Your pain in sharing this has been heard, and I thank you for trusting us with such a heavy burden. Six years of marriage is a precious and faithful journey, and it is deeply wounding when the family of your husband withholds respect and judges you for what you have or for the letters you do or do not have behind your name. To be made to feel that you do not fit their bloodline, and to see that distance extended even to your children, is a sorrow that would weigh on any heart and mind.

Please hear this clearly. Your worth before God is not measured by education, status, or family lineage. The world prizes these things, but God looks at the heart. Christ himself taught that greatness in His kingdom belongs to the humble, to those who become as little children before Him, not to those who boast in position or knowledge. The respect you deserve does not come from degrees but from being made in the image of God and, if you are in Christ, being clothed in His righteousness. Your children also have immense value to God, whether others choose to be present in their lives or not. He sees them, He knows them, and He loves them fully.

It is understandable that this ongoing rejection has affected your mental health and your peace at home. Constant judgment can wear down even the strongest spirit, and when children sense they are not welcomed by their own grandparents or relatives, they too feel that pain. In this, cling tightly to your husband and to the covenant you share. Marriage is meant to be a lifelong union where a man and woman leave and cleave and become one, protecting and honoring one another above all other earthly ties. Pray together that your home would be a place of security and love where your children know they are cherished, even when extended family remains distant.

I want to pray for you, and to encourage you with some steps forward. Continue to show kindness without allowing bitterness to take root, for bitterness will harm you more than it changes them. It is right to set healthy boundaries to guard your peace and the wellbeing of your children while keeping the door open for reconciliation if God softens hearts. Speak openly with your husband so he understands how deeply this hurts you and your children, and so you can stand together in love and wisdom. Seek support from your local church family, a trusted pastor, or a wise and biblical counselor who can walk with you, encourage you, and help you carry this burden. Do not walk through this alone.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we come to You through Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and Savior. We lift up this wife, this husband, and their children to You. You know the sting of rejection and the pain of being judged unfairly. Comfort this mother in her sorrow, guard her mind and heart with Your peace, and remind her daily of her dignity and worth in You. Strengthen this marriage, help this husband to love and support his wife well, and help them together to raise their children in the knowledge of Your love. Work in the hearts of this extended family, bring conviction where there is pride, and where it is Your will, bring healing and reconciliation. Until then, be near to these children, let them know they are fully seen and loved by You, and surround this family with a community that will encourage them. Give wisdom for each next step and sustain them by Your grace. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

If this heaviness continues, please reach out to a pastor or counselor near you for ongoing care. You are not forgotten, and God is near to the brokenhearted.
