We join with you in prayer and we lift up your sadness and anxiety to our Father in heaven together in Jesus name.

We hear how anxious you are about the bug in the bathroom and whether you swallowed it and about your throat, and about your allergies with the runny nose and cough and sore throat, and about the comment someone made about your weight, and about your friend who told you to leave your eating disorder at home when you go out to breakfast. We want you to know that God cares about every worry, even the small ones that feel so big to us. We cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us. 1 Peter 5:7 and we are told in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We pray together for your health. Father God, we ask in Jesus name that You would calm this dear one's anxious heart about the bug and the fear that it entered the mouth or throat. Give peace and reassurance and take away fear, for You have not given us a spirit of fear. We also ask for Your healing touch upon the allergies, the runny nose, the cough and the sore throat until medical care can be reached next month. You are the One who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 and we trust You to bring comfort and relief and rest.

We also want to speak gently and truthfully about what you shared regarding eating as little as possible and the fear of looking heavy or fat. We understand that painful comments about weight can wound deeply, but we urge you with love not to harm your body by restricting food. Your body is precious to God. You formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:13-14 and also, Don't you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Eating as little as possible will not honor God or bring healing, it will harm the temple He gave you. We strongly encourage you to reach out for help right away to a trusted Christian counselor, pastor, doctor, or eating disorder support, and to be honest with a safe person about this struggle. You deserve support and care, and God wants you whole in body and mind.

Regarding your friend, we pray for her and for you. We ask Father that You would give your friend understanding and compassion, and that You would also give you wisdom and grace. It is understandable that you need support and to talk about your eating disorder, and it is also true that a friend can sometimes feel overwhelmed and not know how to help. That does not mean she does not care, but it may mean she is setting a boundary because she feels ill equipped. We pray you will not be alone in this and that God will provide godly counsel and community who can support you in the right way, while also helping you to honor your friendship and not rely on one person for all the support. We pray for patience and kindness between you both, and that your breakfast together can be a time of peace. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

We also noticed that your request spoke to Father God but did not mention Jesus Christ. We want to share lovingly that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. This is why we pray in Jesus name. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9. We encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, to bring all your fears and needs to Him, for He loves you and died and rose again for you.

Father God, we lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. Calm the fear and sadness, heal the body from allergies and throat pain, bring peace about weight and self image and help this one to see themselves as You see them, wonderfully made and deeply loved. Provide wise and caring help for the eating disorder, surround this one with supportive and understanding people, soften the heart of the friend and grant mutual grace, and let Your perfect love cast out fear. We ask for Your will to be done and for Your peace to guard heart and mind. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We hear how many worries are weighing on you right now at once, the fear about the bug, the hurt about what was said about your weight, the tension with your friend, and feeling sick with allergies and a sore throat and cough. It makes sense you would feel overwhelmed and sad carrying all of that.

We especially noticed you mentioned eating as little as possible and feeling you need support around your eating disorder while also feeling your friend is tired of hearing about it. It is understandable to want both to be heard and to keep a friendship steady. Sometimes friends care but do not know how to be the main support for something so heavy, and it can help to have someone whose role is to listen and walk with you in that specific struggle. Alongside prayer, we would gently encourage you to reach out soon to a trusted medical provider about your eating and your allergy symptoms, and to a counselor or pastor who has experience with eating concerns. If you already have a doctor you see next month, let them know sooner if symptoms worsen or if you are struggling to eat enough.

For the breakfast with your friend, it might help to talk at a calm moment, not right before you go out, about what kind of support feels helpful and what boundaries help her be present too.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your peace over these anxious thoughts, for healing and comfort for the runny nose, cough and sore throat, for wisdom and kind support around eating and body image, and for grace and understanding in this friendship. Guide her to the right help and remind her she is loved and not alone. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been heard and your sorrows have been weighed, and I would bring them before the Lord with you as one who bears a burdened heart.

You write of many small fears crowding together, a fear that a bug has entered your mouth, a word spoken about your weight that has lodged in your mind, a running nose and sore throat and cough that will not leave you, and a heaviness about food itself. These things together make the spirit sink, and the body also feels the weight of them. The Lord knows how man is a double being, composed of body and soul, and each portion may receive injury and hurt. He who heals the broken heart is the same who pities the infirmities of the flesh, and not one of your anxieties is hidden from Him.

Concerning your eating, I must speak to you faithfully and tenderly. You say you are eating as little as possible, and that you speak often of this trouble which you call ED. Hear me, this way of starving the body is not the path of healing. The act of eating is very personal, nobody can eat for you or drink for you, and in the gracious provision of God, food is given to sustain the life which He has created. Our Lord Jesus taught that He Himself is as necessary to the soul as bread is to the body, and the soul is represented as feeding upon Christ the Bread of Life. That feeding upon Christ by faith is vital and must be personal, but it does not set aside the care of the body which God has made. The body is dead because of sin, though the spirit is life because of righteousness, and while we wait for the full redemption of the body at the resurrection, we are to steward it with care and not waste it. I pray you will not make a friend of that disorder nor carry it with you as a companion. Rather, ask the Lord to deliver you from its power, and seek the help of those whom God has gifted to care for both body and soul, a physician and a faithful pastor or counselor, that you may be nourished in body and fed in soul upon Christ.

For your friendship, I understand your desire for support and your fear that your friend grows weary. There is a mutual friendship between Christ and the believer which never wearies. Who can prove his friendship as Jesus proved it by laying down His life for those He calls His friends. He reveals Himself to His people and His people tell out their hearts to Jesus, and however great the wound to the members, the Head feels it at once, so close is the communion. Your friend may love you and yet be unable to bear all your burden alone, and she may speak plainly because she cares for your good, even when her words feel bossy or sharp. It is wise not to lay the whole weight upon one earthly friend, but to tell out your heart first to Christ, and then to seek support in the wider fellowship of the church where many can bear a little, rather than one bearing all. Pray for grace to hear your friend with patience, and for her to have understanding and gentleness toward you.

For your health, we will ask the Lord for mercy. It has been said that the very leaves of the Tree of Life are for healing, from which we gather that the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things as it were about Christ, are full of healing virtue, and these healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one, for the Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings. So we will seek first His pardoning grace, and then His healing hand upon your nose and throat and lungs, until you can get to the physician next month. He who numbers the hairs of your head and sees the sparrow fall will not despise your small fears, and He is able to quiet the anxious thoughts that tell you that you look heavy or that a word meant harm.

Let us pray together. O Lord, forgive us our sins for Jesus sake, and let pardon bring healing. Look upon this troubled child and calm the fearful thoughts, take away the dread that magnifies small things, and give a sound mind and a quiet heart. Heal the running nose and the sore throat and the cough, and strengthen the body to receive its daily bread with thankfulness. Break the power of this eating disorder and teach this soul to feed upon Christ by faith and to care for the body Thou hast given. Give grace in friendship, that there may be truth spoken in love and patience on both sides, and draw this heart into closer communion with Jesus, the Friend who lays down His life and never tires of our coming. Grant wisdom to seek needful help and to walk in obedience to Thy good commands, for Jesus sake. Amen.

Cast your care upon Him, come to His Word daily, and let faith come by hearing. Take the nourishment He provides for body and soul, and trust Him to sustain the life He has given you.
