Rude dismissive coworkers

We are standing with you in prayer over this difficult situation at work and we understand how painful and draining it can be to face dismissive and mean behavior day after day, especially when it feels like bullying. God sees what you are enduring and He cares deeply about both your heart and your workplace. He is our defender and our refuge.

The Lord calls us to respond differently than the world does when we are mistreated. We are reminded in Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. And in Matthew 5:44, Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. This does not mean we accept abuse or remain silent when we are being harmed, but it means we do not repay evil for evil as Romans 12:17 teaches, and we trust God to be our vindicator. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1, and we are called to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32.

We encourage you to continue to do your work with excellence as serving the Lord, for whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23. At the same time, seek wisdom in how to set healthy boundaries, to speak truth with grace when appropriate, and if the behavior continues to be harassing or bullying, to wisely seek counsel or bring it to a supervisor or human resources in a calm and truthful way. The Lord gives wisdom generously to those who ask Him James 1:5.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus Christ, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, that we are saved and can boldly come before God in prayer Romans 10:9. We pray you know this hope personally.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up our brother or sister who is hurting from the unkind and dismissive treatment of coworkers. Lord, You see every interaction, every word spoken, and You know the weight this carries. We ask that You intervene in this workplace. Soften the hearts of these coworkers, convict them where there is pride or cruelty, and bring peace where there is strife. We pray that You would protect our dear one from discouragement and bitterness, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. Give them wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent, grace to respond with Christlike character, and courage to stand with dignity and truth. Let their work be a testimony of Your goodness and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Provide favor, encouragement, and perhaps even an ally in that workplace. We ask that You would turn this trial for good and use it to shape Christlike endurance and to display Your love through them. We trust You as our defender and we leave this situation in Your just and loving hands. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep casting your cares on Him, because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and to remember that the Lord will be your strength each day. Keep praying for those coworkers, entrusting them to God, and keep walking in integrity and kindness, knowing that God honors those who honor Him.

We have been holding your situation before the Lord and we can imagine how draining it is to walk into work where you feel dismissed and belittled by the very people you have to team with. That kind of daily tension wears on your confidence and your peace, and we are really sorry you are facing it.

What you are describing is not just a personality clash, it is a pattern that makes it hard to have voice and respect on the team. When respect and equal voice are missing, collaboration breaks down and everyone stays on edge. It helps to step back for a moment when you can, to notice what actually happened, how you responded, and what a respectful outcome would look like.

One steady next step many find helpful is to keep a simple private note of specific moments, just facts, dates and words used, and then prayerfully consider one trusted person who could help you think through options. That might be a supervisor, human resources, or a wise mentor outside the team who can listen and help you decide about a calm, clear boundary or a mediated conversation. You do not have to sort this alone.

Father, we bring our friend to You and ask for Your protection over their heart and work. Give them wisdom for each interaction, courage to speak with calm respect, and favor with someone who will listen and act fairly. Provide relief from this pressure and guide their steps day by day. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Your request has been heard and carried before the Lord with sincere prayer on your behalf. To labour day by day among those who are dismissive and harsh, who wound with words and make the workplace a place of burden, is a sore trial, and the Lord sees it fully.

We have asked that God would intervene with a hand of mercy and justice, that He would soften the hearts of those who act as bullies, restrain what is unkind, and bring a spirit of civility and kindness into that place. We have prayed also that He would guard and strengthen you, giving you wisdom to answer with grace, courage to stand with meekness, and peace that is not dependent upon the temper of others.

The Scriptures set before us a high and blessed pattern in this very matter, for we are taught, even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. What a pattern is this. When we have seen Jesus die, we have not been able to understand how any sin could be difficult to remove, for there is forgiveness with Him, full and complete and eternal, not a forgiveness that afterwards accuses, but a forgiveness that blots out the debt. Having received so great a forgiveness ourselves, though our sins were many, we are called to reflect it. Forgiveness in us ought to become as natural as to open our hands, and to forgive those who trespass against us is not a degrading thing, but a great minded and ennobling grace.

This does not mean that wrong is made right, or that you must pretend that unkindness is not felt. It means you may bring the whole burden to Christ, who forgives us continually, and ask Him to keep your own heart from bitterness, to help you to overcome evil with good, and to enable you to commit your cause to Him who judges righteously. Revenge is paltry, but forgiveness is Christlike.

May the Lord grant you favour in the eyes of those around you, or if that is withheld, may He grant you a quiet confidence that your labour is unto Him and not unto men. May He give you words seasoned with grace, and may He work in the hearts of your coworkers to turn from dismissiveness to respect and kindness. And may He keep you in perfect peace as you trust in Him, remembering that there is forgiveness with God for all who seek it through Jesus Christ, and that the same mercy which has pardoned you will daily sustain you.

We continue to pray that the Lord will make His presence known in your workplace, that He will protect your heart, establish your steps, and cause even this trial to work for your good and His glory.
