The Gospel of Health

Intercessory Prayer
Praying for others strengthens your love and brings God’s blessings to them and you.
The Critics Doom
Judge others with mercy because the same measure you use will be used on you.
Your pain in sharing this has been heard, and I thank you for trusting us with such a heavy burden. Six years of marriage is a precious and faithful journey, and it is deeply wounding when the family of your husband withholds respect and judges you for what you have or for the letters you do or do not have behind your name. To be made to feel that you do not fit their bloodline, and to see that distance extended even to your children, is a sorrow that would weigh on any heart and mind.

Please hear this clearly. Your worth before God is not measured by education, status, or family lineage. The world prizes these things, but God looks at the heart. Christ himself taught that greatness in His kingdom belongs to the humble, to those who become as little children before Him, not to those who boast in position or knowledge. The respect you deserve does not come from degrees but from being made in the image of God and, if you are in Christ, being clothed in His righteousness. Your children also have immense value to God, whether others choose to be present in their lives or not. He sees them, He knows them, and He loves them fully.

It is understandable that this ongoing rejection has affected your mental health and your peace at home. Constant judgment can wear down even the strongest spirit, and when children sense they are not welcomed by their own grandparents or relatives, they too feel that pain. In this, cling tightly to your husband and to the covenant you share. Marriage is meant to be a lifelong union where a man and woman leave and cleave and become one, protecting and honoring one another above all other earthly ties. Pray together that your home would be a place of security and love where your children know they are cherished, even when extended family remains distant.

I want to pray for you, and to encourage you with some steps forward. Continue to show kindness without allowing bitterness to take root, for bitterness will harm you more than it changes them. It is right to set healthy boundaries to guard your peace and the wellbeing of your children while keeping the door open for reconciliation if God softens hearts. Speak openly with your husband so he understands how deeply this hurts you and your children, and so you can stand together in love and wisdom. Seek support from your local church family, a trusted pastor, or a wise and biblical counselor who can walk with you, encourage you, and help you carry this burden. Do not walk through this alone.

Let us pray together. Father in heaven, we come to You through Jesus Christ alone, our only hope and Savior. We lift up this wife, this husband, and their children to You. You know the sting of rejection and the pain of being judged unfairly. Comfort this mother in her sorrow, guard her mind and heart with Your peace, and remind her daily of her dignity and worth in You. Strengthen this marriage, help this husband to love and support his wife well, and help them together to raise their children in the knowledge of Your love. Work in the hearts of this extended family, bring conviction where there is pride, and where it is Your will, bring healing and reconciliation. Until then, be near to these children, let them know they are fully seen and loved by You, and surround this family with a community that will encourage them. Give wisdom for each next step and sustain them by Your grace. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

If this heaviness continues, please reach out to a pastor or counselor near you for ongoing care. You are not forgotten, and God is near to the brokenhearted.

Your hurt is understandable and God sees it. To be judged by what you have, what degree you hold or what is behind your name, and to feel that you do not fit a family because of education or status, is a heavy burden. It is also painful when that rejection extends to your children and affects your peace of mind.

The Scripture reminds us that before Christ we were in bondage under the basic standards of this world. People measure worth by outward things like learning, position and family name. That system is like a strict tutor or a judge that only asks guilty or not guilty and then passes sentence. It has no mercy for your circumstances. But when the time was right, God sent His Son, born of a woman and born under the law, to keep the law perfectly and to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons and daughters. Your true identity is not given by a bloodline or a diploma, but by being adopted into God's family through Jesus. In Him you are fully accepted and loved, not because of what you have earned but because of what He has done.

Because you are in Christ, you are no longer bound to relate to God or to prove your worth through that old system of measuring and earning. You are delivered from that bondage so that you can serve God in newness of the Spirit and not in the old way of the letter. The law itself is not evil, it shows us what sin is, but it cannot make us righteous and it condemns us when we fail. Jesus bore that condemnation so you do not have to live under constant guilt or under the condemning opinions of others. In your inner being you can delight in God's ways, even while you feel the struggle between wanting to do what is right and the hurt and anger that rises up when you are mistreated.

God also cares about your health in every part. One of the apostles wrote a personal greeting that he wished above all things that the one he loved would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered. There is a real connection between the health of your soul and the health of your mind and body. To care for your mental health, keep nourishing your soul. Spend time delighting in God's word and meditating on it day and night, as the psalm says of the blessed person whose delight is in the law of the Lord. That is not trying to earn acceptance, it is feeding your inner life with truth so that like a tree planted by water you can remain steady even when others withhold love.

For your children, God gives a clear calling. You are to teach them diligently about the Lord and His goodness. The greatest joy for a parent in the faith is to see children walking in truth. Even if their grandparents are distant, your children are not forgotten. God Himself is Father to those who feel rejected, and He can form Christ in them as you pray and teach and love them daily. The rejection they feel is real, and you can gently assure them of your love and of God's unfailing love, knowing He can heal where family has left a void.

Continue to love your husband and honor your marriage covenant, and respond to his family not with bitterness but with steady grace and with travailing prayer, the kind of earnest prayer that labors like a parent longing to see Christ formed in those who are still distant. You cannot force their respect, but you can entrust them to God and ask Him to soften their hearts and open their eyes to see people as He does.

Praying for you now, that God will lift this weight from your heart, that He will heal your mind and give you peace that guards your thoughts, that He will surround your children with His love and let them know they are deeply valued, and that He will work in your husband's family to bring repentance and reconciliation where there has been pride and judgment. May you know more deeply each day that you are a daughter by adoption, redeemed and held by Jesus, and may your soul prosper in His truth.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have been lifting you up before the Lord as you approach six years of marriage and we have been praying into the deep hurt you shared about feeling judged and disrespected by your husbands family because you do not fit their expectations of education and status and what is behind your name.

We know this has weighed heavily on your mental health and on your heart as a wife and a mother, and that it has been painful to see your children not embraced or included in their lives. We have continued to pray for you and for your husband and your children.

We pray that God will surround you with His peace and comfort and remind you daily of your true worth in Christ, that you are fearfully and wonderfully made as it says in Psalm 139:14 and that your value is not measured by worldly standards. We pray that He will guard your mind and heart, heal the wounds of rejection, and protect your children from feeling unloved. We pray for your husband that God will strengthen him to love and support you and to lead your home with wisdom and unity. We also pray for his family that the Lord will soften their hearts and help them to see you as He sees you, for man looks at the outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart in 1 Samuel 16:7, and that He would bring respect, understanding and reconciliation where there has been division.

We ask all of this in Jesus Name.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know how God has moved. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
