Salvation and healing a broken heart

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I would really appreciate an army of prayer over my best friend, her children, and her marriage right now. She's dealing with infidelity in her marriage which is, naturally, causing her an immense amount of hurt and despair. Her husband is currently refusing to take accountability and keeps deflecting and refusing to take accountability. She is devastated right now, she tells me if he continues, she will seek divorce but obviously does not want to if at all possible. Neither of them are saved either. My best friend went to church some in childhood but fell away and told me she experienced some church-hurt, though she's never shared what that was exactly. He was raised Catholic but doesn't practice so I don't believe him to be saved either. I pray ultimately that he will realize the disrespect he's shown her and pain he's caused and that somewhere in this mess, they can find meaningful repair in their relationship and especially that both of them may be pulled back to Jesus. I don't know what that would look like but I know that if ever my friend has needed support and comfort from Him, it's now. My heart is breaking for her. My best friend and I also live on separate sides of the country, with over 2,000 miles between us, so while I want to support her, I feel a bit helpless. Please pray for my wisdom too in trying to be there for her through this hard time. Thank you!

We stand with you in deep intercession for your dear friend, her children, and her marriage, lifting every burden before the throne of grace. The pain of betrayal cuts deep, and the weight of such brokenness can feel unbearable. Yet we know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare His healing over her heart, His peace in the midst of this storm, and His wisdom to guide her steps.

First, we must address the foundational need for salvation in both their lives. There is no true healing, restoration, or lasting peace outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us, "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich to all who call on him. For, ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved’" (Romans 10:12-13). We pray fervently that your friend and her husband would come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that they can experience the fullness of redemption—both spiritually and in their marriage.

The sin of infidelity is a grievous violation of the marriage covenant, which God designed to reflect the sacred union between Christ and His Church (Ephesians 5:31-32). Adultery is a sin that wounds deeply, and Scripture is clear that it is grounds for divorce (Matthew 19:9). However, we also know that God is a God of restoration and mercy. We pray that her husband would be convicted of his sin, repent wholeheartedly, and seek forgiveness—not just from his wife, but from the Lord. True repentance involves turning away from sin, taking full accountability, and making amends with humility. We rebuke the spirit of deflection and pride in his life, and we pray that he would be broken over the pain he has caused.

For your friend, we pray for strength to stand firm in her faith, even as she wrestles with the possibility of divorce. We encourage her to seek godly counsel, surround herself with believers who can speak truth and life into her situation, and immerse herself in Scripture. The Lord is her refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray that she would experience His comfort in tangible ways and that she would not grow weary in doing what is right, even when the path ahead seems uncertain.

We also lift up her children, who are undoubtedly affected by the turmoil in their home. We pray for their protection, both emotionally and spiritually. May they see the love of Christ through their mother’s example and be drawn to Him in the midst of this trial. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that God will use this season to draw them closer to Himself.

For you, dear sister, we pray for wisdom as you support your friend from afar. The distance may make you feel helpless, but we know that prayer is the most powerful tool you have. We encourage you to point her to Jesus, to remind her of His promises, and to speak life into her situation. Proverbs 16:24 tells us, "Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." Your words of encouragement, rooted in Scripture, can be a balm to her soul. We also pray that the Lord would provide local believers in her life who can walk alongside her in this season.

Let us now come before the Lord in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our sister’s friend, her children, and her marriage. Lord, we ask that You would draw them all to Yourself. Soften their hearts to receive the gospel, and let them experience the saving power of Jesus Christ. We pray for Your healing to flow over this broken marriage, that repentance and forgiveness would take root, and that restoration would be possible if it is Your will.

Father, we ask that You would comfort our sister’s friend in her pain. Surround her with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and fill her with hope as she trusts in You. Give her strength to stand firm in her faith and wisdom to navigate this difficult season. We pray for her husband, that he would be convicted of his sin, turn from his ways, and seek reconciliation with humility and sincerity.

Lord, we also lift up the children in this situation. Protect their hearts and minds, and let them see Your love and faithfulness even in the midst of this storm. Provide godly influences in their lives who can speak truth and life into them.

For our sister who has brought this request before us, we ask for wisdom and discernment as she supports her friend from afar. Give her the right words to say, and let her be a vessel of Your love and encouragement.

We declare that no weapon formed against this family will prosper, and we trust in Your power to bring beauty from ashes. May Your name be glorified in every step of this journey. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

Oh, dear friend, we're here with you, holding your heart close to ours. We see the pain in your friend's eyes, the hurt that's making her heart feel like it's breaking into a million pieces. We're lifting her up, along with her children and her marriage, before the throne of grace. We're asking Jesus to be near, to comfort, to heal, to restore.

We're believing for a miracle, for hearts to turn towards Him. We're praying that your friend's husband would see the error of his ways, take accountability, and seek forgiveness. We're asking God to give your friend strength, wisdom, and peace as she navigates this storm.

We're also praying for you, dear one. We know the distance feels vast, but your prayers are powerful. We're asking God to give you the right words to speak into her life, to be a source of comfort and encouragement. We're believing that God will use this situation to draw them all closer to Him.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

“The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.””

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We are so grateful you entrusted us with this heavy and holy burden—your best friend, her children, and her marriage are now wrapped in our daily prayers. We have asked the Lord to move in ways only He can: to soften her husband’s heart toward repentance, to shield her children from the storm, and to let her feel the nearness of Christ even when the world feels far away. We have also prayed that any old wounds from church-hurt would be healed by the Great Physician, so she can encounter Him afresh without the shadows of past pain.

Above all, we have pleaded that both she and her husband would be drawn to salvation, that the same Savior who wept over Jerusalem would weep over their brokenness and lead them home. We have asked for wisdom for you too—wisdom to speak, wisdom to listen, and wisdom to trust that God is working across those ### miles, even when you can’t see it.

If the Lord has already begun to answer, won’t you share a praise report so we can rejoice with you? If the battle still rages, please post this request again and let us keep standing in the gap until every promise is fulfilled. We continue to lift this family before the throne, believing that what was meant for harm, God can turn for good. In Jesus’ Name.
