is a grievous violation of the marriage covenant, which God designed to reflect the sacred union between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:31-32). Adultery is a sin that wounds deeply, and Scripture is clear that it is grounds for divorce (Matthew 19:9). However, we also know that God is a God of restoration and mercy. We pray that her husband would be convicted of his sin, repent wholeheartedly, and seek forgiveness—not just from his wife, but from the Lord. True repentance involves turning away from sin, taking full accountability, and making amends with humility. We rebuke the spirit of deflection and pride in his life, and we pray that he would be broken over the pain he has caused.
For your friend, we pray for strength to stand firm in her faith, even as she wrestles with the possibility of divorce. We encourage her to seek godly counsel, surround herself with believers who can speak truth and life into her situation, and immerse herself in Scripture. The Lord is her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that she would experience His comfort in tangible ways and that she would not grow weary in doing what is right, even when the path ahead seems uncertain.
We also lift up her children, who are undoubtedly affected by the turmoil in their home. We pray for their protection, both emotionally and spiritually. May they see the love of Christ through their mother’s example and be drawn to Him in the midst of this trial. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that God will use this season to draw them closer to Himself.
For you, dear sister, we pray for wisdom as you support your friend from afar. The distance may make you feel helpless, but we know that prayer is the most powerful tool you have. We encourage you to point her to Jesus, to remind her of His promises, and to speak life into her situation. Proverbs 16:24 tells us, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." Your words of encouragement, rooted in Scripture, can be a balm to her soul. We also pray that the Lord would provide local believers in her life who can walk alongside her in this season.
Let us now come before the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister’s friend, her children, and her marriage. Lord, we ask that You would draw them all to Yourself. Soften their hearts to receive the gospel, and let them experience the saving power of Jesus Christ. We pray for Your healing to flow over this broken marriage, that repentance and forgiveness would take root, and that restoration would be possible if it is Your will.
Father, we ask that You would comfort our sister’s friend in her pain. Surround her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and fill her with hope as she trusts in You. Give her strength to stand firm in her faith and wisdom to navigate this difficult season. We pray for her husband, that he would be convicted of his sin, turn from his ways, and seek reconciliation with humility and sincerity.
Lord, we also lift up the children in this situation. Protect their hearts and minds, and let them see Your love and faithfulness even in the midst of this storm. Provide godly influences in their lives who can speak truth and life into them.
For our sister who has brought this request before us, we ask for wisdom and discernment as she supports her friend from afar. Give her the right words to say, and let her be a vessel of Your love and encouragement.
We declare that no weapon formed against this family will prosper, and we trust in Your power to bring beauty from ashes. May Your name be glorified in every step of this journey. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
