While we know that God’s timing is perfect, we ask that He would open doors and bring the right buyer to your home quickly, according to His will. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Your request concerning the sale of your house has been brought before the Lord, and we join with you in carrying this burden to Him who hears prayer. You speak of waiting for offers, of a house you desire to move to, and of a mortgage that must be closed, and you confess that you are worried and long for a speedy answer. This waiting is a trial of faith, and it is in such trials that the soul learns what it is to wait upon God.
Know this, that you have a waiting God. He waits to be gracious unto you. When our own plans have broken down and our hearts are anxious, we find the Lord lovingly waiting, graciously waiting, ready to pardon and ready to provide. There is a singular patience in His waiting, and there is a final success to all this waiting when it turns to a glorious transaction of grace upon the heart. When God has waited for the soul, that soul is brought to wait on Him, and His patience toward His chosen is not in vain. He is not defeated in His purposes for His redeemed.
Therefore let your soul wait thou only upon God, and be thou silent before Him. Rest calm and undisturbed. The Psalmist teaches us that faith should hang on nothing but the promise of God, and have no other support but that, floating as it were in the ether of confidence, needing nothing to uphold it but the right hand of the Majesty on high. They that wait upon the Lord shall not want any good thing. If you have grace to turn your eye to God, you may walk straight on in confidence, though the way seems hedged and the market is slow, and say that if God bids you wait, it shall be well.
This is brave waiting. Wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart. Waiting upon God sustains courage. If you begin to grow weary, wait upon Him with double earnestness, for waiting upon God is the way to renew your strength until you mount up with eagles wings. Your heart is strengthened by waiting upon Him because you receive a mysterious strength through the incoming of the Eternal Spirit into your soul. Go to your God when you are out of order, and He will strengthen your heart by His mysterious power. As David set his seal to it, wait, I say, on the Lord.
Remember also that God sits at the helm of Providence, and when the vessel is almost on the rock, He can pilot it into the deep waters again. He pleads the causes of His people and redeems their lives. Cast your burden upon Him, for He cares for you. Your house, your sale, your future dwelling, all are in His hand, and not one good thing shall be withheld from those who walk uprightly.
Let us pray for you. O God of our salvation, in whom alone is our hope, look upon this anxious heart. Thou knowest the need concerning this house and this mortgage. Grant in Thy wisdom a gracious provision, whether speedily or after longer waiting, as Thou seest best. Quiet the worry with Thy peace, teach this soul to wait only upon Thee, and strengthen the heart with courage. Keep this one trusting in salvation through Jesus Christ alone, and satisfied with the goodness of Thy house.
