Good morning, ###'s numbness (paresthesia) is not improving, she is very depressed, she cries and says she doesn't want to live like this. I beg you to intercede so that God may work a miracle on her and she can improve enough to be able to cope, care for her little children, and have a dignified life. 😪 🙏🙏🙏

We hear your heartbreaking cry for help and lift up in fervent prayer before the throne of grace. The numbness she endures, both physically and in her spirit, grieves us deeply. We stand with you in this trial, believing that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).

First, we must address the despair that has taken root in her heart. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but Jesus came that she might have life, and have it abundantly. We rebuke the spirit of hopelessness that whispers lies of worthlessness and despair. The Word declares that God has plans for her, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give her a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We command her mind to be renewed by the truth of God’s love and purpose for her life.

We pray for her physical healing, believing that by the stripes of Jesus, she was healed (Isaiah 53:5). Lord, we ask You to touch her body, restore sensation where there is numbness, and strengthen her in every way. You are the Great Physician, and nothing is too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:17). We declare that her health will be restored so she can care for her little ones with joy and strength.

For her emotional healing, we ask You, Father, to pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Comfort her in her sorrow, lift her from the pit of depression, and fill her with hope. Remind her that she is not alone, You are her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray she would cast all her anxieties on You, for You care for her (1 Peter 5:7).

We also lift up her children, Lord. Guard their hearts and minds, and provide for their needs. Surround them with godly influences who can support and encourage them. May they see Your faithfulness even in this trial and grow in faith as a result.

We encourage to draw near to God, for He will draw near to her (James 4:8). Let her meditate on Your promises, spend time in Your presence, and surround herself with believers who can pray with her and uplift her. Remind her that her worth is found in You alone, not in her circumstances.

Finally, we declare that this is not the end of her story. God is working all things together for her good (Romans 8:28), and we trust Him to bring beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3). We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, for there is no other name by which we can be saved or healed (Acts 4:12).

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, but also with faith that You are able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). We ask for a miracle in ’s life, physical, emotional, and spiritual restoration. Strengthen her faith, renew her hope, and fill her with Your peace. May she rise above this trial, not in her own strength, but in the power of Your Holy Spirit. We trust You, Lord, and we thank You for Your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

When chronic numbness hangs on and hopelessness closes in, it’s common for someone to feel they can’t keep going. That doesn’t mean she lacks faith, it means she needs both God’s comfort and human help. Depression can cloud the mind so thoroughly that even the love of her little children feels distant. Please encourage her to talk openly with her doctor, not only about the numbness but about these dark thoughts. There is no shame in that; getting the right medical and psychological support can be a lifeline. In the meantime, your steady presence and your willingness to simply be with her, without needing to fix everything, is a powerful gift.

We also want to gently remind you to take care of your own heart as you support her. You are carrying a great burden, and it is not a lack of trust to need rest and encouragement yourself.

Let’s pray.

Lord Jesus, You see ###’s tears, her fear, and her exhaustion. In Your mercy, quiet her mind and give her moments of relief. Please guide the doctors, counselors, and all who can help her toward real improvement. Strengthen her body, and hold her family close. And for our friend writing to us, grant steady hope and the right words when words are needed. We trust her to You, the God who never lets go. Amen.

Deep is the valley of your present sorrow, and the numbness of your flesh is but a shadow of that deeper numbness which has crept over your spirit. The weeping, the cry that life is no longer worth the living, this is the language of a broken heart. There are many forms of broken hearts, some naturally broken by pain and weakness, and some spiritually broken by a sense of desertion. Your bleeding spirit cries for consolation, and I would point you to Him of whom it is written, “He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”

You say within yourself, “Our bones are dried.” That is a true word, for our own strength is altogether dried up, and in ourselves we are as helpless as scattered dust. But you are tempted to add another word which is not true: “Our hope is lost.” That is an evil word, going beyond the truth, for God Himself is your hope, and He is not lost. Though you feel dead and divided, the Lord speaks a gracious word over such dry bones: “Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves.” He is the God of resurrection, and no grave of despair can hold those whom He calls to life.

Do not continue in that weary search for hope where there is no hope. The poor worldling wearies himself in the length of his way, finding nothing but the life of his hand, living from hand to mouth on present comforts, yet never satisfied. But for the child of God, the promise stands fresh every morning: “Fear not, I am with you.” You need no vision of the night; you have the more sure Word of prophecy. Take it, read it, and believe that Christ speaks to you now, just as He did to Paul, “Fear not, I am with you.” When you faint, lean hard upon that arm which never fails.

You are not called to do this in your own strength. Hear the apostle’s boast, and make it your own: “I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.” It is no impudent presumption; it is the humble reliance of a soul made strong by its Master. What you cannot do by natural power, care for your children, rise out of this heavy depression, even desire to live, you shall do through Christ, who pours His power into empty vessels.

Think of the lengths to which divine love will go for the undeserving. I was struck by a story of a woman whose husband abandoned her for forty years, yet when he returned in sickness and poverty, she welcomed him, nursed him, and wore herself out caring for him. Yet that is but a faint picture of God’s love to you. He feeds you, supplies your every need, and waits to be gracious. If you have wandered far, return; He will receive you with joy.

The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. There is a leaf for your paresthesia, a leaf for your broken nerves, a leaf for your weeping heart. In the heavenly Paradise that tree is more accessible than ever was the tree in Eden. By faith, reach out and pluck its healing. And while you wait for the full cure below, know that Christ has consented to be bound that you might be freed. He wore the fetters that you might have liberty. Look to Him, and though your bones are dried, hope in Him, for He will yet make you to know that He is the Lord when He has brought you up out of your grave and established you in the land of the living. Let the prayer of the saints rise for you, and join your own cry to theirs, that He who is mighty might do great things for you, and that your tongue, now so heavy with grief, may soon sing aloud of His goodness.

Let not the heaviness of thy trial drive thee to utter despair, for the enemy of our souls never despairs of our ruin, and we must never surrender the hope of our salvation. The numbness of the body is a sharp affliction, and the weeping of the heart I do not belittle; yet know that the truest miracle is not always the sudden vanishing of disease, but the endurance that shines like a steadfast flame even in the body’s weakness. Many desired miracles and perished through pride or love of ease, but a life given to virtue, patience, and the care of little ones is more pleasing to God than a thousand wonders.

Pray for healing, yes, and we pray with thee, yet cling not only to the relief of the flesh. If the Lord permits this thorn to remain, He yet gives strength to bear it and a dignity no numbness can destroy. The mother who tends her children through pain is a spectacle before angels, a living sacrifice more fragrant than any miracle. Think of Job, who worked no sign in the devil’s sight but shone by his endurance firmer than adamant. The time of Christ’s mighty works was not every hour; even He delayed until John was bound, teaching that faith must grow without constant signs. So now, let not thy faith rest on a miracle alone, but on the mercy of Him who works all for good.

Rouse thyself, then, from this sorrow that says, “I will not live.” That voice is not from God, who wills all to live and to nurture the children He has given. The Lord who turned water into wine and withered the figless tree also holds thy soul in His hand. Think not He is absent because the numbness abides; His power is shown even more when He upholds the suffering without outward marvels. So with the holy Apostle, who rejoiced in bonds because the word was not chained; thy love for thy children is not chained, thy prayer is not chained, thy hope in Christ is not chained.

Take courage, and let not this trial overwhelm. Cast off this despair as a heavy garment, and go forward, not waiting for a sign but clinging to the Lord who is all in all. We shall not cease to entreat the Physician of souls and bodies, but do thou also say, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him,” and thou wilt find thy life indeed dignified and fruitful, though the miracle look different from thy desire.
