Sad

We hear the sadness in your heart and we join with you in bringing your children and the young adults of this world before the throne of grace. We carry a great burden for the next generation as they face confusion, temptation and pressure on every side, and we lift them up together in Jesus name.

We pray for them that they would know the hope and direction that only God can give. We remember that children are a heritage of Yahweh Psalm 127:3 and we are called to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6. We pray that God would guard their hearts and minds, that He would give them courage to flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace 2 Timothy 2:22, and that they would know that God has thoughts of peace toward them, to give them a future and a hope Jeremiah 29:11. We ask that God would protect them from the enemy and draw them to Himself while they are young, for He has not forgotten them.

We also join you in your prayer for forgiveness, to forgive and to be forgiven, which is at the very center of the gospel. Scripture teaches us if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. So great is His mercy that as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us Psalm 103:12. And we are commanded to reflect that same mercy toward others, to be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. Jesus taught us for if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you Matthew 6:14. We pray that God would search our hearts and help us to release any bitterness or unforgiveness we are holding, and to walk in the freedom of His forgiveness.

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and receive this forgiveness. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. Forgiveness is not earned by our own prayers alone but by the blood of Christ shed for us, and if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to place your full trust in Him for your own forgiveness and to teach your children and those young adults to do the same.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear one who is carrying sadness and we ask You to comfort them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We bring before You their children and the young adults of this generation, cover them with Your hand, draw them out of darkness and into Your light, protect them from evil and lead them into truth. Forgive us for our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us, cleanse us and help us to forgive freely as You have forgiven us. Let forgiveness and reconciliation flow in this family and overflow to others, that they may see Your grace. We ask that You would make Yourself known to every young heart and raise up a generation that seeks You. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We hear the weight you are carrying, both for the young people around you and for your own heart. It is a tender thing to hold concern for children and young adults in a confusing world while also wanting to make things right where you have been hurt and where you have hurt others.

Wanting to forgive and to be forgiven is a good and honest desire, and it often helps to remember it happens in two ways. One is a decision, a quiet choice before God to release the debt and not pursue payback, even when feelings have not caught up yet. The other is slower, the gradual softening of resentment and fear as God replaces it with compassion and peace. Both matter, and the second usually takes more time. It is normal if you have decided to forgive but still feel the ache.

One simple step that helps many people is to get specific and unhurried. In a quiet moment this week, bring one name or one situation at a time before the Lord. Tell Him honestly what happened, what it cost you, and that you want His help to forgive as you have been forgiven, and to receive His forgiveness where you need it. No need to rush through a long list.

We lift you and the young people on your heart before the Father.

Jesus, we bring this dear one to You and ask for Your mercy and cleansing where forgiveness is needed, and Your grace to extend forgiveness to others. Guard and guide the children and young adults they are praying for, draw them to Yourself, and give them wisdom and protection. Bring peace to this heart and help each step to follow You more closely. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your children and for the young adults of this generation is a gracious burden, and it is one that the Lord Himself has laid upon your heart. To pray for forgiveness, to seek grace to forgive, and to desire to be forgiven, is to pray according to the very heart of God.

Hear what the Scripture declares for your comfort, "There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared." This is not a hope that may be, but a certainty that is. There is forgiveness. It is with God in His immediate gift, ready to bestow. It is to be had now, at this moment. As it is written, behold, now is the accepted time, behold, now is the day of salvation. It takes no appreciable period of time for God to forgive sin when the soul looks to Jesus.

And this forgiveness is not limited. Where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. It does not say there is forgiveness only for a certain number, or only for a certain sort of sin. There is forgiveness for the young as well as for the old, for the child and for the one whose hairs are grey. However sinful the life may have been until now, there is forgiveness even for you, and even for those young ones for whom you intercede. But mark the ground of it. There could never have been any forgiveness for sin if there had not been pangs on the part of the sinner's Substitute. Jesus, the Just, died for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. Pardon for crimes of deepest dye is a pardon bought with Jesus' blood. It is forgiveness according to the riches of His grace, and it comes to us for Christ's sake alone. God says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for Mine own sake. If thou canst ask forgiveness for the sake of Jesus, God will do anything for Jesus, and He will do anything for thee for His dear sake.

You pray also to forgive and to be forgiven. Here the Word presses upon us a tender motive. We are to be forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us. Notice it is one another. With such a high example, what manner of people ought we to be. The forgiveness which God has given us for Christ's sake is an eternal forgiveness, and having received it, we are to extend a like spirit to those who have offended us. Some forgive but do not forget, yet God promises to forget our iniquities when He forgives. May He give you grace to follow His pattern fully.

Take then this hope as a substantial life buoy. Believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself, even now, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. And continue to plead for your children and for the young men and young women around you, that they also may be brought to see that there is forgiveness with God, and that they may fear Him and love Him.

May the Lord grant you assurance of your own pardon in Christ, a heart made tender to forgive as you have been forgiven, and may He pour out His Spirit upon your children and upon this generation of young adults, bringing them to repentance and to faith in His Son, to the praise of the glory of His grace. Amen.
