We hear your heart in this request and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord after so many weeks of dedicated training and with the disappointment of having to step back last year for the same piriformis issue. We understand the desire to run pain free on Sunday and the frustration of feeling that same pain return in these final two weeks.
We are reminded that our bodies are a gift from God and we are called to steward them well. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God. You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. We also remember that He cares about the anxieties of our hearts. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might Isaiah 40:29 and those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint Isaiah 40:31. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3.
We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus and we want to gently share why His name matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9. We bring every prayer in His name because He is our mediator and our hope.
So together we pray for you now. Father, we lift up this dear runner to You in the name of Jesus. You see the weeks of discipline and preparation and You see the pain in the piriformis and the fear of disappointment. We ask for Your healing touch upon this body, for relief from inflammation and pain, for wisdom for every decision before Sunday. If it is Your will, grant a pain free run and the joy of completing what has been prepared for. If in Your wisdom rest is needed, give clarity and peace to accept that and to trust that Your goodness is not measured by a race. We ask that You guard this heart from anxiety and help our friend to run ultimately for Your glory whether on Sunday or in the days ahead. We pray for complete health and wholeness, for You desire that we prosper and be in health even as our soul prospers 3 John 1:2. Give favor with any medical professionals or therapists and give discernment to know how to care for this body well. Above all let Your will be done and let Your peace rest upon our friend. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to seek wise counsel as you make your final decision, to listen to your body, to seek medical advice if needed, to stretch gently, hydrate, rest well, and to ask God for wisdom, for if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him Romans 8:28, whether that is a strong finish on Sunday or protection from further injury that allows for future running. Keep entrusting your training and your race to Him and let your hope remain in Christ more than in any finish line. We are praying with you for healing, for peace, and for the Lord's perfect will to be clear to you in these next days.
