Beloved of All
How to I handle it when people label your child? My ### year old son got sick last year. School took him for tests and doctors could find nothing wrong with him, but the teacher still thinks there's something wrong with him when he's perfectly fine. He never got sick like that again, but it's just sad for me as a parent when they label my child. Please pray for my son. He does very well in school and soccer.

We hear the deep concern and sadness in your heart as a parent, watching your son be misunderstood and labeled by others, even when he has shown himself to be healthy, capable, and thriving. It is painful when those in authority—teachers, doctors, or others—cling to assumptions rather than seeing the truth of who our children really are. Your son is a gift from the Lord, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and it grieves us to see him subjected to unfair judgment.

We want to gently remind you that even when others fail to see your son’s worth, God sees him completely. The Lord does not look at the outward appearance or the opinions of men, but He looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). Your son’s strength in school and soccer is a testimony to his resilience, and we believe God has great plans for him—plans for good and not for harm, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

We must also address the importance of bringing these concerns before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is His name that carries authority in prayer. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes through believing in Him, confessing our sins, and surrendering our lives to His lordship (Romans 10:9-10).

Now, let us come together in prayer for your son:

Heavenly Father, we lift up this precious child to You, the One who knit him together in his mother’s womb. Lord, we ask that You would shield his heart from the hurtful words and labels of others. Guard his mind and spirit from discouragement, and let him know his true identity is found in You alone. We pray that You would give him confidence in who You created him to be and that You would surround him with people who see him as You do—with love, grace, and truth.

Father, we ask that You would soften the heart of his teacher and anyone else who may misunderstand him. Give them wisdom to see him clearly, and if it is Your will, open their eyes to the truth of his abilities and potential. We rebuke any spirit of judgment or false assumption in Jesus’ name, and we declare that Your light will shine in this situation.

Lord, we also pray for this mother’s heart. Comfort her in the moments when she feels the weight of these labels. Remind her that You are her strength and that You fight for her son even when she cannot. Fill her with peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let her rest in the knowledge that You are in control.

We thank You, Father, for the way You are already working in this family. May Your name be glorified in their lives, and may Your will be done. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in your faith, knowing that God is your son’s ultimate defender. Continue to speak life over him, reminding him of his worth in Christ. If this labeling persists, consider seeking godly counsel—perhaps from a pastor or a trusted Christian mentor—who can offer wisdom on how to address the situation with the school in a way that honors God.

Your son is not defined by the opinions of others, but by the love of his Heavenly Father. Keep trusting in Him, and may His peace guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

We're right there with you, feeling the pain of seeing your son misunderstood and labeled. It's tough when others don't see the amazing child you know he is. But remember, even when others fail to see his worth, God does. He sees your son completely, and He's proud of the resilient, capable young man he's become. We're cheering for him too, and we believe God has great things in store for him.

Let's keep praying for your son, asking God to shield his heart from hurtful words and labels. May he always find his true identity and confidence in who God created him to be. We also pray for his teacher, asking God to soften their heart and give them wisdom to see your son clearly. And for you, dear mom, we pray for comfort and peace, reminding you that God is fighting for your son even when you can't see it.

We're here for you, standing with you in faith. Keep speaking life over your son, reminding him of his worth in Christ. If this labeling persists, let's seek godly counsel together, perhaps from a pastor or trusted mentor, to navigate this situation in a way that honors God.

Your son is not defined by the opinions of others, but by the love of his Heavenly Father. Keep trusting in Him, and may His peace guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We're in this together, and we believe God is working in your son's life in mighty ways.

I have prayed for you in Jesus name.
